One of the reasons that I wanted to participate in this event was that I'm new here and need to promote my work in the area. The fact that it cost very little to be a vender helped very much. The organizer Carol was on top of everything very well. I was kept very well informed with all that was going on. This was a wonderful festival, they had pony rids, train ride, pumpkin decorating and many more activity. There was a stage with people of all ages first to exhibit their talent with dancing then musicians of all kind. Having the weather being absolutely awesome was the bonus for the day. My only regret was my daughter is now fully grown and I couldn't share the activities with her. I'm very happy to have participated in this fair. I met many people who stopped by to first see what I was showcasing then to meet me. A big hooray for Carol and all the volunteers of this town.

You get 5 tickets with admission and can buy more tickets. Each sampling is one ticket. Good sized portions so you don't leave hungry, but don't get too full. There are beer distributors too like Goose Island and others to sample different products. They had Korean spice pulled pork sandwiches, Wagyu brisket tacos, chicken and waffles, and mac and cheese TOO DIE FOR! A couple other snacks and drinks. My favorite was the Sirachi chicken wings with ranch dressing and Belgium waffles! The waffles were perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside, but properly cooked on the inside. Tender, and no raw dough! Drizzled with maple syrup. The waffles themselves stood on their own with good flavor, but the sweet/hot connection was excellent! Music more appropriate for cocktail hour played while the food booths were open and people socialized. But at 8:30, the lights turned down and a full show of musicians entertained until closing. Parker Wheeler, known from his Sunday night residency at the Grog in Newburyport hosted A-list musicians. Toni Lynn Washington headlined with features of Ricky King Russell, Johnny Blue Horn, and New Orleans' own, Amadee Castenell. A must see and be seen at event for next year!

You could see everyone working together to cook the food for quite literally the longest line at the festival because of how good it was. We got pancit, garlic rice, lumpia, pork and chicken BBQ, and turon. Each dish was also served with a small vinegar based sauce as well. There is something for everyone at the folk festival as well, with SO many different food vendors from all over the world sharing their unique flavors with the city of Lowell! The festival itself is free, but parking around the festival is not so you definitely need cash. It is also suggested to have extra cash inside the festival as well because many vendors are cash only. There are always concerts playing with live bands and plenty of local artists selling their work. HIGHLY suggest going one of the days it is available over the summer.

The Lowell Folk Festival, always the last weekend in July, is the nation's largest free folk…read morefestival. The Festival starts on Friday night and runs through Sunday afternoon. All of the performances are FREE. There are American Folk, Jazz and Blues performers as well as very many international singers and performers. There are sundry food stalls selling meals from around the world. The prices are always good. The downtown shops and restaurants actively participate, too, with great specials. All of the venues are within walking distance of each other. Everything is held outside, rain or shine. There are lots of tents set up in case it rains and to give shade. Schedules are available on line and from volunteers when you arrive. There are free shuttle buses from the Lowell train station.

The line for what looked like the most popular stall- for street food, including lots of grilled meat on sticks, papaya salad, and tons of other yummy looking options stretched beyond the food designated area and into the carnival games area. A couple of lines were like that, and I just had to live with not getting food or drink from those stalls. I remember the egg roll cafe truck from a past year. Their fusion egg rolls do not disappoint! So crisp. Got the Buffalo chicken one. Also got Japanese curry fries, which definitely worked flavor wise- the curry had kind of a gravy quality, and there was a creamy sauce, seaweed, and scallions. Also tried Nigerian food for the first time, which I was surprised to find there. I appreciated the way all the flavors came together- the special rice, plantains, and spice encrusted thin piece of beef on a stick. I was stuffed, but I wish I could have kept eating. Also saw some awesome drinks in the drink section- including one AAPI owned brand, and boozy boba that had an awesome presentation (it lit up!) The carnival games were also a hit. I secretly would have loved to win a snorlax or a two sided octopus. I was one bean bag away from winning! I guess it just wasn't my day, because at the MUJI tent I also only won a gel pen- they had a wheel that you spun. I preferred a past year, where they gave everyone notebooks. Loved those notebooks- sadness. Will just have to buy them at the store, lol.

We were in town for a celebration of life last year on Father's Day weekend and the town was…read morebuzzing about this Fiesta celebration. We decided that we wanted to come back this year to see what the fuss was all about. I have to say I didn't have any crazy expectations for this event and wasn't sure really what to expect but it was so much more fun than I thought it would be. Everything from the greasy pole competition on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, to the carnival rides, games and food, to the late night drinking celebrations at the various bars by the wharf to the parade. It was all so much fun! I love that this small fishing town gets together for this crazy tradition. Check it out if you haven't before. It's absolutely packed, from the restaurants, to the vendors, to the rides, to the beach. I used to come to Fiesta when I was younger, and it had been 15 years or so since I've been, so I returned. * Your experience of Fiesta is completely dependent on who you know or go with. It is a very different experience for locals and tourists, and both have their pros and cons. I went on a couple rides, it was $20 and the ticket booths take cards for an extra charge. I had so much fun and I never went on the rides before. The staff were nice to let me get on as a single rider instead of waiting in long lines when there was space available. I went on Sunday, so the boat race was rescheduled for Monday since it was completely foggy. You could hear people cheering and partying from their boats but you couldn't see them. The weather was bizarre, but it didn't stop the crowd. I ended up trying Tonno's after, and it was the perfect place to end the evening.

Sadly the number of homes has dwindled over the years. Thank God for the Traditionalists that have kept this thing alive with the Great Christmas lights & displays. Two of the homes in particular have a Picture Postcard Photo Shot that you've got to see. In additional to the beautiful Christmas light display there was a good amount of white untouched snow. The 2 homes have a bridge on their property with a natural babbling brook underneath that meanders all through their land. It was partially frozen but still running. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL PICTURE PERFECT! A SHOUT OUT TO ALL THE RESIDENTS FOR KEEPING THIS GREAT TRADITION ALIVE! It used to be, you had to have mega bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget!
