Club 24 is such a great gym with even better staff! The gym being open 24 hours is great!

24-hour access but if you want to hear dance club music blasted at 3:30 in the morning don't come here . As many times as I told them not play it Loud they don't listen because they have nothing but immature 20 year olds working here . Very unprofessional . And the randomly charge you $25 if you don't they here to their "club rules" And by that I mean turning down the music so I don't have to listen to their crap Bathrooms are always dirty as well and the ceiling leaks . I also fixed for machines that were down for over 2 weeks put buckets under the leaks in the ceiling when nobody was there . And they Thank Me by charging me 25 bucks for turning the radio down cuz I didn't want to hear cake by the ocean at 3:30 a.m. read more

I have joined 2 of these gyms and am very displeased. The first gym continued to charge me for 4 months after I gave my notice. I called them each month after I quit and yet they continued to charge me until I called my credit card company and put a stop on the payments. 2 years go by and I moved and tried another club 24 thinking it was a fluke. Nope! I joined their most expensive membership and had a friend come for a day. They would not stop calling her and emailing her to join their gym. I decided enough was enough and I put in my 1 month notice and they told me I owed $175.00 to quit after being a member for 5 weeks. This gym will not last for long as a franchise and I hope others do not get treated like I did twice. read more

Management is ridiculous.....No hot water in locker rooms or bathrooms for months now (although they say there is). They claim they are waiting for a part to come in to fix the hot water heaters. Evidently they have two hot water heaters.....both broken at the same time. I never heard of a situation especially in a public gym that would take months to fix a hot water problem. Don't you just replace the hot water heater? Showers are ice cold. Bathroom sinks ice cold. How can you possibly work out there and then go to work without a shower. Additionally the front desk personal seem pretty uninformed and ambivalent about the situation. Lack of hot water in bathrooms is certainly a hygiene issue that should be addressed promptly! read more

Honestly don't get how this gym has a bad reputation with their contracts and memberships. I signed up online and it was easy peasy. I read the fine print on my own time, recognized their cancellation policy, etc. I had zero issues cancelling my service with them; had I not have to move out of this state, I would not be cancelling! The customer service is incredible. I get greeted every time I walk in. The staff recognize me, even with my COVID mask on, and also recognizes that I have a guest so they always immediately have the guest liability form ready for my guest to sign. I feel like this also goes to show that they remember everyone that comes here. This place has a large array of strength training and cardio machines. There's a narrow turf for stretching and whatever you would need to do with some space (I sort of wish this area could be bigger), a "movie theater" room where you could do some cardio while watching one of their movies, large changing rooms, clean bathrooms and showers, and even a private women's room. The women's room has cardio, strength training, and some dumbbells. There also included another little narrow turf for your stretches. Each machine is clean, I've never seen one that's busted or not clean. Prior to COVID19, I loved that they had a spray cleaning bottle and paper towels near by for you to wipe down your station. Now that we're in COVID19 season, all members are required to bring their own little spray bottle and spray/wipe down after every use. I think this should be continued with or without COVID19 as it improves the health and safety of all that go here! Overall, I've had a great experience here. I have the orange membership which is $5.99 a week. It's a little pricey but if you go to the gym often, bring guests every day (or most days), and even want to do personal training with an instructor or do group Zumba sessions, it's all included! read more

I am pretty sure at some point, I wrote a two-star review about how half the equipment at Club 24 was broken and the male locker smelled of mold. And I am pretty sure at some point the PR person for the club replied unfavorably. Neither of these are here anymore...suspicious.... Shady Yelpness aside, this location has since renovated over the last summer and improved dramatically. Some of the carpet that was worn was redone, the men's locker room seems to be either more often clean or the odor dealt with, and the broken equipment has been swapped out. I especially appreciate the new treadmills/ellipticals that have TVs built into them either to simulate running outside or can be swapped to local TV. The only thing keeping this Club 24 from a perfect score their wifi can get slow at times. I know, it's nitpicky and it should not make a difference considering the whole point of the gym is either to get swole or healthy (sometimes both, but not for everyone). Still, if I want to stream my music when I run, I don't want to nuke my data plan after a 5...er...45 minute run. read more

I personally liked to gym because of how convenient it is for someone living in Wallingford. To me it is perfect for getting a daily workout in. Though it's not like the YMCA with a basketball court it definitely makes up for it with the amount of weights and other equipment it has. Especially for the movie room where you can both watch a movie and do cardio at the e same time. I would definitely recommend this gym if you want to get a daily workout in. read more

I don't understand what all the negative reviews are about. This gym costs 2.50/ week. I prepaid for 12 months and didn't have to pay any of the service fees and got an additional 6 months of service for doing so. There are a lot of cardio machines and they have a movie theater inside the gym I go to with cardio equipment. There are a lot of free weights, squat racks, and barbells etc. but they also have weight machines for beginners to use. The things they need to change are below: They need to add more barbell clips, I feel like I am constantly searching for them throughout the gym and sometimes cannot find them when it is busy ( as an added bonus though, my form has improved). They need to add more weight benches by the free weights and/or have an additional section where people can use dumbbells with benches. I just have the base membership, but I don't see a reason to buy the more expensive one because the classes are so infrequent. For instance, if you want to do yoga, there is only one class a week at my location. read more

I was a member here many years ago and had a negative experience with billing. My ex and I had signed up at the same time and, for some reason, my credit card information was entered for both of us. We addressed it at the gym in person and they changed it out for his card. About a year later, I started getting phone calls from collections agencies. He and I had broken up in the meantime and his card had been cancelled, so the gym was putting me into collections. It took many calls to the gym and the BBB and about 5 months of fighting before they took the mark off of my credit report. Even with this, I decided to give them a second shot recently. I had liked the gym itself when I was previously a member and knew they had renovated and added some new options to the gym. They had an amazing Black Friday special (15 months for $115 after taxes) so I signed up. I was called a few days later by one of their trainers, Christina, who was inviting me in for a personalized session. It was only 10 minutes long but it kicked my butt. She was trying to upsell me on their Cross Fit-type training, but at $35/week that would have cost more per month than I was paying for a 15-month membership. Apparently the 10-minute sessions are included in my current membership, so I do plan on continuing to take advantage of those; plus, you can use the room as long as classes aren't in session, so once I learn how to use the equipment I can have my own 10 minute sessions. The movie room hasn't changed, and neither has the main workout room (lots of broken equipment, too) but the new Cross Fit room and women's-only room look very nice. read more

I have been going to this gym for two semesters now. I tried leaving after the first semester but couldn't unless I wanted to pay an absurd cancellation fee (because I had not been a member for . This gym consistently has broken machines that remain broken for extended periods of time. There aren't enough bar bells to match the machines (benches and squat racks) that they have. Many of the cable machines are missing clips, which means you have to walk around the gym and take them from other machines. Which in turn makes other people search for clips when they are using the machine you took it from. In terms of the staff, they were friendly the majority of the time, but if you had a question regarding almost anything, they were useless. That sounds harsh but it's true. About the only good thing this gym has going for it is that it's very cheap. But as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. read more

My experience with this gym has been the most unpleasant. Firstly, they overcharge you for personal training, and when you want to cancel it, there's a cancellation fee of $250 which you were never told of. So I had to continue with my personal training sessions (not without jumping from trainer to trainer- because apparently, no trainer works at this gym for more than a month). I had to go through 3 trainers. Also, to be a part of this gym you need to pay another $11 to add to the personal training (PT) fees. At the end of my PT contract, I went to cancel the $11 membership fee, but somehow I ended up on a year-long contract (which I had never signed up for). And the cancellation fees for this is $89. This place is a RIP-OFF. In case you do decide to join this gym, make sure what you're signing up for because the employees (whose job it is to tell you) will not inform you. read more

If it was possible I would give Club 24 in Wallingford zero stars. This is the worst experience I have ever had doing business in my entire existence. Almost although I would suggest to hire a LAWYER to get out of their contracts, and horrible management. I have had a membership since late 2019. Once the pandemic hit I had zero interest in going to any gym which yes is my personal preference. I Called and explained that I did not feel comfortable going to the gym anymore given the circumstances. They said I would have to come In to cancel my membership. Online it CLEARLY states you are able to cancel via certified mail. They told me I had to pay a cancelation fee which at the time of signing up they told me that was not part of the contract. After thinking that I was removed as a member they continued to charge my credit card for the monthly fees as well as the yearly fee of "maintaining" the gym. Fast forward after many phone calls, I had to go to the gyn yet again in person. There were two young ladies working at the desk aimlessly clicking the computer trying to figure out how to cancel. After standing there for 10 minutes they both say they dont know how to cancel my membership. someone would call me at 4 PM later that day. 4 comes and no one has called me. AFTER MONTHS of calling, asking to cancel, sending certified mail requests they finally sent me an email saying my subscription is cancelled. if I see any more charges after this I will be furious but not surprised. wait it gets better. Their management is horrible, the employees do not know what they are doing, they are under qualified. They had a man working there who used my account to find me on social media and proceed to send me messages, and even come into the women's room to speak to me while I am working out. I have zero interest in that behavior as it is uncomfortable. what's the point of the women's room if an Employee is going to come in there on the treadmill next to me and make me uncomfortable. which is another reason I wanted to leave this gym. HORRIBLE. do not bother going and do not give them your credit card information. the entire gym is a law suit waiting to happen. read more

Plenty of machines, free weights and different treadmills/ellipticals; with some unique machines not available at comparable gyms, like Jacobs Ladder and various 'ab' machines. Movie Theater room with treadmills and elliptical machines. Various classes offered, included with certain membership types, are very good and challenging. The manager pushed me into signing up the day I went to check the place out and it was uncomfortable. I basically told him I would sign up another day because I didn't have my gym bag with me and he would not let down. Anyway I sign up for 6 months and pay all the money up front with no re-occurring payments that way I could see if they billed me in the future. Come 7 months later (I stopped going for the last 2 months) I start getting billed again because he now says that payments are automatically reoccurring and not only that but in order to cancel I have to sign off on paper at the gym. Went for trial membership because they are having a great promotion but didn't like Mr. Val's (manager) attitude. Mr. Val's treatment with me and my friend, who recommended me for the gym, was not acceptable at all. When we went to try the aqua massage chair at the end, Mr. Val told me that the massage is not for guest but later gave me access to it, however, he stopped massage session for my friend and asked her to leave in the middle because she had a basic membership. Just not happy with Mr. Val's way of treating people. Besides, other employees were fine. Thank god, I was only on trial period. I am not going back to this gym at all. read more

Take your business elsewhere. Was somehow fraudulently signed up for a gym account here after being a free guest a few times with my husband. All of a sudden, I received a text saying that I have an account past due since June of 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. The gym claims no fault and I am on the hook for an gym membership I never signed up for or used because I never knew I had it. Terrible management. All they offer to due is freeze the overdue account so it can be paid off just so they can restart it again, which makes no sense if you never signed up for a membership in the first place. The policies they have are directed towards making more money and not for the customer. The gym closed due to covid and they froze accounts , then when they unknowingly opened up again started charging everyone without their consent or confirmation. I have multiple friends who owe hundreds of dollars and never confirmed them to start charging their card . These people are not going to the gym because were in the middle of a pandemic , they can clearly see that these people are not using the gym . Why steal their money ? This place is robbery. I wanted to send an update because it's been almost two years since this all happened. I ended up submitting a BBB complaint against Club:24, which is the only time when their management actually decided to respond. They refused to refund any of my money, and didn't see any issue with the actions of their trainer, or their delay in providing the service that I was paying for. I decided to cut my losses and just let it go. Club:24, however, didn't seem to get the message. I now get monthly advertising phone calls trying to get me to join again. I've joined two other gyms since then (Edge, then I moved so I joined an LA Fitness). I've noticed that their contracts are better written than Club:24, and certainly they've been more responsive (and their facilities are so much nicer). Horrible the manger yells at you to wear your mask but doesn't have his over his nose or mouth half the time. Cable machines have duck tape over some of them. The preacher rack has been broken for so long. Only 2 squat and bench racks. A barbell broke when I was going to use it. One good thing though is the BMI calculator. They don't have a a lot of machine like a machine squat or a standing calf raise. Their is too many cardio machines and some of them are broken and make loud squeaky noises when using them. read more

I would like to share my opinion of Club 24 based on years of my personal experiences. PROS: I have been with them (on and off) pretty much since their opening on the original Wallingford / Meriden location. I personally never had issues with billing or being able to cancel or sign up with any complications. I have always found the staff to be pleasant and the folks that go here are nice. It's a mixed bag of people of all ages and everyone that I have encountered has been polite and cordial. It's a laid back atmosphere and a comfortable environment. CONS: I wish the machinery was maintained to a higher standard. It is not uncommon to find the TV's on the cardio equipment non-functional at times. Simple things like replacing worn hand grips on the cable weight machines would be nice as some of them are destroyed and hurt to use. When a machine goes down, sometimes it remains that way for a long period of time (example; the Rotary Torso machine which has been broke for a year!). Lastly... please do something about the odor that permeates from the carpet in the men's locker room! Personally, It was a bad idea to put carpet in there in the first place. The shower area is tile, but people get out the shower and walk out into the locker area and dry themselves there (getting the carpet wet). This cycle has repeated so many times that the carpet is just gross. I think removal is in order and replacing it with tile is probably best. I must say that overall... I do like this gym. With a little maintenance... this Wallingford location would be outstanding! read more

Decided to cancel after almost a year at the club because I purchased some workout equipment. I went into the club and the employee was very nice and helpful, and the process was very easy. If I decide to rejoin a club I would definitely join my club 24 again. read more

The billing system for Club 24 is awful. I cancelled my membership with them and I am still liable for a months worth of payments AND the annual maintenance fee. I was first told that if I spoke with the manager it could be waived for me. It took me 5 different calls to actually get the manager on the phone. Once I did, he said he could not do anything for me. In his words, "They aren't allowed to credit me back any charges that are made within the 30 days of cancelling." So basically, there was no window of time that I could have cancelled this membership and not been charged some type of ridiculous fee, because if I had cancelled it any sooner I would have been subject to an early cancellation fee. I then asked, so what happens if I dispute the charge with my bank because I think it's an unfair charge? He then said that if I dispute the charge then they would not cancel my membership. They can't even do any kind of prorated amount or courtesy credit or anything. What kind of a business is unable to do anything to satisfy their customers? I will never go back to this gym, not only for these reasons but also because they take forever to fix their machines. read more

DONOT JOIN THIS GYM! My husband passed away and I really needed to get out and get some exercise. I though the price was great $8. and change a week for membership and I added the Afterburner class $107.and change per month, for 9 months. I thought the place was dumpy looking and I became afraid of equipment breaking while using which had happened. But the trainer was excellent and I enjoyed the class after the summer ended the class size went down to one, me. After a while there were people during the class that would come in doing there own thing or people running in and out looking for equipment. This bothered me and since my contract was up on January 4, 2018, I decided to quit the class and signed the papers to do so on December 26, 2017. Well on the 2nd week of Jan they took $60. and change from my account. I kept calling about this and was finally told on February 6th that I wasn't getting my money back there was some lame excuse about the contract not being up until 30 days after, that means we will get as much of your money as we can. B.S. I recommend you cut back on your calories and walk every day, that will give you much better results and you will still have you money. read more

Staff was nonexistent. I had to go and get my cell phone and call the building in order for someone to help me. They will also try and scam you into spending extra money on a personal trainer. Do NOT join this gym. I was a member for 13 days and it was absolutely terrible. When I went to cancel Val, the General Manager, was condescending and disrespectful. After being forced to pay an $89 buyout fee that I was never advised about when signing up, but told it was in a contract I never signed. I had also asked for a receipt for proof of cancellation, they refused to print it for me and told me it would be emailed. 6 hours after cancelling I still hadn't received this email, when my sister who cancelled 5 minutes before me had. I created an online account at that point to make sure it had gone through and called to follow up for this receipt, I was told would be emailed. After thinking a little more about this contract I "signed" I went through my emails and found it. When I pulled up the contract I found that it was NOT my signature but that someone else had put a line through and locked me into a contract. I then sent an email on the corporate page looking for my money back because they forged my signature and was told by Val that the signatures do appear different but because I created an online account there was nothing that could be done. I then once again asked that my money be returned as this is illegal and a criminal offense and was told because I used the gym 3 times and provided a credit card I could not get my money back. I did provide a credit card to pay the $1.99 weekly charge. But the contract that has the termination fees and me locked in was not signed by me. At this point, I will be filling a complaint with BBB and a consumer fraud complaint with the FTC. I am confident I am not the first person Club 24 has done this too and probably won't be the last. read more
