Today I saw The Batman at 1130a. On a Monday. In Barcelona. This is basically the definition of impossible. They don't do matinees here. They especially don't do weekday matinees here. And they especially especially absolutely do not do VOSE weekday matinees here. In short: cha-ching. Beautifully maintained premises, ticket sale via front of house automation, legit concession, comfortable seats (though the arms don't move and the orientation is upward), but maybe my favorite thing? Reverence. The exit sign was turned off during the movie. And no other light, noise (think hvac), or otherwise nuisance invaded the viewing space. Gadzooks this hit the marks! I will 100% be back. Wonderful movie theater…read more A great place to go see current movies in original language, and subtitled (the best translation I could find for VOSE) in Spanish. They have all of the current movies that you would expect at any movie theater. They also have all the typical movie theater treats and sweets for your average movie-goer, and if not there's a supermarket right next door. In a great location, and really easy to get to because it is right next to a FGC stop. Big space. Clean. Great place, great movies, makes going to the movies a great thing. The way it should be.

The prices are very reasonable (as far as prices go for first-run movies), and the snack bar has pretty standard prices and offerings. The seats in many of the salons leave some to be desired... for a 90-120 minute movie, they're tolerable. But for anything longer, I find myself squirming to try to get comfortable. Your best bet is to avoid the seats in the center, and select instead the ones toward the periphery, that are not as "broken in."

Also, as usual, popcorn and drinks are outrageously expensive. It is one of the only theaters in Barcelona playing in original version, but is a kind of far from downtown. It's close to the beach tho. Its on a mall (-1 level) and the seats are comfortable. Our screen was kind of small, but this happens a lot in this type of theaters in Spain. I wanted to watch a Spanish movie, but went to watch an American movie with Spanish subtitles. The theater was clean and well maintained. Nothing fancy, just the basics. Temperature inside the hall was comfortable and so was the seating.

It was built for bullfighting, but Catalonians in Barcelona do not watch this sport. So this arena was turned into a shopping center complex complete with a viewing deck on the roof, but there is a fee, so we didn't bother going up there. There's a variety of restaurants inside and a grocery store. If you like orange juice, there's a machine in the basement that lets you juice your own fresh bottled orange juice!

Easily as worthy as its many heritage counterpart structures in this bountiful city of wondrous architecture, it still seems like a hidden gem that gets overlooked amidst multiple world heritage sites. It is not just a beautiful building, it is one of the most photo-worthy UNESCO sites in town. Gorgeously preserved seats, wood, sculptures, stained glass, historic cafe, and don't miss those yummy balcony columns outside! There is much to love here, but if you are short on time and can only snap photos and move along, you can see it all in 20 minutes. Squeeze it in. It's one of the most beautiful buildings you've never heard of.

I was a little disappointed that during the night performance, the patio area with the famous mosaic columns was completely closed off. It's one of the highlights of the building, and I was really hoping to see it lit up at night. Apparently, it's only open during day tours, which is kind of a bummer if you're only going for a show. Also, heads up -- the main photo you see everywhere is taken from the upstairs balcony seats, so if that's the view you want, book accordingly.
