This is a great place to sit and people watch. The hundreds of people on the beach celebrating the weekend with their families, children running all over the place, wandering musicians, vendors of all things, horses going by regularly... This isn't the Rosarito Beach I remembered from the 80s. Gone are the obnoxiously drunk white teenagers, but other drunkards can be found if you look. Two stars for the awful sweet concoctions they offer as a two-for-one. It's not two for one, as in two people each order a drink, for a total of two drinks. It's you order a drink, and you get two. So we all ended up with two drinks, had a few sips, then left them alone. Way too sweet for us, with no real fruit juice. We didn't try their food, so I can't comment on that. Came to Rosarito for a fun time with family. We were all walking by the beach when waiters approached us about a table, we had a previous fun experience at club corona, so we took a table. The waiter named Alvaro sat us, then handed us a menu. We ordered a bucket of beers(half dos xx and half Yndio), two 2 for 1 pina coladas and ceviche to start off. Before the food even came I handed Alavaro $5 to ensure he would continue to provide us solid service. Soon after my wife was shown a different menu by Alvaro, which included some sliced fruit options for our kids, my wife says this menu had pictures but no prices. At some point she ordered what is called a Piña Loca from that menu. The drinks came and my brother handed Alvaro another $5 since at that moment everything seemed fine. We continued to have fun relaxing, had some burritos and a few mojarras. The food was good and did not seem overpriced. At some point during our food, I handed Alvaro a few more bucks. When we finally asked for the tab, we had calculated we had consumed about $115. Alvaro came to our table and said we owed $180. I politely asked how he got to that price? He explained that there was an extra charge of $10 for our beers being mixed(this was bull), even though the beers we ordered were all the same price. Then he said the Piña Loca was $30, which we thought was outrageous since we thought it was going to be $15. Even with those extra $25 added to our bill, we were still at $140, when I asked about the rest, Alvaro said that those $40 were for his service at 20%. Keep in mind, we had been tipping him already, despite that a $40 tip for $140 was more than 28%. When I showed him the math on my phone I said, even with the food costing extra and your tip at 20%, the bill should be closer to $170. He looked at my phone calculator and said OK, it's $170, which is what we paid. In the end we paid Alvaro 21% tip, but when you ainclude what we had already given him orior to the billa, he was well over 30% tip from us. Our question is, why would he try and get even more???? Despite having proven that we owed ten dollars less, we left with a bitter taste knowing our bill had been inflated by our bucket of beers having been charged a premium for asking for two different types of beer(nothing is mentioned on menu and no other establishment adds a $10 upcharge). Then we had the Piña Loca that cost $30(we later learned this is sold for $15 at fruit cart 20ft away), plus the waiter wanting to pull a fast one on us by giving himself an even fatter tip. If you learn anytbing for this review, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK QUESTIONS AS YOU ORDER ITEMS OFF ANY MENU. My wife and I ordered the Pina colada which was 2 for $7.00. the music was loud, it was crowded and don't much care for having to walk on sand to get to the main bar. BIGGEST TOURIST TRAP ever! Sadly, we fell for it. It's nice to be able to drink and dine by the beach, but this entire bar is a disaster. First off, this place is super deceiving. We ordered a basket of Tecate beer because we had a good amount of people. Once the bucket came out, it was filled with Tecate Light.... uhh.. you would think they'd warn us it's that Light version when we made the order but nope. As we later found out, Tecate was available but they just chose to be stingy. Secondly, the menu is super deceiving as well. I got what they labeled as a "Giant Burrito" on the menu. When we actually got the order, it was the smallest and saddest looking burrito of all-time. No flavor on this lifeless burrito. Worst yet, it was $7 which is a rip-off for Rosarito considering there were places on neighboring streets, as we later found out, selling delicious and gigantic burritos for $4-$5. Low quantity and low quality.... a double whammy. Don't even get me started about the wait. It is an endless waiting game with these people. We waited for an excruciatingly long time, maybe 45 minutes, before our food got to us. Then when we wanted to get the check to pay for the terrible food, it took another excruciatingly long wait before our server came back to us. It's almost like he forgot about us. I highly recommend this place! It's right next to papas and beer on the beach. It has a beautiful view, great music and our server Oscar was great! He made sure me and my boyfriend were well taken care of the whole time. Be sure to ask for him when you go! I don't know if this place is operating at night like other clubs around. We sat out in one of the chairs and tables that servers bring all the way to the beach. Our server Jose was very attentive and checked on us regularly. To use their bathroom without paying for it you need to get a stamp at the outside bar and make your way to the restroom inside the building. The building looked like it was nice built with a great intent of making some good money. Terrible experience! Do not go.... Went for 2:1. Lured in by waitress. Paid initial waiter 30 for 24 bill. We left.. we were chased down by the waitress , blocks away telling us we did not pay. We actually had a video of the waiter we paid. She tried to tell us our bill was 57. For what? Jell-O shots we never asked for? They tried to lure us back to the restaurant. Hell no! We were threatened that they would call the police and told if we did not pay, the police would make us pay more. We were not intimated by their threats. An entourage of men showed up and grabbed my son and pulled him in the street trying to assault him until we all started to make a scene . They were blocking the taxis so we could not get out. They were mad because the "city" police did not show up as they were hoping to extort more money from us. Some other law enforcement showed up and were on our side. I've been here a few times before they began remodeling. The service back then was good and the staff friendly. That cannot be said for some of the staff today. The venue is ok, not up to par with the larger clubs. Drink specials are similar to the rest of the clubs such as Iggy's and Papas & Beer. On our most recent trip my fiancé and I were in the mood for a michelada (aka chavela). A promoter was able to tempt us into the club where we sat down and enjoyed the great views Rosarito has to offer. The drinks were good and served by the promoter within a reasonable amount of time. The problem came when it was time to pay for the drinks. I anticipated the drinks to cost somewhere between $8 to $10 and was surprised when the promoter told us they were $12 each! We were a bit hesitant to pay and things didn't seem right. We then went to the bar and asked the price for a michelada, the bartender responded $10. We turned to the promoter very displeased with his actions and demanded to know why he was trying to overcharge us. He began making up various excuses and we saw a manager/supervisor/jefe was sitting at the bar. We explained to him what had occurred and that we would not be returning. We paid for our bill and let them know we would not be returning after the terrible experience. (that's $56) He doesn't bring a bill or anything. Leans against the bar, with his arms against his back and says that it's $150 because it's $15 minimum per person. I argue with him, and he says he will call the police... Basically it felt like he wanted to negotiate the price. I told him I'd pay for all the drinks even though I only wanted 8. After 10 minutes of arguing with this guy, I give him $56, he asks what about the tip...and I laugh at his question and leave. They sat us and served us promptly and the guy took great care of us all day. Until the bill came. This place just waits to rip you off with the bill !! First of all we knew they didn't give us Don Julio shots. They tasted like crap but we shrugged it off. They charged us $15 per shot !!! $12 per cranberry vodka !!!
