As Kay K pointed out, the beach is right there! It was November and coolish, 60 degrees, so not ideal swim weather. The flavored water in the lobby and hanging art work really make the place look great. We arrived near the evening, with dinner at the hotel included. We went to our room to change clothes and stretch out and found..a bottle of sparkling wine, on ice, with 2 glasses! It was my birthday, and they sent a really nice note to thank us for sharing my birthday with them! I don't know if Gate1 requested this or not, but it was such a nice gesture! We headed to dinner on the first floor (there are actually 2 buildings here, but some renovation was going on) where the breakfast buffet takes place. Dinner was buffet style, with beverage service. There were carving stations, fruit, dessert, so much good food! I never came back for dinner, just for breakfast, which was so expansive and well done. It was nice to sit near a window with a view of the water/pool. The bathroom was fine, a bidet and shower that was not too hard to operate. Again, minimal towels. But also a balcony with chairs and a small table. I did not ask if all rooms have a balcony, but I doubt they all have ocean (?) views. We found the staff approachable and friendly. The bar on the first floor had live nightly entertainment. We missed the first Elvis night, but caught some of the Saturday act. It was ok, just rehashing tunes for the middle age set of tourists, like on a cruise. I took a day off from touring to walk around, shop, and relax on the sundeck in a chair to read with a sangria! It was prob the highlight of my stay. The reason for the 3.5 starts is we saw a dead bug on the stairwell, and a live one in our bathroom! It was probably a waterbug. By the time I ran to grab a shoe, it was gone. To their credit, we called downstairs and a staff member with spray came in. Not sure if they needed to exterminate more, or if this was a fluke. It was our last night anyway. They were good enough to open the buffet breakfast extra early with Continental foods because we had to check out by 6:30am!

The buffet breakfast and dinners were amazing gormet cuisine. We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Ironically, the AC was not running during our stay (March 21-24,2024). The review before mine explained why! So we are here during what's considered "winter" here. Well, we ended up opening the balcony sliding door part of the way to get air in the stuffy room. Even during the night, so we could sleep. Still, I'd say this was a very decent hotel stay. We didn't have time to swim, or lounge much. The pool looks fantastic. The beach is across the street.

Almost feels like a cruise ship with all the amenities and British guests but this hotel has a nice pool, beach club, gym, beautiful rooftop bar and great breakfast buffet. Rooms are nicely appointed; my "Keep the Secret" room had a patio/balcony with side view to the sea. Short 5-10 minute stroll to Old Town and good value for the money. I did wander over to Puente Romano and Marbella Club for an even more upscale vibe that was only a 10-12 minute taxi ride away. Puerto Banus is another 5-10 minutes and you can catch a ferry boat to there from a marina promenade that is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

The hotel is right by the ocean, and our room opened to a balcony overseeing the beach. So needless to say, the view was AMAZING. The balcony is awesome to sit and relax and enjoy a drink. And the room is so comfortable and has very good amenities. The room features are controlled via a smartphone that can also be taken out and used for internet and navigation if needed. That was a pretty nifty thing to have around, so I thought it was cool. The shower is awesome and the water pressure is great. The toiletries are good and that's all I need to say about that. I also experienced the SPA. I had a deep tissue massage, and although it wasn't that deep, it was so relaxing and refreshing. You also get a pass to use the SPA facilities for the day, but I ended up not using that... since I wanted to be by the beach instead. There's hotel-only beach seating area with service staff available for food and drinks. We tried some appetizers and they were awesome. We also ate at the hotel restaurant on beach level. There was live music, which was awesome... although the sound wasn't really balanced, so we could barely hear the singer while we were able to hear the music just fine. The staff are super friendly. Happy to help, take pictures, provide service, whatever you need. The hotel also has bicycles available for use for the day which is great for riding along the beach. We'll definitely come back to this place when we revisit.

You do have to pay extra for room safe deposit. All is a bit dated but in a classy clean way. Great price for the value. Has a massage spa that it's OK. A place to return. Only issue is that in shoulder seasons they tend to turn Off the A/C system but we asked them and reactivated it.

We stayed for 3 nights with our almost 11 y.o. And had a great time. The weather was a little…read morechilly but we still had fun at the pool. My wife and I got married at the resort 13 years ago so it was fun to return. We only ate at the Tikki Bar for the most part, and the burgers were really good as were the mango smoothies. The staff, Azahara, Ana, and Reuben at the Tikki Bar were amazing. So friendly and very attentive. They do a great job. We walked to nearby restaurants for dinner so didn't try the restaurant and only had the breakfast buffet one day. The pastries in the on-site supermarket were made fresh each morning and were excellent, especially the chocolate croissants. We had a time on our return trip to the resort.

They advertise a rooftop pool but it costs a lot of money per person to use (over 100 euros). They advertise a private beach club but it also costs 100 euros per person to use. The pool that we could see at ground level from our balcony was empty and being refurbished - so unusable. There was one usable pool for guests included in the price of the room but it was very cold. There are many paddle ball courts which we saw being used every day from our balcony but they, too, cost a lot of money to use. Plus, the remote nature of the resort meant that, unless you take the commuter train to somewhere else, you are stuck away from other possible interesting things to do. The best parts were the staff (everyone was kind and helpful) and the fitness center. But we will not stay here again.

This is a small family hotel located on the hills outside of Malaga with spectacular sweeping views of the city and yet only about 10 mins away from town by taxi. I took a room with a balcony and it was a very small upgrade fee of €10. In return I had a bigger room and a nice balcony with sweeping views of the city. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was also well stocked and clean. The owner of the hotel was on hand to help and if you had questions. It's not a posh hotel at all however best value for €55 a night including breakfast. What more can you ask for ? The neighbourhood is largely residential and lots of quaint old houses. There is a fabulous restaurant in the hotel and I really enjoyed the food there. It's very quiet at night so a great place to rest and recover. I would come here in a heartbeat. It's a wonderful place with nice rooms and facilities.

Trying to get a simple dessert and coffee later in the evening could not be had unless you included it in your day before order. The kitchen is "closed" unless you order the day before. Seeing people dining and not being able to have anything as the kitchen is "closed" is very weird. During our stay we did not receive any new towels, only the bed was made. There is no water or ice available. We got water from the downstairs bar one night and had to buy it at the grocery store. The hotel itself is nice but as guests at the hotel service was lacking.

I would not recommend using On The…read moreBeach, as it would work out cheaper to do it yourself, just to get that out the way, and their transfers were so poor they were unusable. A taxi from Malaga airport costs around 100 Euros, which if you split it with another couple, as we did, worked out cheaper than transfers. Anyway! The hotel itself is great - we upgraded to a suite for 25 Euros per night when we got there - glad we did, it was palatial. Massive bed, lovely marble bathroom, huge balcony with sofa, table and chairs and sunloungers. The maid service came twice a day and there was nothing more they could have done to make our stay more comfortable - simply brilliant. The pool area is lovely and serene, no loud music blaring and as it's an adults-only hotel, no kids shrieking either! There is a second quieter, smaller pool if you want to really get away from it. The pool restaurant/bar was good, usually good service and quick. Didn't use the spa, so can't comment on that. Buffet breakfast was certainly worth paying for, as the choice was phenomenal. The made-to-order omelettes were delicious, get there early though as there can be quite a queue for those. Never had any trouble finding a sun lounger - usually laid in the palm tree garden which was lovely. It was quite breezy when we were there in September, and a bit cooler than usual, according to the staff. The beach is about a 10 minute walk away, however, it is not suitable for bathing on or in. There is a shop a short walk away on the same side of road as hotel, however it is poorly stocked and closes and opens at erratic times (or did when we were there!). The hotel itself is lovely but situated beside a very busy highway. None of the rooms overlook this though, so noise isn't an issue. However, it does mean if you want to go somewhere other than the shop or the few restaurants nearby, you have to walk quite a way to get to the flyover (which is shonkily constructed!) or take cabs. A cab into Estepona cost around 15 Euros and took about 10-15 mins. Overall, I'd definitely go back to Senator Banus.
