Pro: What a simply magnificent place to stay! Marriott's Marbella Beach Resort is a second-to-none option for a stay in southern Spain! Beach-side location? Check. Great apartment-style rooms? Check. On-location dining that captures the spirit of the locals (and not just tourist-trappy eats)? Check. It's just over an hour drive to get to Gibraltar and about a 35 minute drive from the airport. Don't bother buying one or multiple weeks. They sell you on the ability to be prioritized so you can secure the building and apartment you want. But if you already own, you'll take a back seat. There is so many things to love about Marbella, Spain. We happily booked on our Marriott trade in here for a week into a 3 bedroom villa to celebrate our daughter who's a recent graduate and multi state bar pass attorney. We made it here after being in Madrid for 3 nights with our youngest who works for the FS corporation. I mention that, because one thing that happens in our stay was appalling and trust me , FS employees always notice.. First , this resort is beautiful. It's right on the beach. A beautiful gym; multi pools , including a heated one inside; a kids pool & play area; BBQ areas and multiple outlets for eating. The lobby is small, which made check in a bit slow. There is a market place, but it's pricey as it's on property. But it gets you what you need & our girls loved that it had quick pizzas and Euro snacks on the ready. There is a grocery store down the way , also pricey , but cheaper than on Marriott's property. The villa itself could use a bit of a renovation but it's very quiet and so nice and near so much in S. Spain. We had a large balcony over looking the grounds. The location superb. The villa itself was outfitted perfectly for our daughters and us for the 6 day stay. We had one misfire at the on site restaurant: his name is , ' Rofo' and he is a tyrant. He works at El Med, as a host --- maybe a waiter and wins the award for the rudest, most obnoxious staff member we encountered in Europe this year.. yes. The entire year. He sat us at 830, maybe closer to 9pm? But being in Spain, that is usually the dinner hour. We had been traveling all day so we heard music in the restaurant and one of our daughters had a headache and asked to sit on the patio, which he took issue with. She saw him roll his eyes as we sat at the outside table , ( he said we had to sit by 'his' door and order from the limited bar menu), so she left for the room & we went inside, which again aggravated him and he rolled his eyes again. He slammed the menus down and told us to hurry and order. He then placed bread on the table that we didn't want , ( charging us for it) & returning to say 'yes?' .. meaning he wanted our order. We ordered quickly. This was the vibe through our quick dinner; and when we listened to the great entertainment, that we loved and decided to order dessert since it seemed others were? He yelled at us, 'HURRY UP!! IT's almost 10 and we close!!' While tapping his watch and saying , 'I I , EYE EYE EYE O!' .. to that I finally said , ' that is NOT okay .. you are rude !' And he said ' you showed up late and chef is waiting !' .. I had NO clue what this man meant .. but we wanted our check and I was so angry and humiliated we vowed to never go back to this restaurant again. Moreover, it's a Marriott where we have over a weeks plus worth of points for this trip in Europe like we do every year and the American brands employee treated us that badly at dinner after our long day ? So that was our one HUGE issue. We did check out a day early and leave for Barcelona. The spa was also closed and that is not mentioned anywhere on any site or when you check in- it's only when you ask. That said most of our time here was great. It's a lovely location. There needs to be more restaurants with more variety open and a spa. Some updates are needed but I think we will definitely return and maybe Rofo will have a new career somewhere else :-) read more

I drove in from Seville Spain after attended the April fair. I used my vacation club points since I own two weeks and reserved a two bedroom villa. Since Marriott vacation club has converted options for depositing each week for points it gives the owners more flexibility in the amount of days to visit as compared to having no choice but stay an entire 7 nights at one resort. Checking in was easy at the beautiful lobby and the resort is located right on the ocean. This Marriott Vacation club was typical of other locations I've visited and was perfectly landscaped and maintained. There was a large marketplace, indoor and several outdoor pools, fitness center, a upscale restaurant El Med, sports bar and a beach front café. As for the villa, it was spacious and contained two full bedrooms & bathrooms, large living room, fully functional kitchen, washer & dryer and a large patio with an ocean view from the living room. I'm so happy with my Marriott Vacation Club weeks and being an owner, I get special discounts at all locations which is another positive perk which saves me up to 30% off the rack rate. Next stop of our vacation is four nights at the Marriott Vacation Club Son Antem at Majorca Spain. read more

Stayed at Marriott's Marbella Beach Resort in January 2016. Marbella would not be my first choice of cities to stay at in Spain, but my mother-in-law had a timeshare week that she was not using and so my husband, sister, and I were able to stay in a two bedroom villa at this resort for free. Marbella is only a two hour drive from Granada and Ronda and less than three hours from Sevilla so we were able to make several day trips during our six day stay. The Marbella Beach Resort is located directly on the beach, but you'll need a rental car to access any of the restaurants and boutiques in town. Many amenities are provided on the resort including onsite dining, a fitness center, outdoor pools, heated indoor pools, and a jacuzzi and sauna. We didn't spend too much time at the resort during our stay, but we did make use of the indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, and sauna. We also dined at Charlie's Resto Bar at the resort on the one night we were too tired to drive into Marbella. The food was pretty good for hotel food. Positives: Our two-bedroom/two-bathroom villa was very spacious. We made breakfast each morning in the kitchen and enjoyed great views from our balcony. The Nespresso machine in the kitchen was greatly appreciated and the resort charged an extremely fair price for the Nespresso pods. We were able to pack light suitcases since we had a washer and dryer in our villa. (Tip: The resort provides laundry detergent for two loads. Pack extra as I did if you plan on washing several loads.) (Minor) Negatives: The villa was nicely decorated, but it lacked character. It would be nice to see the rooms decorated with more of a Spanish flair. Our bed in the master bedroom was really uncomfortable and our backs were killing us by the end of our stay. I didn't notice that the mattress sloped down until our fourth night at the hotel. Be prepared to get pressured to take a timeshare tour. I told the timeshare rep, Janina Ferlin, prior to our trip that we had no interest, but she wouldn't take no for an answer and called our villa every day. Despite the few negatives, our stay was nice and this is a great resort if you are looking to vacation on the beach in Marbella. read more

In order to reach this resort for our one day visit from Malaga we caught an early bus to Marbella then an expensive 18 euros cab ride to go 9 miles backwards from bus station to this timeshare. The resort is beautiful and plush but definitely not ideal to get to without a car. We sat & waited from arrival at 1030 until room was ready at 1530, including having a buffet brunch @16e at the resort's beach front restaurant. It's too windy and cold outside to sunbath. On the positive side it forced us to relax and unwind. Wish we had brought trunks to swim in the indoor heated pool (looks very nice). Our room was just gorgeous and charming, like all Marriott Vacation villa we had visited. The entertainment this evening was a flamingo show with sangria in the formal dining room. We took advantage of the Jacuzzi bath and laundry machines in our room to enjoy a needed reprieve after 11 days of Andalusian exploration covering Seville Granada Ronda Malaga and our final stop. read more

Working in Hospitality, I wanted to experience the other side of the business and that was becoming a guest myself. I was able to connect with the staff as if they were my friends, I also loved this property and all it has to offer. The only downside was that they had some renovation at the time but it bothered us in no way. Would definitely come back soon! read more

Lovely accommodations and beautiful landscaping - lots of options for family activities and relaxation as well. Some of the service at the El Med was less than friendly and I wasn't at all impressed with their omelette - it was flavorless and a bit watery. Overall this is a great resort; the pools are all great, beach front lounge chairs were plentiful (I went in May) and the front desk was very accommodating. read more

Nice place, very nice location, and very spacious apartment style complexes. However, ran into trouble as soon as we checked in. Front desk gave us a hard time with our room reservation and made our check in much more stressful than we hoped for. Marketplace offers fresh pastries and bread in the morning so best to go as soon as they open to get breakfast while everything is still warm and fresh. Also has a variety of other foods, some produce, some frozen, personal hygiene items, etc... for marked up prices of course. Great fitness room with a decent variety of machines and work out spaces. Interestingly the kids pool closes at 2100 which is about dinner time in Spain. The sun doesn't go down until about 2200, and people stay up much later so it's kind of a bummer. Beach access is great, but not so much of a swimming beach, great for collecting shells though. There are full size kitchens, but kitchen supplies are limited and there are no grills on site. There is a large supermarket about 5-10 minutes away and is pretty convenient for picking up meal ingredients. Most stores do not open until 0900 or later in the area. There are a good amount of activity and game areas such as soccer courts, basketball court, a sand volleyball court, playground, and mini golf patch, but some games still require a fee like the pool tables. Overall, very nice place with average service, however, would not recommend. read more
