I have been an SOSer for 5 years now. Which makes it shocking that I'm just now getting around to…read morewriting review, especially since I'm such a mega-fan! I first heard about SOS from a few folks when I worked at L Brands. They had a few loyal customers with whom I worked. To be honest, I was a little intimidated when I'd see these folks post about their workouts on social media. I had thought about trying it circa 2017, but was too intimidated (my loss!). But in 2019, I ended up with a stress fracture while marathon training. I was able to barely finish my training for the NYC Marathon, which I did successfully complete in November 2019. But at that point, it was evident that I couldn't just keep running marathons without incorporating strength training into my routine. So in Christmas Week 2019, I started with the 7 class starter pack just to try it out. My first class was The Course with Kelsey. I felt comfortable because I knew Kelsey from work and luckily a few other co-workers happened to be in the class as well. I still remember during the warm up, I was thinking "dang this is tough!" And Kelsey even said "Much different than running a marathon, right Chelsea?!" She couldn't have been more spot on! I ended up feeling like the class was super tough but I was paired up with a coworker who was so supportive and kind (thank you, Shideh, if you're reading this!). By the time my 7 class pass was up, I was hooked and became a monthly member. I even joined Team Tread (their half & full marathon training program) in January to start training for the Nashville Half in April 2020. Unfortunately for me, my SOS morning routines were abruptly halted in March 2020. But luckily, my team tread registration got me into the "digital studio" which I had no idea what it was at the time. I very quickly uncovered that it's all the same studio instructors and they have recorded classes with new uploads almost daily as well as a huge library of online classes (which as you can imagine has only grown in the past 5 years). I did what everyone else was doing and immediately ordered as many dumbbells, resistance bands, and other equipment to build up a "home SOS studio" and my equipment has been growing ever since. I moved to Arizona in summer 2021, and have continued to be a dedicated Digital Studio user and advocate. Whenever I come home to Ohio (whether Cbus or Cincy), I get giddy at the thought of going to classes in person and it's a treat to choose which classes I'll take and with which instructors. I got married in June 2024 and I purchased the "Badass Bride" classes on the Digital Studio. As I was taking them and leaving comments the owner, Gretchen, messaged me and said she wanted to send me an SOS wedding gift. You'd never believe how touched I was to see a SOS tank, hoodie, sweat towel and t-shirt show up the week of my wedding. I'm still so honored by these thoughtful gifts. Someone I've never even met in person (which is hard to believe given how obsessed I am with SOS lol!) went out of their way to make my wedding week all the more special. I can honestly say SOS Digital Studio has helped me get in the best shape of my life. I feel like I personally know all of the trainers (I don't have social media anymore, but when I did, I followed all of them, so again, felt like I kew them personally). When I was in Hawaii for my wedding, SO many people were asking me about my arms and complimenting me. I kept trying to tell them about the DS and how special SOS is. I will always be a dedicated and loyal fan. It's become such a part of my routine that I'm on Christas Break now with my husband in Kansas (where he's from) and I've brought my ankle weights, light weights and loop bands just so I can get some classes in. Thank you, Gretchen and team for helping me be the best version of myself every day! Can't imagine what I'd do without the DS and my SOS training crew! (Only word of advice to newbies- the System DOES work! Don't skip out on any classes. As you can imagine, being a marathon runner, I favored all of the cardio classes. But it wasn't until I really started incorporating High & Tight as I prepared for my wedding that I noticed the chiseled arms that I'd always wanted. The class itself was ok - it's under infrared so I got a decent sweat but I'm not sure the workout itself was as hard as my sweat would lead you to believe (no second day soreness). The instructor said it was a old class layout they tried to revamp so I'd be willing to give it another shot but the overall format/moves felt like they were trying to do too much and less cohesive. That was a huge red flag and honestly I shouldn't have gone forward with it but I decided to do a $50 intro monthly membership as I was advised they have a money back guarantee and I would not be locked into a renewing membership moving forward as long as I did the 8 classes. You are required to go in person and cancel which again I found pushy but sadly ignored that one too The business has multiple locations in Columbus, but I found getting to them to be a bit of a hassle. The locations I went to didn't have a parking lot so I had to grab street parking each time which caused me to be rather frazzled getting in on time and settling down. I did several classes, they were just okay. The instructors were fine. Because of the aforementioned issues and just lack of satisfaction, I decided to cancel my membership when I went to my final class. Again, I was met with pushback and an attempt to sell me on renewing which I again refused (red flag 3) The next day I was called by ANOTHER person attempting to get me to reconsider my cancellation (red flag 4!) I advised I already stated I wasn't interested, that the working and commute situations weren't good and there's plenty of yoga studios in clintonville I can attend so I will just go there. I THOUGHT that was the end of it. Well today I noticed the charge on my account for another full month of membership for $99 (red flag 5!) at this point I felt like this was a seedy business and made sure to take a picture of my signed cancellation before I left that day. At this point I was absolutely furious. I had completed all my requirements when trying out the studio and found it wanting and so I didn't want to go any longer. I had not pressed to get my original payment back per the agreement but at this point, they aren't even honoring my cancellation and taking time out of my day to argue with them so I asked them to reverse the charge, that I want my original $50 back and I wanted nothing further to do with them. Emerald Dean responds back and because my issues with cancellation stated are logistics and parking and wasn't because I didnt "notice a difference in mind, body and spirit" (no I am not joking) it was not a valid reason to cancel I swear you cannot make this stuff up. Like how am I supposed to notice a positive impact in my mind body and spirit when I told you I hate the driving and parking and I don't want to go there anymore? Red flag 6 if you're still counting. Detailed pros and cons (price was the big one) for me laid out below. It was about a year ago that I left FE but i forgot to share this at the time; note that things may have changed since I left. PRO Unlike places like Club Pilates, the waitlist works pretty well but it wasn't difficult to regularly attend the same classes without even using waitlists. There were a few classes that worked really well with a 9-5 schedule. CON The cost was significant for me for a place you can't go to outside of scheduled classes. I totally get this is cheaper than one on one training and the quality is extremely high, but when friends and family asked me how much my training classes were, every single answer I gave was met with shock. While FE staff is very friendly and easy to talk to about membership, the absolute cheapest I could make work was the longest commitment. If you come from a two-income household this would be more reasonable, but as a one-income single person, it was not sustainable for me. There were weird moments for me personally, because there were specific "bring/tell your friends" promotional weeks, but all my friends are low-paid teachers and could never afford this. When I started to have some medical expenses and more recently a new car payment, there was no way I could keep paying for this (FYI they were very kind and willing to let me out of membership early). PRO This is a very high quality training experience with kind, personable trainers who are educated, tactful, and observant about who is in their class. For every class, the trainer prepares specific weights and routines that are personalized for every single person signed up. The equipment/space provided and sanitizing expectations are great, down to the number of weights, the individual stations, and the timers. CON There were more (simple things!) instructors could have done to create community. While people were never rude to me, many times when I went to a class with an instructor for the first time (new class time/new instructor for me) -- and this includes my very first class ever -- the instructors didn't facilitate/encourage introductions to the regulars, despite knowing I was new to that class. The class then felt very cliquey, because everyone else knew each other and had inside jokes. I'm an introvert and definitely struggled with that dynamic. CON Though I arrived appropriately early, many times I found I still would be the last one to class -- to the point where everyone else had almost finished warmups. That's supposed to be the point of including the warmup in the class time! I would then be behind the others the entire workout. It's not a competition, but it was difficult to not feel that way sometimes. CON I felt that the onboarding didn't fully click with me for the progression of the sequences in a class, or maybe that was my first class's instructor's fault. I did not understand at all the A then B then interval sequence back and forth, and was extremely confused as to what to do after each one for my first two-ish weeks. This rectified itself over time but I didn't even fully understand what I didn't understand. PRO There are supplemental (mostly paid) opportunities to take advantage of, from special classes to nutrition help to various video content pieces. PRO This is a small business, and the owner is very personable and easy to talk to about membership questions or concerns throughout your time there. Even though i didn't feel intentionally welcomed by the other classgoers, the instructors themselves were all very friendly and genuine.

You'll find both physical AND mental benefits from each class! -You can take a Jazzercise class at any fitness level. I have taken classes before kids, during pregnancy and after kids. The instructors offer directions and move accommodations for any and all fitness levels. -There are SO many classes available throughout the week! I am always able to find a class that fits my schedule, even if it is just squeezing in a 30 minute class at lunch. -Nearly all of their classes are live streamed so I don't even have to leave my house to take a class. -The community of this studio sets it apart for me. I have always felt at home whether I am live streaming a class or taking the class in person. This is a studio that truly cares. I felt a little déjà vu walking into the studio, similar to the first time I tried yoga. It was a feeling of embarrassment combined with the fear of actually dying on dance floor. Filling out waiver forms beforehand did not help the situation. Well it turns out there was nothing to be afraid of. We were the only ones who showed up (cold Sunday), so it turned out to be a private lesson of sorts. The class was fun and engaging. The 60 minute session flew by quickly. Jazzercise seems to be a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga and kickboxing. There was a lot of variety in the routine and I felt like all my major muscle groups were worked on. The non-stop music also helps you get into the routine. Even with two left feet, I was able to follow along (I think?) and the routines were not too complicated. It's also nice because you can sit out for a song or do fewer reps if necessary. Being with a group of friends/coworkers helped ease my transition into Jazzercise. To be honest, even with strangers, I think you would be hard-pressed to feel too self-conscious since you are too busy following the routine. Sure, Jazzercise may not be the manliest way to burn calories, but it's a damn good workout. You're pretty much constantly moving for 60 minutes. I am pretty sure i'll be sore in the morning. This Jazzercise center seems on the smaller side, but it's cozy and Jenna is awesome.
