Sadly like other users have experienced, the service for this loan servicer has gone downhill since I went through them when I closed on my first loan in 2021. Since then with the mortgaging switch and portal change, it is now virtually impossible get a hold of a human to resolve any issue. Mind you they also had a hick-up last year where they over-drew on customer's accounts. Unprofessional and disappointing experience. I have been trying to get them to respond to my request to remove PMI (which has met the loan term conditions) and I am still dealing with this since 3 months ago. Extremely disappointed with CMG's refusal to support my 97-year-old father, who acquired multiple late fees due to confusion around the portal and the fact that he was the repeated victim of fraud. He had thousands of dollars stolen from him by scammers, so I had to close several accounts and block his phone. We therefore missed communication from CGM, and late fees continued to accumulate. When this came to my attention, I spent hours on the phone with them and they refused to waive more than one fee, despite extreme circumstances. Apparently if they supported my dad, he might tell someone else, who would feel that THEIR late fees should be waived. Can't have that! Look elsewhere for lending options. read more

NEVER use CMG Financial. They switched from CMG mortgage to CMG Home loans and totally screwed up my closing. The "new" portal doesn't allow for customers to do anything they could before. I wasn't able to get a simple Payoff Statement (you could generate your own on the old site) and they're horrible customer service phone bank says you can't get the letter for 10 days! I was trying to close on the sale/buying a new house. I contacted them and requested the letter using the new system 6 days before my closing and it didn't come for 10 days. I had to contact an attorney. Now, I can't get my escrow balance refunded to me. DO NOT USE CMG HOME LOANS. read more

I've bought and sold many houses in my lifetime. I will never use CMG for anything ever again. I just sold a house and the buyers used CMG and the closing was screwed up nine ways to Sunday. it was so bad that the title company chastised them several times and my mortgage was through them so it was all in house. I was supposed to have closed days ago and they even delayed the close. The had all the paperwork for a month. Extremely poor service and no accountability. read more

Notified them of unpaid tax bill and "their investigation " has taken almost a month with still no resolution. You have to either fax or snail mail any request to them like it's still 1995. As a first time homebuyer I trusted these people to guide me through the process. That was a mistake. I'll just put it this way: The first year my mortgage was 2750. It is now 3371 a month. I took their advice and now I'm in a debt management program. I emailed them today about all this and have not received a reponse but I will update if they do respond. I don't hold out much hope looking at the other TERRIBLE reviews they have. I have never missed a payment or even been late. Its insane how greedy these people are. I will change companies as soon as I can but due to the extra 650 a month I am now paying I have had to file for debt managment and am in the middle of that so it will probably be a couple years before I have any options. They are terrible. To top it off they always send you cheery emails wishing a happy birthday and happy holidays and all the while you are drowning. Terrible. read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. They have held our escrow money that was due to be refunded, close to $8000 for over 6 months. Have called them 20 times to discuss and fix the matter and have still not been paid. If you are looking of a good mortgage company I would look elsewhere. After having a mortgage with CMG IN the beginning, it was great! Now That we no longer have them as a service provider anymore. They literally don't give a crap. My husband and I have called, left voicemails and emails too them to no avail or response back. We received an email about our 1098 form which we need to file taxes, But no longer have access to the account as we no longer have a mortgage with them. We received correspondence that our loan was paid off and they have our new address. After reaching out about having this form mail to us, No response even after two weeks. I have had to reach out to my realtor to see if she can get somebody to help us. Absolutely ridiculous after they get your money they give zero crap Whether or not you Were a customer. read more

I did not choose this company; my original mortgage company sold me BACK to this Cenlar subsidiary, CENLAR being the reason I had refinanced in the first place: to get away from this company. Nothing as changed -- though MOST of the representatives are a bit more polite than before. My mortgage, a standard FIXED loan which has been with CMG about 3 years, has seen a monthly increase of over 50% in that time. Mind you, this is a FIXED rate. And while insurance and taxes do increase each year, they have not increased but about 25%. All the customer service reps can do is repeat the same numbers that show up with the monthly statement while they claim their most recent escrow analysis of my account (which this year they tell me is completed in February -- though the most recent representative could not even tell me what the company's fiscal year was) supposedly shows an exorbitant shortfall. I refuse to do monthly AutoPay because I never have any idea what I will be paying -- but I can almost guarantee it usually reflects an increase, THIS time of over $1000 just for the month. However, at least once each year and usually about this time of year when I pay online as I always do( within the first 10 days of its due date to avoid any penalty), an EXTRA month's payment is automatically included. Mind you, this addition never shows up on the statement itself, and when the site asks what I want to pay that time, I put in the exact amount of the "amount due." That doesn't matter. It thanks me for the DOUBLE payment. When I call to say I cannot reverse that and I would prefer that to go into escrow, they say I cannot move it because I designated it as a payment. I never even designated an additional payment at all. If that happened once, I might think I didn't read the statement carefully, but now it has happened the same time each year. Add the regularly inconsistent monthly calculations and no justification for the fluctuations except "your escrow is falling short," sometimes even adding "we just completed our audit" to apparently add authenticity to a bogus reason, and I don't trust them at all. So the bottom line? DO NOT use them. If another mortgage company sells you to them, suck it up, refinance with a reputable company, and run -- RUN - - as fast as and as far away from them as you can. We recently completed the mortgage process with CMG (we are located in the Fayetteville, NC area.) We encountered multiple issues throughout the process and could never in good conscience recommend them to anyone. Firstly: communication is TERRIBLE. Read: nearly nonexistent. If we wanted information, we had to chase them down. Then, when we did finally manage to speak with someone, we'd get conflicting information almost every time. We'd hear one thing from one person, then something totally different from another. At one point, we asked them, for example, if they had obtained employment verification. For over a week, they said "no". The following week, we asked again. One minute we were told "still no". When we got testy in questioning why this had not been done, suddenly they had the verification. Reality: it had been sitting there for over a week but because they don't have their act together, no one said anything and the approval process was stalled as a result until we nagged them about it. This happened with multiple things. This extended even to closing, when we were told the day before it was to take place by one individual that the underwriter needed more information; another individual, however, sent us a "Clear to Close" text within minutes of having been told we needed to provide more information. So which was it? Turned out we were in fact "Clear to Close", but not everyone at CMG was aware of that. Do they just not talk to one another? Closing itself was delayed because people weren't coordinating with one another. Cash to close numbers were altered numerous times. The entire process was a messy, disorganized debacle from start to finish. Their website is heinous and, unlike many other lenders nowadays, offers you no way to view any real status updates. Their communication (or lack thereof) is even more egregious. To put a finer point on things: our closing attorney had never worked with CMG before and said he has no desire to do so ever again. He could not believe the trouble his office had to go to in order to get us to the closing table. Our realtor, similarly, was stunned by the lack of communication and unprofessional handling of the process. Basically, everyone involved -- i.e., people who do this every day for a living -- thought it was an extraordinary mess. Our impression of CMG was that of an extremely disorganized, chaotic, incompetent group of folks who have no sense of duty to the borrower and who lack the most basic customer service skills. To say we're unimpressed and underwhelmed is polite. Were we to start the process anew, we would absolutely choose a different lender -- one who actually seemed to want our business, cared on even a shallow level about how we were treated, and appeared to take their job seriously. An escrow home insurance error was made by CMG Mortgage. The first phone call was five hours long. I was told the issue would be resolved. The next mortgage statement forced me to try again for another four hours, 90% of which was spent "on hold waiting for a supervisor." This level of incompetency and poor customer service should be illegal, and customers should be compensated for their time. read more

DO NOT USE!! Getting the loan is a reasonable good experience. That is where it ends. DO NOT let this company service your escrow account/loan. In 2 years, I've had 3 separate failures to properly service the loan. My escrow is currently (according to them) 5 grand upside down and my payment for a year has gone up 800 dollars. That would mean my taxes went up over 150%. I have actually cut a check to my county because they were going to put a lien on my home. Zero communication. It's been almost a month, no resolution. I have no issue paying my mortgage, but due to glitch, I was kicked off auto pay, wasn't called till 3 months later to say I havnt paid,, so I tried to pay the full amount as soon as they called, but wasn't allowed to, they said I'm on probation, from paying. , I was only allowed to mail them in, so started mailing in payments, then they stopped taking them saying my cashier checks were fraudulent , tried over and over to send the money, I got the government involved, then they took it, then sent me a letter saying I'm off probation and to go web site and get back on auto pay, and instructions how to do it, but none of the buttons on the instructions are on the site, so I called them, they said I'm back on probation for another year yay!!!!!!, not to mention they will raise your mortgage from what u signed at your signing, would not recommend using this company, never had a NY company refuse to take money for payment read more

Terrible company to finance through. My escrow amount after the first year is insane. They paid my taxes which was WAY less then my actual taxes and have now increased my monthly amount by 700$. Who has an extra 700$ sitting around? Considering I'm a single mom this is almost an impossible amount to pay. I'm contemplating on closing the escrow account and just paying out of pocket. If I could give negative 5 stars boy would I. First of all, getting the loan for my house was a challenge from the start. Not only did the company mess up the first time, they messed up not once, not twice, but THREE times on my paper work... They even had to have the corporate office step in because my whole process trying to get my loan and house was a huge mess. Not to mention, there customer service is TRASH. I've been doing customer service for almost 10 years and the way their staff is set up is disgusting. If you're looking into trying to get a house please please DO NOT go to this place... they have no idea wtf they are doing and will screw you over. Terrible company after you get your loan. Great up until the point of them managing your mortgage. Customer service is awful, hold times long (30min) then they can't assist., they are holding way more in my escrow that are supposed to bc it's new construction and even though they said they would reanalyze it the town came out and reassessed my taxes... and I provided them the letter (which took forever to get the correct fax number) they still haven't done it. Said it would take 10 days and it's been 20. And when I called today and waited on hold for 30 min requesting it get escalated to the escrow team, she said that request was denied. Seriously!!!! So they hold more in escrow now than my actual taxes for the year and continue to take a $1003 a month to keep putting in to escrow! I will refinance as soon as rates go back down. read more

Don't do business with this company. I submitted an application because I'm in the process of looking for a home. My application was submitted before Thanksgiving and I patiently waited for a phone call. I never received a phone call. The realtor that I hired took it upon herself to call Chris about the status of my application. I guess Chris is one of the people that processes the application. I never spoke to Chris. Chris told the realtor my personal information to include the status of my application without speaking to me first! The realtor called me and told me what Chris said and the realtor acted shocked that Chris didn't call me. I called Chris several times to get information about my application to no avail. Elizabeth a Sales Manager that works for this company called me and she had no idea what was going on. Elizabeth got frustrated with me because I was mad about what Chris did. Chris texted me several hours later and told me he was "tied up and would call me the next day". I had to reach out to Chris several times the next day because he still didn't call me. Chris called me with the Bobby, the President of this company on the line and my request to file a dispute was ignored. The president ended up disconnecting our call and said they would mail me everything. Ridiculous! I'm very upset how this company handled my personal information. read more

MY Loan was switched over to CMG. I filed for tax exempt satus and submitted my paperwork prior to them paying my taxes. I called the office to inquire about my paperwork and was told they never received it even though I received a automated response. I called their office a week later and resubmitted with the rep putting in an ooen ticket request. I just received an email telling me they paid my taxes. I would like to speak to a supervisor about this. This is very poor customer service! Clearly, this was not handled with a sense of urgency! read more

Our loan officer, Liz, did not do her due diligence on my fiancé and I. Upon closing, we found that the Deed was completed incorrectly. We could not correct the Deed prior to closing without postponing closing. Additionally, days before closing, she knowingly sent an inaccurate closing disclosure and told us to open it, in order to prevent a delay in closing. She said she would send the corrected version the following day. Three days later, we had not received our corrected closing disclosure and feared our closing would be delayed. After emailing everyone we had worked with, Liz finally emailed our final closing disclosure at 9:30 pm on the eve of closing, while also blaming her procrastination on my fiancé. We chose this lender by recommendation of our home builder, Brohn. CMG makes Brohn Homes look bad. read more

Something doesn't smell right at CMG. They seem to have some serious data security issues, and they're not willing to admit it. If you have money in an escrow account with them, you should be very worried right now. We were recently under contract to sell our house. The buyer was struggling to secure financing, and they eventually had to pull out of the deal. They were not able to get a loan, but somehow they were able to get CMG to pay for a homeowner's insurance policy in their name using funds from our OUR escrow account. How's that even possible??? They used our money to buy insurance for someone else!!!??? My wife has spent the better part of two days on the phone trying to figure this out. CMG took nearly $1800 from our escrow account to buy insurance from a carrier we don't use for a buyer we don't have. They won't admit fault, but how can it NOT be the the fault of the company in charge of our money??? I can't blame the buyer, they were just trying to get insurance. I can't blame the insurance company, they were just filling a request for coverage. Who has the authority to spend funds in our escrow account without our approval? Only CMG can do this. CMG should admit they made a mistake, return the money to our escrow account, and contact their software's technical support to put a corrective action in place. Terrible customer service, but more concerning, absolutely horrifying account security. read more

This company embodies the idea of profits first and customer service at the minimal level possible. Everything about each and every interaction that I've had with this company is slow, inefficient and constantly underscores the reality that they are focused first and foremost in squeezing every cent out of you that they can. Wait times to talk to a person are obscene, I've ran out of battery on my phone multiple times waiting for a representative. Getting reliable and accurate information about my mortgage has proven practically impossible. Continuity and competence is non-existent , but the second you owe a dollar, expect a barrage of harshly worded mail, robot calls and e-mails all but threatening you to pay up or else. Absolutely unfair and unethical treatment by CMG. My home insurance company of 2 years for some reason did not apply for Autopay and it got lapsed this time. The moment I got intimation from CMG ( Stating in writing upload the proof of coverage ASAP failing which we shall go ahead and buy the coverage on your behalf & charge you ) I went ahead and bought the insurance from other company. Uploaded the proof & got the confirmation from CMG. After 2 months I get mail from CMG, we paid for your insurance ???. When I call the customer support immediately, I have been told that coverage was for those 10 odd days for lapsed coverage... and when I question about the clear communication from CMG stating "we shall buy if you do not provide the same " & stating I have provided and acknowledged by CMG, also why this is coming up after 2 months? There has not been any incident, my mortgage payments are in autopay..also ... Why CMG did not provide me policy details if they had bought the coverage for me 2 months back ? and why why is it stated in letter comms that we shall buy if you do not provide????.. ..all that I get answer from customer support is sorry.. there is nothing we can do about it. Absolutely frustrating experience and feel like CMG is just taking advantage of there position. Its really not about the money they are charging but the unethical treatment & inappropriate communication and bad customer service. read more

Cenular bought my Mortgage from Evolve Bank and Trust. Then they transferred me to CMG Mortgage which is basically the same company! My Mortgage payments went to the wrong account. I had to call 6 times to get this straightened out. The customer service is horrible. No one tries to help you. They say to call another department or send your request in writing. I hope another mortgage company takes over my mortgage soon because CMG SUCKS!! read more

My experience with CMG started out good and then went downhill. I'm a first time home buyer and inexperienced with the process. I needed help with my credit along the way. Antonio was very helpful and advising what I needed to do and to get me to where I needed to be. He worked hard on getting me qualified and approved for down payment assistance. This process started the beginning of summer. I had a closing date for late October. Then 2 days before I was to close I receive a call saying that my loan was not going to be approved at this time. So all this time back and forth for 3 months they've seen my financial situation, my w-2s, bank statements, and 401k statements. I paid things off the lender advised to pay off, I paid credit cards down that the lender advised, and I gave letters of explanation they asked for. So they had all this information well in advance. Only to call me 2 days before closing to tell me the lender doesn't think I'm financially ready for this because I didn't have 6 months of payments in reserves. Which they knew from day one that I didn't. I'm not sure why this carried on for 3 months only to call me 2 days before closing to tell me the loan's not going to go through. I understand anything can happen up till day of closing. However the fact that my financial situation wasn't good enough for them should have been mentioned way in advance. So today I went and spoke to a new home builder told her the situation and she told me they don't require reserve to be in your bank account, just as long as you have the money saved and ready to go on day of closing. She said she doesn't know of many lenders that require 6 months reserve and if they do, why they wouldn't tell you in advance? read more

Hot garbage. Our homeowners policy was cancelled (separate issue). We obtained the needed coverage with 2 months to spare. 2 months! Confirmed on insurance companies end they sent the documents to cmg. I also faxxed them twice and emailed them. And now I've just uploaded them via they're "self service" portal. Either all of their employees are lazy or they just don't have anyone willing to do their jobs. No worries though. I'm refinancing with someone else. CMG is not worth your time. I'd finance elsewhere even if it had a higher interest rate. read more

I called today 12/9/2020 at 2:50 PM CST to customer service and Spencer with no Agent ID or reference call # stated my budget drafting was set to draft $773.43 on Nov 11.  The agent (Spencer) was rude and talking over me (the customer), mentioned that he has no access to see future payments except for the one on Nov 11th. We have had horrible service since August when we requested to set the budget drafting and still has not been cleared. Every month we get the same answer and nothing happens. I would like to have a supervisor or manager call me and have this fixed ASAP. I am not satisfied with the service this company has provided us and customer service lines are not knowledgeable enough to answer my questions or help my problem to be resolved. read more
