DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!! I signed my lease with a different company but they bought this rental I'm staying in so I now have to abide by them. I always pay my rent on time, never give anyone issues and there was a problem with my sewer downstairs that they have access through on the side of the house OR through my apartment. I wasn't able to show up at the time they said they were coming so they are illegally trying to charge me $150 for a "no show fee". No where in my lease does it say I'd have to pay something like this per an occurrence. They're a shady property management company who clearly doesn't want buisness. Oh when I called & told them I'm not paying it and what theyre TRYING to do is illegal he started laughing at me and mocking me over the phone. I have this phone call recorded. Super unprofessional. I had a 9:45 AM showing and when I showed up I rang the bell, knocked on the door, and called the realtor multiple times after a few minutes went by with no response. Nothing. So I showed up to the office and just waited a few minutes, hoping to run into someone who can show me the house. Eventually, Kevin shows up and I explain the situation to him and tell him I was there, nobody showed up, and I wasn't able to see the house. He insists that he *was* there and that *I* was the one who never showed up. When I showed him proof that I called two separate phone numbers (the one on Google and the one that was given when I confirmed my booking) he told me his phone was dead and that "phones die sometimes". When I told him he should have been on the porch or somewhere visible so he could get in touch with his client, he got EXTREMELY upset and called me aggressive, began swearing, and told me he wasn't going to show me the house. I immediately got up and began to leave because of his erratic and aggressive behavior and he jumped out of his seat and began to chase me out while still screaming at me. Kevin is extremely dangerous and aggressive towards women and creates an extremely unsafe environment on top of not showing up to showings and ultimately treating prospective tenants in extremely horrific ways. Overall, I would not recommend anyone rent from this space or even go to a showing as it is not a professional (let alone safe) environment. He seems like the kind of person who would put his hands on a woman who calls him out on his lies, even at his workspace. Would certainly avoid this company. Had a scheduled viewing for Noon and received a text saying they were running 15 minutes late (ok fine), half an hour later I was still waiting, no text, no call, no nothing, so I left. This is the middle of a work day so had to take time from my busy schedule to come see this place. Still have not heard from them. No call apologizing... nothing. Also it was all automated, never heard from a human being. Be prepared to be peppered with texts confirming the day/time from an automated number even though it won't matter because one of their agents probably won't show up. Honestly, still not sure if this place is a scam altogether. read more

We owned 2 duplexes in Syracuse for the past 5 years and went through several property managers as well. Two years ago, we approached CNY Asset Management about taking over the management but did not. A year later, after losing money to my previous property management company, I decided to give New York and CNY Asset Management one last chance to turn things around. Fortunately, Sean Corcoran was able to turn the duplexes around without any problems as in the past with the other management companies. I have found Sean to be very patient and responsive to my many inquiries. If anyone asked me who I would recommend to manage my rental properties in Syracuse, I would definitely say Sean Corcoran of CNY Asset Management. read more

Sean Cocoran and Fernando are extremely irresponsible, crooked, and slimy with the way they treat their customers. They try to get extra money at every turn. When parts of the property broke, they went MIA and refuse to communicate. When they need money, they harass and use their crooked contracts to swindle money from customers. They tried to keep $800 in security deposits from everyone in my house when nothing was broken or damaged. At the same time they were lying to the people who hired them. The house needed to be cleaned...sure. It did not need $15,000 in repairs like they said it did. Sean is a crook and so is his company. Please, save yourself and do not give these crooks any more money. read more

I own 7 properties in Syracuse and Sean and CNY Asset Management have managed them for me the past 10+ years. They have the most professional and organized management company in CNY. About 5 years ago I tried to save some money by hiring another property manager. After 3 months of neglect I moved on to a third company. That relationship also only lasted 3 months. I quickly found that CNY Asset Management was the only property management company in Syracuse that has processes in place to handle a large volume of tenants, maintenance people, and property owners. Not only did the landlord rarely ever respond when we reported problems with the apartment but at the end of the year, he took all of our security deposit claiming that we had created damages that were there before we moved in. I found out he'd also done this to the previous tenants and when I made him aware of the obvious way he was trying to do the same thing to us, he still wouldn't give our security deposit back. If you are renting from this company or otherwise dealing with Sean Corocan don't expect any respect or your money back. read more

Rented from this company for two years, the house was a bit rough when we were first shown but we were told that it would be spotless before moving in. First day in the house we were left with mold, garbage, food in the freezer, etc. Roof leaked during rain storms, maintenance just spray painted the water spot and never actually addressed the problem. After finally leaving we were charged 1/2 of our security deposit to fix pre-existing problems that we did not cause, after explaining this to Sean he had nothing to say; would not recommend. read more

came to the decision to hire a new property manager for my Syracuse real estate investments this past winter. After scheduling a trip to come to town the following week, I started calling around to property managers who came up in various online searches. Out of the eight or so management companies that picked up the phone, four of them seemed like it would be worth scheduling a meeting with. CNY Asset Management was very prompt in returning my initial phone calls which I took as a good sign. The company owner, Sean Corcoran, also brought along one of his employees to answer some additional questions at our first meeting. I was impressed to see that sort of effort up front. In comparison to other property managers I met with, CNYAM was hands down the most organized and professional from my first encounter. I found them to be much more motivated build a good reputation as a management company, and they had a solid understanding of a healthy tenant/landlord relationship. I expect a property manager to have open communication with my tenants and to have a good handle on what's happening at each of my properties. Sean talked at length about dealing with various tenant issues from lease renewals and late fees to repair items in a prompt and contentious way that left everyone feeling like they were treated fairly. Taking good care of my investments and addressing tenant related issues quickly was very important to me. Being a good landlord is a responsibility that requires attention and organization. If I'm going to expect tenants to pay on time and treat my properties with respect, then my manager needs to hold up the owner's end of the deal. I was really impressed that CNYAM had dedicated people to handle various components the tenant/landlord relationship (rent collection, repairs, apartment turnover, billing, etc). After deciding to hire CNYAM, that hands-on people driven approach has really helped in working through some tough situations passed on from the previous property manager. I've had them managing my properties for seven months now and all my apartments are fully leased for more money than they have ever been. One of the biggest differences in making my decision was that CNYAM has a great system for screening potential tenants and handling work orders. CNYAM uses online tenant screening tools to sort through dozens of prospects and find the most qualified potential tenants before they schedule any appointments. They also use their software to notify both the current tenant and the prospective tenant about appointments so no one falls through the cracks. Their online system that coordinates workflow management where tenants can notify CNY about repairs and monitor progress online has been well received; most of my long term tenants have opted into the website and are now submitting repair requests online. I also like their online owner reporting features, so I can keep a handle on what's happening from afar. Overall, CNYAM seems particularly well set up to manage properties on the University and Tipp Hill as they already have a number of assets under management in those areas. So far I'm very happy with my decision. read more
