Originally I was looking for counseling to help me navigate my feelings around my mom with ALS, with whom I didn't have a good relationship, and since then, she has helped me grow into such a calm, collected, understanding, and strong person. I'd always considered myself strong, but I was very closed off from certain feelings. I can now feel all the things that arise and not be debilitated by them, including the overwhelming empathy I used to have. I can sit comfortably with people I don't agree with, I've learned the power of listening over simply talking, my marriage is absolutely incredible despite serious health challenges and other things life throws, and I am a truly optimistic person now rather than being more of a "realist" who focused more on possible negative outcomes. Life feels fuller, my career(s) keep evolving into better things, and even when I'm not struggling with any issues actively, I still love to have a session and reflect on the current state of life or possible future goals. Prior to my sessions with Rochiel, I was insecure, had fear of abandonment due to the dynamics of my childhood and I would often allow myself to enter abusive relationships with the same type of emotionally unavailable men. The destructive pattern of failed relationships was clearly coming from my subconscious beliefs about myself, and I knew I had to change my sabotaging programming to create the life I envisioned for myself that I simply couldn't change with just how I saw myself on a conscious level. She was nice, friendly, and funny. She was right on target about things she mentioned about me. She said that soon I was going to meet someone with a really nice smile, someone who wore some type of hat for work. Lo and behold, two weeks later I met a guy that I actually liked. Nice smile and teeth. Ha! And he worked as an engineer for a construction company- hence the hard hat. I thought it was cool that she was on point with that. Maybe it was a coincidence though? We ended up dating seriously, but had our ups and downs. Less than a year later, I messed up, and he broke up with me. I was beyond devastated. My heart was shattered. I was desperate for guidance. I called Lindy hysterical, waterfall of tears. She said calmly, "I know you're upset and this feels like the end." So matter of fact, she goes, "You know, I still see the wedding. And a couple of kids."
