We stopped on our way to Yellowstone. It's a typical small town eatery with American flags on the tables. It was pretty busy with what I assumed were locals. I had chicken livers and gizzards (yes, I know I'm strange...) and the best baked potato I've had in my life. The potato was light and fluffy inside and with butter and sour cream, was absolutely delicious. My husband had a cheeseburger and fries and he was pleased with that too. Traveling from Virginia to Vancouver, Canada, on a Harley, we've eaten in many local restaurants. Coachlight Cafe ranks in the top 10. Many locals were having a leasurely lunch and everyone knew everyone...except for us city folks. The menu is surprisingly eclectic for this neck of the woods. Peanut Bacon Badger Burger, Coachlight Special Burger (cream cheese, jalapeno jelly and bacon!) to name a couple. I had the Badger on Fire....burger with jalapenos and pepper jack and a spicy sauce. We stopped here while on vacation. The food was very good, the choice of food is good, the place is easy to get to and very clean. Our server was very good and friendly. The only real complaint is the cushions in the booths need replaced, they are not very comfortable. read more

Had the Coach Light Inn Burger. Interesting combinations. Juicy and with a handmade patty. Good fries. Why are they pictures of Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn on the wall? The carpet was new in 1975 and the bathroom needs a remodel. These items are fully depreciated. Use that Trump tax cut and exercise some animal spirits and make these improvements. Please. read more

Got there early before the crowd. Hubby ordered the special, Chopped Steak. It was good and big, but the cooked carrots that came with it looked liked they had been cooked for 3 hours. I just ordered a hamburger w/sweet potato fries. They kept our drinks filled, just until we were done. When we finally got our check, we weren't sure if we were supposed to pay the server or go up to the register. We put our credit card down on top of the receipt, but she walked by multiple times, so we finally figured she wasn't coming back to collect our money. Several others at another table were unsure about how to pay too, and we all finally walked up to the counter at the same time. Then a guy came out of the kitchen to collect the money. read more

I got the deluxe cheeseburger with a side of sweet potato fries, and HOLY SMOKES! The absolute best fries I've ever had, and I've had them from several places. Cooked just right with a sweet side of I'm not sure but you could eat the fries straight. The burger juicy and perfectly cooked. Had a great lunch there. The chicken fry was fork tender and the hamburger steak was much more than I expected. They made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was very down home & friendly family atmosphere. Clean and comfortable place with good price and you can get an adult beverage if you like. Stopped into the coachlight for a drink. This was originally a potential dinner stop for us, but the group ended up deciding against a full meal. We did sample the cheese balls and spicy potato tots, both of which were pretty good. I'm sure the food is fine too, but the reason we didn't stay was mostly attributable to the fact that our group were the only patrons on a Friday night. Yes Valentine is a small town, but nobody else in here? Also, why was there a whole tray of cinnamon rolls sitting out on the bar? Why did the bartender flat up refuse to make a manhattan when they clearly have booze? I just didn't get the best feelings here, and ultimately we left feeling a little estranged. read more

Great local place. My husband and I decided to stop here for dinner while passing through Valentine . It was terrific. We wish were staying longer so that we could eat here again. We had the rib eye dinner and it was delicious. The peach pie was made by the owner and was perfect. Mike, the owner, was our bartender and waiter and is very personable. He is local and knows lots of information about the area. And is willing to chat about it. They also serve lots of burgers and have a nice salad selection if youre looking for less than a full dinner. A must stop place when in Valentine. read more
