We all have different things we need and look for when choosing our trusted gyno. For me, it has been an upwards battle trying to find the right one - I have had some seriously weird and terrible experiences (where I actually have decided since, to bring someone with me at all times)! I speak Spanish and can explain what I need but sometimes there is a cultural disconnect. I have found that women understand me best and it has been hard to find a good institution (where I'm covered) that has a female gynecologist with whom I feel comfortable. That is why I was so happy when two of my expat contacts recommended Andrea who works in Clinica Alemana. Although she seems to be listed under the adolescent section of the site, if you contact her directly, she might be able to make an exception. I know she is maxed out with patients (she'll need to clone herself!) but I definitely recommend even to just get a routine checkup and then ask for a referral for a colleague.

Located on Pedro de Valdivia in Nuñoa, Dentist Pedro Terrazas Soto has a small but clean office. I…read morewas looking for a dentist to do a routine cleaning and a friend of mine recommended Dr. Terrazas. She said he had tons of experience and went to Universidad de Chile (one of the top universities in Santiago). She said he has done tons of different procedures such as tooth extractions, x-rays and "tratamiento de conducto"(I'm not 100% sure what that is). What sold me on him was that she had just gotten her wisdom teeth out and within 2 days she was feeling completely better - without any swelling. She said he had recommended she took out one each week instead of all of them at the same time and that is what saved her. I thought it was great of him to give inside info like that and to treat his patients so well, so I decided to make an appointment. I called and made an appointment with his friendly assistant and was able to get an appointment the next week. As I arrived to the address, I have to be honest, I was a little hesitant to go in (a detail she forgot to mention was that his office is also his house and from the outside looks a bit run-down). However, I continued in and was met with his assistant in a waiting area filled with magazines, a TV and comfy chairs. As he was cleaning my teeth, he was cracking jokes and was an all-around a nice guy. I had a good experience and my teeth looked and felt great! Tip: He starts attending patients at 3pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Bicycles are welcome as he has a garden outside with space to lock them up. He does diagnostics for free and then you can decide if you want to continue with him.
