The hotel is centrally located with good restaurants nearby and the bus stop to Banff across the street. The peephole on my door was open, no privacy cover. The floor in my room felt insecure like you're walking in a trailer and there's no padding between the wood paneling and the cheap carpet. Someone in the hallway or next door could be walking and shake my floor. I worried the people underneath me could hear me walking. I could hear my neighbor coughing in bed. When my neighbors opened their doors it creeped me out because it sounds like my door is being opened. I stayed on the 3rd floor facing the front of the hotel and on top of the window is lights. This means that inside my room it never got dark at night because the light seeps in from both sides of the closed curtains and the top. See the curtains are 6 inches away from the window. What that large gap so much light from the roof lights come in and illuminates the whole room and I need a dark room to sleep in. You don't have to turn on any lights to go to the bathroom since the room is so bright. The a/c was so loud! It sounded like a truck was driving through. The lobby bathroom is beautiful but the handicap stall is hard to lock and I got worried about being trapped inside. The other stalls are too small, see they didn't measure properly when they built them as you have to jump over the toilet to close the door. Then the hook for your bag is over the door lock as if I want my bag touching that. Did a man build the women's bathroom? Because its clearly not practical for use. The paper towel holders are too stuffed so you can't pull one out so instead I used the cheap looking one on the wall. Speaking of paper, two nights in a row I didn't get a spare roll of toilet paper in my room. They have a whole wall of pamphlets for tours but when I asked the front desk for a hiking map they didn't have one. I also went to the Banff tourism office but they told me they don't cover Canmore. Canmore has a tourism office but it's clear on the other side of town. I wanted a map to show me the trails I can take around town. We stayed two nights at the end of August. In town for a wedding, we chose this location based on the bride/groom's recommendation and its proximity to the wedding venue. We were busy all weekend so didn't get to take advantage of any of the amenities (pool, restaurant/lounge, workout facilities), but our room was very comfortable. We requested a quiet room and were placed on the 2nd floor at the end of the hall overlooking the back parking lot (by the way, we found it so much easier to park back there than in front which was super crowded). While we could occasionally hear our neighbors above and beside us, it was overall peaceful. There are some food and drink options right outside the hotel doors, and you're also an easy 10-15 minute walk to downtown Canmore. We happily left the car parked at the hotel and did all our exploring on foot. Staff was friendly when we checked in and greeted us each time we returned. My only gripe is that they charge for parking. It's a nominal $10/night, but I'd guess most people staying here are driving a vehicle, so why not just work this into the room rate? Anyway, I'd happily stay here again. read more

We stayed at Coast Canmore Hotel after a wedding and discovered a centipede crawling in our bed around 1AM. I had just lifted the blankets when I saw it. We immediately contacted the front desk. Staff came to change the sheets and duvet but informed us there were no other rooms available. At that hour, we had no option but to stay in the same room. We were told to speak with the manager the next morning -- after checkout. When he finally called, he downplayed the issue, saying it was "part of nature" and not their fault. He only agreed to a 15% discount, and even that was offered reluctantly. This hotel is in the middle of Canmore, not a campsite. Pests in the bed are unacceptable, and the dismissive attitude from management made the situation worse. I would've appreciated a sincere apology and reasonable compensation -- instead, we got excuses. Management already has my contact information. We usually stay at chain hotel chains but our options were limited for our stop here. We decided on the Coast Canmore and were overall impressed. It's centrally located with good restaurants and shops nearby. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were updated as well. Those were about the only highlights though. We had ants in our rooms crawling on the wall by the patio door. We were awoken at 1:30AM due to no insulation in the walls, hearing the entire conversations of our neighbors and their slamming doors. Parking cost money when there is no reason to charge for that. And of the 4 of us, only one got a good night sleep. The rest of us were tired in the morning. read more

This is alternate hotel for our Caravan tour group because of the recent fires in Jasper. It was a nice town hear (lots of shops and restaurants) and the hotel was comfortable. This hotel is good enough, probably a 2 star hotel. My main reason for a one star review is because of the challenges. The air conditioning would shut off every night and when we weren't in the room and it would get very musty and hot. The hot water wasn't working the first 3 nights which is really disappointing given the cost per night. We opted to do the green program to cut down on how often they cleaned the room. They came to clean once during the visit and didn't refresh the towels, didn't give new sheets. I thought the whole point was new towels? The room was ok, bedding was subpar. The restaurant downstairs tasted like nothing. My main complaint isn't the hotel itself but the value based on the price paid. read more

Friendly staff and phenomenal location. It was one of the better prices and I booked on a whim so didn't have many choices left. I'd stay again if in town. A couple small gripes - the top sheet they use doesn't fit right and it shifts around the bed and is uncomfortable. The ACs turn off when you leave the room. There isn't a free breakfast. Otherwise it's a good spot and the staff were friendly and helpful and they were relaxed about letting me check in a little early which was nice. Two huge shoutouts, Mia from the restaurant and Kurt from the front desk reception. AMAZING JOB performed in both your stations throughout our 6 day stay here at Coast Canmore Hotel. Mia was very attentive to our requests, timely in food deliverance and follow ups, and even more knowledgeable in the menu, local hot spots and generally speaking very informative on town knowledge. Great attitude too Mia, wonderful. Kurt is the model display of respectful and all things customer service. He had such a wonderful demeanor and attitude in explaining charges, amenities available in the hotel and very thoughtful suggestions made that made this trip even more comfortable than the room. He recommended a local Korean restaurant that we took his advice on and made this experience less homesick for us busy travelers. His presentation was very clean as well and had an impressive polished appearance that did the hotel justice in image. The BBQ chicken was amazing Kurt thx! The Hotel itself is clean, perfectly located next to the downtown area and important restaurant spots like The Drake and Blake. Convenient parking, baggage trolleys, a very friendly staff (particularly house keeping & front desk) and tons of gorgeous views. Pool, jacuzzi and weight room were all kept clean and organized, much appreciated. Pricing, a little on the high side but to be expected for location, location, and location. The sheets were a nightmare. Not only did the bottom sheet not stay in place (exposing the mattress), but the duvet sandwich didn't stay in place, either, resulting in a tangle on the bed. To add further disappointment, we had housekeeping knocking on our door at 9:30 on Sunday, despite a 12 noon checkout time. I am a Coast Rewards member. I stay through the year at multiple different location Coast Properties.We on this trip were on a drive-thru town from Ft.McMurray to Vancouver. I had called the hotel several hours ahead (2:30pm) to request the keys be pre-checked for an expedited check-in, I was denied the request, as they said they need to see the credit card.They said Check in time was 4 pm. I stay in hotels all the time, and it is a convenience most hotels will extend to its travelling customers. We arrived at 5:30 pm, I had booked 2 rooms, one for me and one for my travelling partner. We were told one of the rooms was not ready. It was 5:30 pm, after driving 600km, we did not want to hear this. Too much red tape here. No acknoledgement of being a Rewards member. Absolutely loved our stay here. The hotel has recently been renovated but still kept some of the original charm - the stone fireplaces. Our room was a corner suite with windows on two walls. The in-room coffee is Starbucks. It is a clean contemporary feel with environmentally respectful soaps and shampoo. We dined in the hotel restaurant. I can't remember when I have had such a fabulous dinner. I had the braised beef while my hubby opted for a burger because I never finish my dish. Those of you who read my reviews know how important portions are to my big boy. This chef did not disappoint. The butternut squash risotto was indescribably delicious. This is now going to be our destination hotel. It literally has everything AND what it doesn't is a short walk across the street at a adorable new shopping centre. Positives: The bed was really comfy and the food at the restaurant was delicious. Location was good. Negatives: For the price of the room it was surprising it didn't have a fridge or microwave. Most rooms I've been in at least had a microwave. Even some cheap motel rooms. Even though the restaurant food was good it was a bit pricey and not some place I wouldn't take my kids cause of the limited food options. The walls were thin and we could hear every sound and footstep outside our room. There was some what looked like coffee spilled on the bathroom door. Me, my husband & his friend stayed here for a night on a vacation we took recently :) We got a 2-bed room with queen beds in it. The room was nice, clean; nothing really special but it was nice. They had a nice little video rental thing going, where you could choose from some DVDs that they had on hand and grab a DVD player from the front desk, and it was all free, so that was cool. The restaurant in here is really good too - a touch pricey I suppose, but not really overly expensive. We had breakfast there & the food there was really good :) I had apple waffles - so delicious! My husband and his friend were also quite happy with their food :) I would say while the rooms were nothing out of the ordinary, I did notice the high quality of a lot of the smaller touches - like the shampoos & things in the room were really nice, they had Tazo tea bags with a little coffee machine in the room (Tazo is a rather good tea brand)... they also were more environmentally-conscious; like they had larger pump-bottles in the showers instead of only small shampoo bottles, and had a small recycle bin as well as a little garbage can in the room. I really appreciated little things like that :) Where this place gets the 5 stars is really on the service from the front desk staff. I would say that aside from the great experience with the staff, it would get 4 stars, but I was really quite impressed by them. My husband and I had a bit of an issue when it turned out our friend was a snorer, and we couldn't get any sleep. I only had one pair of ear plugs on me, which I gave to my husband, leaving me tossing and turning.... So I checked at the front desk if there were any earplugs on hand there. There was this French guy there at the time - he couldn't find any at the desk, but when I explained the situation to him, instead of just being all "no, sorry, no sleep for you", he really went out of his way to dig up some earplugs from elsewhere in the building so I could sleep. And when he noticed I was coughing (I had a lung infection at the time) he personally got me honey to add to the tea provided in the room. I was really impressed by that. This hotel was horrible. I booked the weekend here for my wedding anniversary in Canmore. Upon check in I was advised none of my cards worked to purchase the room. I call my credit card company and my bank who both stated there should not be a problem. Next the girl at the front desk states that I could NOT AFFORD the room. I asked to speak to a manager who was able to sort it out as the cards had to be inserted in the machine. Not swiped. We booked one of the renovated rooms and it is not what we got. Upon entering our room you could see the dust on everything as it had not been properly cleaned in years it looked like. There was stains all on the head board. Stains red in color on the chair. The bathroom had someone else's toiletries still left in there and hair on the sink counter. The bathroom make up mirror was covered in fingerprints. The fridge had so much dust on top it looked speckled with paint. The next day we left at 10 am and asked to have room service come in and clean. We arrive back at noon and no one had come. We asked again at noon which they told us to leave for a bit they would clean it. Came back at four and nothing was done. We asked them to come again at 430. Came back at 8 and still nothing. I went to front desk where the man at front desk and the boy cleaning rooms rolled their eyes at me and said he would go do it. We went for a drink and came back up - I could of had a two year old child do a better job at making this bed. On top of it all we paid for mountain view and got a roof top view of all the generators. I will never come back to a coast hotel in my life - I am sure I could not "afford" this dump again anyways. Had to go to a buddies wedding in October over thanksgiving weekend so booked in at the Coast Canmore. Reception staff-friendly and helpful. Rooms- good value for the price - clean, well appointed and comfortable. Gym - small but well equipped and hardly anybody there . OK sized pool and hot tub to relax in afterwards. Only thing is that the pool and gym facilities are in a separate building so you are walking through the rain (or snow) to get there...not a big deal though. read more

I have stayed at many hotels and this one was interesting stay to say the least. Check in the first day was a mixed up mess. This was a pre-booked room with an upgrade. When we got there the up grade was not available due to booking. The room was on the main floor down from reception, definitely NOT worth the charged rate. Room was ok, nothing special. The beds were hard like sleeping on a concrete slab. The pillows had better days and had the form of partially filled water balloon. The hotel was trying to play the environmental game, it was not done well, even the recycle container was extremely small. Towels were probably the hotels first purchase and they were getting their money's worth. In 4 days stay the room was never properly and thoroughly cleaned. When we arrived the one bed had obviously blood on the sheets from the person who made the bed. Glasses, cups were never completely changed out and each day after cleaning staff had left a least one used cup or glass. Even the top of handle on the fridge had the remnants of previous stays. It is highly doubtful the room was completely vacuumed as I had left items like a pistachio shell to see if was going to be cleaned up and not to my surprise was there after room was supposely cleaned. Cleaning staff were slow, room was NOT ready to go until some days as late as 4 pm. Look forward to staying out of your room most of the day if want your room partially cleaned. Each day I woke up early to cleaning bins and carts in the hallways ALL day. The last two nights we enjoyed party people from 10 pm on, laughing and yelling long into the night. Finally, the last night I had to phone the front desk staff at 1205 and ask them to have it shut down so I could get at least some sleep. The noisy guests must have thought they owned the hotel the way they carried on. Their hotels doors were probably left open to the hallway. The walls are thin and it was great to listen to the room next door snoring. These are just a few of my observations, my suggestion; bring a tent and sleep in the Park. At least I have these and many more interesting events to share with family and friends. read more
