I made an appointment at this office for my son and they took x rays and recommended he remove his wisdom teeth , I was not happy with the consult w the oral surgeon , she was very quick and said we would just give 3 pills before surgery which scared me and my son. I went there on a referral to see about my diagnosis of TMJ and to possibly get treatment. Finding an oral surgeon to treat TMJ is like looking for a needle in a haystack, and I was grateful to have found one who takes my insurance, even though it is nearly 50 miles from my home. I filled out paperwork online, even though I am a Coast patient in a different office. My primary doctor faxed the referral weeks ago, and even gave me a "just in case" copy. I got to the appointment 15 minutes early. I signed in and waited. And waited, for an hour and 15 minutes after arriving. There was one patient who was still sitting there when I left. The person at the desk never spoke to me. I asked what was happening after an hour. The tech did take me in to get 360° x-rays, then took me to an exam room. Suddenly, he returned with some news: the oral surgeon wouldn't see me, didn't treat TMJ! WHY was I there if not for this very reason? I wish I could refer to the elusive oral surgeon by name but I can't because he/she left the bad news delivery to someone else! I get to the location and they tell me that dentist isn't there and they don't know who it is. Then was told a denist who took my insurance was not available that day so I would have to come back. I made a same-day appointment as a first-time patient. When I arrived, there was one man in the waiting room. Then, later, about five people when in and out while I was waiting to be seen. Each time I asked the receptionist how long before the hygienist called me. She said now, but now never came. She also said (with a grin) that the hygienist's X-ray machine was down, and my insurance had to go through first! After 1 hour of waiting, I told them to cancel my appointment because I didn't have confidence in these people going into my mouth. The answering system for this office is terrible. Every time I call it gets filtered through to an overseas phone bank, who also rarely are able to get someone at the office. I have to drive there to speak to anyone. The billing system is just as bad, supposedly electronic, but a week after the service, my insurance company still does not have the claim Meanwhile the office sends me daily texts to pay that claim. I swear all dentist offices are pretty much the same. Sometimes you're in and out and sometimes you're there forever. I've been to this Coast Dental location a handful of times in the last year and most visits have taken about an hour. Sometimes I'll arrive on time and still end up waiting 30-45 minutes to be seen. Other times they were ready for me as soon as I walked in the door. The hygienists that have worked on my teeth have all been quite friendly and knowledgeable. I was much more comfortable with the staff in this office than I was at the coast dental in Lakeland. What impressed me most about this location was when i first went I didn't have dental insurance anymore. When I told them this, they immediately marked the prices way down on a lot of the services. Wow! thanks! I still have to pay $20 for a tube of prescription toothpaste, though. The actual office itself is in better condition than the Lakeland location, too. Seems a bit newer. My biggest complaint would be that they play muzak in the waiting room AND have the volume on on the TV. WTF!? This is a double whammy of terrible shmaltzy easy listening 80s one hit wonders and whatever crap is on the Today Show or The View or whatever. PICK ONE! read more

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!!!! They could not finish a root canal from February 2020, had to pay a difference in April 2020, went back in May 2020 and they couldn't finish the work. They don't give you a full bill when they're giving you a crown they will give you a portion of the bill for the first part of the procedure so that when you come back to finish it they will then try to hand you another $2000 bill and expect you to somehow pay it without ever receiving an estimate previously, so you think you have it covered when you paid the first portion but nope, and then your screwed cause you already have a whole drilled in your tooth that they pushed off 2weeks after you had to rescheduled because you had set it up the next day but they wanted you to wait over half an hr in the lobby because they weren't ready for you the first time. And don't expect to be able to ever get a call back even if they tell you they will at the end of the day. read more

I don't even know where to begin with my review, besides saying I wish I didn't have to give this place even 1 star, honestly they deserve a -10 and that would be me being nice. This place is such a disgrace, I don't even see how they are still in business. Not only does the staff suck, their office is dirty and not very clean. So I have Sunshine Health Medicaid and when I first got it, it took me awhile to find a dentist, but once I did, I made an appt and found out I needed some teeth surgically removed. This is where the nightmare began... So I began calling oral surgeons in my provider list only to find out that none of them took the adult medicaid dental. I then contacted my insurance by phone & email to go back and forth for weeks to find this was the ONLY place in Central Florida that took it. I called them and left msgs but never got a call, I finally went online to request an appt and someone called a few days later. I explained my situation and told them I had a referral and what needed to be done only to find out they were booked until July and the earliest I could get in was 7/13 at noon, being that this was my only choice, I took the appt. Now mind you this is March when I called to make the appt. So fast forward to July, I get a call to confirm my appt., yes I will be there especially after having to wait so long. I then asked if I needed to do anything special before the surgery, this is where she proceeds to tell me that this isnt where I am getting my teeth removed, but just a consultation! WHAT!!!!! Hold on a min, so your telling me I waited 4 months for a consultation????? Not only that I had my mom take a day off of work (and I was missing a day because its so far from me), they couldn't tell me this when I made the appt?? Why did I have to give her all the information from my dentist on what needed to be done? By this point my blood is bubbling because I'm furious, and there is nothing I can do. So Monday comes and I have a 12pm appt, knowing I'm a new patient I show up at 1130am to get all the paper work filled out. I walk in and the building its in is an older office building, its OK nothing great. They are at the end of the hall on the left on the 1st floor. So I get to the office and walk in only to know immediately we were going to be there for a while. Not only is it packed, they also have people standing (I assume this happens often, so u would think they could buy some more chairs, so people dont have to stand or sit on the coffee tables). For me this is always a bad indicator. So I check in and fill everything out, hand it back in about 11:45 and start my wait. At about 1:10 I go up to the front to ask how much longer since my appt was at 12, she proceeds to tell me that the Dr is in surgery and only sees consults in between so it will be about 30 more mins (so 1:40, an hour and 40 mins after my appt time). By this time I'm getting irritated and sit back down, they finally call me at 1:30 to go back. They then lead me to do an xray and ask them why do I need to do this when I have my xrays from my dentist (they also charged my ins for this which i called tonight to let them know to dispute since they did not do an xray)? He looks at it and sees that its recent (from feb) and says it will do and leads me to a room. I then wait here for 2 hrs, yes you read this right i waited another 2 hrs before the Dr came to see me, and yes I even took a nap while waiting. While waiting i also hear that there are 4 other consults waiting besides me and someone is waiting for surgery. Finally the Dr comes in at 3:30 and is there for about 2 mins. About 15 mins later the nurse comes back with a bill saying it will cost me an additional $1,600 on top of what my ins will pay.. SAY WHAT????? Are you out of your fricking mind??? Lets just say I finally got out at 4pm and ran as I left. This was possibly the worst service I have ever had in my entire life and will never go through this again! read more

Horrific. This place should be investigated by the Department of Health. I called and scheduled a cleaning. Did the X-rays, waited for the hygienist. The dentist comes in and I express some wishes to improve my smile. The dentist proceeds to tell me I need crowns in my teeth - doesn't explain what the procedure entails and shaves off my front teeth to put the crown impressions on. The crowns do not match my natural teeth at all and in order to be seen again they are asking that I buy a $300 toothbrush from them! Are they serious? $5,000 later I look worse than when I came in. And they never did the cleaning! This place is completely horrific and should be shut down. Do not go here! Any private practice is better than this Wal Mart of dentist practices. The first thing that is disgraceful is the very old rusty equipment and old useless technology. It is not reliable diagnostics. They will not answer questions about pricing. We went with a free coupon for x-rays. At my appointment they mad a mistake and did the wrong kind and charged me for it. I want to start this by saying that I have never ever had such a horrible experience at any other doctors office. I went to my local dentist and he told me I needed my wisdom teeth removed. The in house oral surgeon was booked until August so because I was in pain I looked around and came upon Coast dental. Leslie assured me and my fiancé that we can have same day treatment. After not eating for 8 hours(to prep for surgery) and taking time off of work , then waiting 2.5hours they tell me that they cannot do the surgery because I've eaten. I tell them no that I haven't and then they tell me the doctor has to put me under and she doesn't do that unless it's before 9a (Because anesthesia only works before 8am?) ,then one assistant says the doctor has to take her daughter somewhere at 1p and then another tells me her daughter is sick. Moral of the story is this place is an EPIC waste of time and they will treat your time like garbage. This is the worst dental office I've ever been to. First off they are the only ones that take my insurance in the whole of central FL. I made an appointment for three months out to have 2 wisdom teeth pulled. My appointment gets here and I have to drive an hour away just to get there and sit in the waiting room for 2 hours before I'm even taken into a room. Then I sit in the room for another hour and a half waiting for the dentist to examine me. Only for her to see me for maybe 4 minutes then tell me that my insurance covers the extraction but not the collagen for the whole or the bone. So I'd have to pay another $700 to get two damn teeth pulled. I told them I couldn't afford that and had to leave. The employees were all nice but the rooms and the whole office is dirty and unorganized. The room I was in had broken tools and busted up walls. They are just scamming people for money. read more

I came in for a extraction of my wisdom tooth. I was assured by my insurance as well as the referring dentist that this procedure would be covered. And the extractions were pre approved by insurance. However, the oral surgery refused to do the extractions unless I paid out of pocket for extra services such as bone graft and 4 collagen plugs which was an additional $1000 or so. I expressed that I didn't want that or need it I just wanted the extractions. She refused to do it unless I agreed to the extra work. I really felt like this was a way to swindle money out of patients on top of the the approved funds that the insurance is willing to pay. I declined bc I didn't have a extra thousand dollars to pay for those extra things. I am a young African American women that is 6 months pregnant and I felt totally taken advantage of. So I left that day with my same cracked wisdom tooth and a feeling of trying to me raped for cash by this oral surgeon. She showed no care, no empathy she wouldn't even come talk to me in person she sent in her assistant. She was only concerned with the additional funds. read more

My kids were stuck going a coast dental because they had medicaid!!! We go in there and they tell us that the "" free services can't be done until we pave her stuff that's not covered by medicaid miraculously!!! My husband and I told them do what's covered nothing more nothing less they did to veilings refused to do the rest until we did the non covered services. We left fast forward from 2016 to today, we're getting " quite a few calls from a collection agency saying we owe money because medicaid didn't cover services provided!!! I didn't want to write this. I've tried and tried to give this office a break and be patient. Sorry no more. Have any of you waited 3 months for an office to properly communicate with an insurance provider? This is three months since my daughters braces were installed and her oral surgery was supposed to take place 2 weeks later. Does your dentist return phone calls? That would be super nice! I wonder what that's like?! Do they tell you both to your face and over the phone they'll call you in a few hours and never call you back? If they do then you're probably going to Coast Dental, Lake Mary. I've had a pretty good experience with run of the mill cleanings. Medical staff seems pretty good. Hygienists have been very professional. It ends at that point. The office staff while friendly face to face has been either incompetent or inconsiderate. Given their track record in the field of oral surgery I wouldn't hire them to clean my dog's ears. I've dealt with a lot of companies that have stressed and overworked employees. None, without exception, have been as lacking in communication. I'd say that in all the ensuing weeks and all of my phone calls that I can count exactly 3 return phone calls. That makes it around a 7-8% likely hood that a customer will actually get them to DO THEIR JOB! Oh, and don't try calling the customer complaint line at the home office in Tampa. Will you get to leave a message....yes! Will you talk to a human.....no! Will they call you back...NO! Perhaps it's in the Coast Dental Mission Statement?! I can see it now, "Under no circumstances is the office staff of either a branch office or corporate headquarters to actually engage in what could be construed as 'customer service'". Maybe it's engraved in brass letters above the door to the training facility that all employees are required to attend? I could give names of the offending parties but these folks probably have families and bills to pay. To do so would be even more egregious than their lack of professional pride. If you want your teeth cleaned not a bad place. Anything else, run away, run far far away. Now I'm going to call our insurance company to get a referral. Worst place. Nothing but a lie factory for profits. Had x-rays done and they tried stating that I needed 4 crowns. Had one done because I knew I needed it, went to two separate dentists and they stated the other three were overkill. Paid $550 for the crown, and a week later said "insurance didn't cover the rest so you owe another $100." Called my insurance, the contracted rate is $500 for the procedure. Beware, this whole company is a scam. So glad I have better insurance so I can jump ship from them. read more
