    Recently visited the website and found a truck I wanted to purchase…read more Went to the dealer and found the truck i was interested in with the same sticker price as posted online and took if for a test drive. Was happy with the vehicle and decided to talk numbers. Once pen was put to paper the sticker price on the vehicle magically went up about 10%. when I questioned the change in price I was told they had forgotten to change the price of the vehicle after some recent upgrades. This seemed odd to me as this vehicle had sat for so long that the battery was dead. this meant that the sticker/online price had not been updated for an extended period of time. This left a bad taste in my mouth and I decided not to purchase the vehicle. The next day I checked on line to see if I was wrong about the price of the vehicle only to find that the price was still posted exactly the same as before. I sent a photo of the posted price on their website to the manager and said i would be willing to purchase the vehicle if they would honor their posted price. They would not honor their price as posted on line and/or the sticker Beware of the price you are assuming your going to get, they apparently change.

I called, they told me the only vehicle they could get us into was a Grand Caravan, which I did not want. We ignored calls trying to figure this out and discuss if this was the right decision. They called and let us know that we could no longer keep the vehicle that we currently had and the banks would not allow us to re-finance it. We had no choice to get the Van. We get the Van with promises that in 6 months time we would be able to trade into something we loved and wanted and that they would pay half of the payments until then. We then call them in 6 months time, they tell us that we would have to wait for another few months, no call or anything. I called back and they said that we didn't have good credit anymore, that we can no longer trade. I then call a dealership we've been with for years to look into this and he lets me know that we do have good credit but the trade was not a good idea. I am very disappointed that they didn't do this in our best interest and will not recommend them to anyone.

This was an extremely shady experience, even relative to the low expectations I have when talking to used car salespeople. We started off on a shady foot when I asked for the carfax report they claim to provide on all cars and they texted me the photo of a printout of an incomplete carfax report that was over a year old (the status of the report was "pending", if the report is complete the status will read "complete"). They salesman explained that the report was up to date because they'd had the car on the lot for a year and it hadn't been driven. That didn't explain why they wouldn't give me a complete report and, when I asked for an up to date and complete report, they told me they'd give me one when I bought the car and took delivery of it, which would defeat the purpose of looking at the carfax report before buying. It's also curious that they told me that the car had sat on the lot for a year without being driven because the car had 6000 km put on it since they bought the car and had it inspected at the dealership. If they'd told me that they were using it as a dealership loaner or one of the salesman was driving it, I wouldn't have objected to that, but saying that the car wasn't driven when you put 6000 km on it is a bald faced lie. 30 seconds into talking to a salesman, we have one obvious lie and multiple shady things (incomplete carfax report, unwillingness to run another one until after you buy the car). I won't bore you with what transpired during the rest of the discussion, but it was more of the same. Detectable lies mixed in with statements that would seem suspicious even when not surrounded by lies.

Harris failed to disclose the Kia was previously a rental car. I reported Harris Oceanside to the Vehicle Authority of British Columbia on July 7, 2025 after Harris and I were not able to arrive at an mutually agreeable resolution. On September 09, 2025 the VSA determined that Oceanside failed to declare that the Kia had previously been a rental car. The VSA ruling: Based on the VSA investigation, the information and evidence, I have determined the following regarding your complaint: The purchase agreement did not indicate that the vehicle had previously been a rental car - Substantiated: The evidence demonstrates that Oceanside failed to declare that the Kia had previously been a rental car on the Purchase Agreement. Any potential resolutions are between you and Oceanside as the VSA cannot compel a Motor Dealer to do anything or respond in one way or another with regards to a specific consumer transaction. If a resolution cannot be reached betwee you and Oceanside, you have the option of seeking legal advice or civil action. This is definitely the worse car buying experience I have ever had!

The mechanic admitted this and the person working at the service desk knew this as well. However they would not give me a credit for not doing the work. Now wondering if they even changed my oil?

    Made an appointment on Monday, told them I needed a wheel alignment and two front tires, I had…read morepreviously bought tires there and they were familiar with my car. I was to bring my car in Wednesday as early as possible. So after giving them two days notice, they didn't have the tires on hand, and after paying $170 for a "inspection" was told that I needed an alignment, and new tires, and a back tire only had 5 psi... Strangely they assumed that I would leave my car in the parking lot until the next morning. (unlocked, as I discovered) but needing transportation, I left. After driving a few minutes, I checked my tire pressure and found it still had 5 psi. So I called them and asked if they put air in the tire and the response was no because we thought you were going to replace them. (but they didn't have them, even though they had two days notice to get at least two)... returned the next morning. I asked the owner as he arrived to work Thursday morning if it was reasonable to be without transportation for 30+ hours for a couple of tires and a wheel alignment? He replied that it wasn't uncommon! I don't think that is a reasonable standard for any shop! NEWPORT AUTO "home of the 36 hour alignment" I have since found out they often overcharge and under deliver. take your car elsewhere, don't fall victim to this greedy gouge master

Nothing but misleading communication and lies from these guys. Paid $1000 to DIAGNOSE a misfire, which should be a couple hours of work tops. They bill extra hours and don't do the work that they say they will. Wanted to charge an extra 1.5 hours of labor to put my car back together on top of the 8 hours of labor they billed for a simple diagnosis. That simple diagnosis got completed at another shop in 3 hours and i didn't have to wait around for 2 weeks before they touched my car. They also yanked fuses from my car for no reason and left them hidden in the interior (a sick joke for the less mechanically inclined!?) No response from them when i asked why they even opened my fuse box. A shame to the squamish community that we have shady shops like this in operation. Save yourself the headache, keep some cash in your pockets and get your car running quicker by bringing it ANYWHERE other then Newport Auto
