I have two shih tzus and, knowing how much skill their coats require, I made multiple attempts to call ahead and confirm that this groomer was equipped to handle long-haired breeds. It was difficult to get anyone on the phone, but when I finally spoke to the owner, I was assured that they could manage the job. I explicitly requested a simple trim: faces, ears, and feet Had the owner herself groomed my dogs, perhaps this review wouldn't be necessary. Unfortunately, someone else did -- and the results were beyond unacceptable. I picked them up between work appointments and was in a rush, so I didn't examine them closely until I got in the car. I was stunned. Both of my dogs had bald patches on their faces where there had previously been full coats. Their appearance was so jarring. This was not a minor miscommunication or a matter of preference -- this was a clear lack of skill and care. If you have a long-haired breed and value their grooming look elsewhere. This place is not equipped to handle the job, no matter what they tell you on the phone.

(Most businesses do their best to work with the customer, not place blame on the customer.) He is very poorly skilled with dogs like mine (cockapoos with zero matting), and doesn't take responsibility. He flips it to fit his agenda. I just asked for SOME of the fee back , as I did not get what I asked for. He was rude and unreasonable when I addressed this. My matt free dogs looked better before the 7 hour "grooming". I should have taken into account the Google review describing a customers dog leaving Ken's Grooming Post with cuts, scars and bleeding from his skin. According to that review , responsibility wasn't taken in that situation either - the customer was blamed, as I was. (I thought I'd give him a chance- silly me.) Wishing Ken all the best in educating himself for future grooming and better skills with hopefully being kinder in communicating with unhappy clients. It's not always the clients fault. The "professional" can make mistakes, and own them.

There is a yard for dog-friendly dogs and separate yard for dog-unfriendly dogs (who need more solo…read moreattention). They'll let the playful dogs run around all together in one yard. And they stay in the house with the family. The owner does let you know that if multiple fights break out due to your dog they will have to move the dog to another space on their property with a large kennel room type thing. They will definitely tell you if there are any incidents and are incredible about updating you by text and photo. We received almost daily updates. If you have a dog that needs to have solo time/tends to fight with other dogs/doesn't get along with others they also have a separate fenced area for them. This is in a separate little building right next to the house. They get indoor and outdoor time. This way everyone's furry family member can be safe and also get some run time in. I wasn't looking for anything fancy like those kennels with "spa times". I was looking for something affordable, safe, and fun for my dog. This seemed like a good fit and my dog had a blast. She slept for about a week and a half after I brought her home from her two week stay. They are great at managing all types of dog personalities and are transparent about the facilities. Take a tour of the space before hand. That's what I did and it worked out great.

Since I am a crazy dog mom I even asked if I could call the next day to check on them and they said "of course". This week we went with a newly adopted dog so we could get her microchipped and have her Rabies vaccine done. For some reason, even though the first shelter the dog was in had "spayed female" on the paperwork, the lack of a spay date made the person signing in our dog suspect that she was not spayed. Do yourself a big favor and bring in spay documents if you have them. If you look at our dog's abdomen, there is a spay scar. We had to have bloodwork done to the tune of $40 because they did not want to give her a rabies vaccine because there was no date of a heartworm test on the shelter paperwork either. The shelter had the dog on heart-worm preventative and flea and tick meds. We needed a form filled out so we could apply for a Lifetime PA dog license since she was now microchipped. This was a $15 fee but it saved us gas and a trip to our vet which I guess is fair but it literally took two minutes to fill out. I did end up paying close to $300 for everything. Finally, I had to wait several minutes to get the rabies certificate filled out. During that time I noticed a board with rebate information. I was surprised that the clerk who we paid made absolutely no mention of the rebate I could request for the flea and tick meds we purchased. What surprised me even more is that when I went on line to do the rebate, T.A.R.A. was not on the list of participating veterinarians who sell the product. I had to add them on manually. All this being said, the veterinarian and the tech who took care of our dog was very nice.

We were super nervous since it was his first cut -- we didn't know how he would handle it. Paws on Main put us at ease and really did a great job. He was comfortable in the environment and all went well. We gave specific instructions to the groomer and she gave us exactly the cut we were looking for! We are so happy with the care they provided and the beautiful cut he received! We will definitely be back!

They listen to what you ask for and they take a reasonable amount of time to groom (2-2.5 hours). My only complaint is it's expensive for dogs who need regular grooming like doodles.

We've got a 9 month old pup who was overdue for some grooming. His hair was matting and he would…read morenot let me groom him for more than a minute at a time. He's a bit of a cry baby. Stephanie came with her van, and groomed both my Mother-in-law's dog and then our overly dramatic pup. Both dogs came out great. Due to the matting, she couldn't do the groom-standard cut (not a big deal to me) but he wound up looking great anyway. She called us half way through to make sure we were ok with his howling and even called us again that night to make sure he was ok, which was very nice. We will be using her again.
