My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. The place is a little bit on the rustic side. I am told that the resort has been in operation since somewhere in the 70s and I don't think they've made significant changes. The cabins are serviceable. They were clean and they stayed warm. There was an eclectic mix of household utensils that fit the bill, but seemed the kind of assortment you'd accrue from guests showing up, buying their own supplies, and then deciding to leave them behind. Amenities such as soap, shampoo, and trash bags are not provided, so make sure to stock up for your stay. The staff was friendly, and willing to drive a fair distance at midnight when we got locked out of our cabin. The landscape is absolutely lovely. The lake looks pretty murky, but it was comfortable to swim in, even in September. The wine tasting was lovely -- it is an additional surcharge, but it seemed a reasonable one -- and is paired with a tasting of their flavored vinegars.
Overall, I was very happy with them, but it's not really an all-services-provided kind of place. It's renting a cabin in the middle of the Ozarks. It's not quite roughing it, but it's also not really a resort in the sense of all of your needs being taken care of. You'll have to do some work on your own. read more
