The staff were very welcoming and we found a number of real ales on, although I don't recall seeing any craft beers. There's an outside courtyard and apparently a large room at the back with a stage where they host live music. The walls are decorated with various old paintings, and there's a fire place in one part of the pub. It's easily a place where I could see whiling away an afternoon or evening in a very traditional setting! They weren't serving food when we were there which was a little surprising given it was a Saturday evening, but someone said they were doing food at lunchtime. Although, with a food hygiene rating of 2 out of 5 according to the Scores on the Doors website you may not want to eat here anyway. Hopefully I will make it back at some point to enjoy the pub some more! Possibly skipping the food though...

Service began slowly as we waited 10 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation, but our waitress ended up being the redeeming factor of the night, despite the proposterously long wait in between visits. When I ordered for a medium-well steak and was presented with one so raw it was still mooing, they gave me an entirely new plate free of charge. Some redeeming qualities in that the food was of high standard, but did not feel as though it justified the high prices. The restaurant could quite clearly not keep up with demand. 3 stars.
