I made my first Charismatic Creations purchase a few months after the pandemic began and bought a cocktail making kit to make cocktails for the Jill Scott vs Erykah Badu Verzuz battle. I also purchased a couple other infusions/mixers with that order. I got that order shipped to me and despite all the craziness with USPS at the time, my order arrived quickly. Fast forward to today and the owner now has her own warehouse where she now sells her products and hosts pop ups for other small businesses as well. It's so dope! Since my birthday is in April and she created some special cocktails celebrating some April-born Queens, Selena and Billie Holiday, I KNEW I needed those drinks in my possession. The Selena drink was tequila-based and the Billie Holiday drink was gin-based. If you follow Charismatic Creations on social media, you know the owner's favorite spirit is gin which on the other hand, is not mine. However, I kept an open mind and I absolutely loved that Billie Holiday drink. Both drinks were delicious and she provided lavender rose sugar to rim my cocktail glass with. I love that this business uses fresh local ingredients in their products. This is another great black woman-owned business that I really encourage you to try and definitely follow on social media for some drink recipes and to see some beautiful drinks. You can definitely tell that the owner is passionate about what she does. I can't wait for things to get back to "normal" so I can attend one of the cocktail making classes. I believe she offers them virtually right now but I've been wanting to attend in-person since before the pandemic hit. Instead, we were repeatedly approached about reserving a table in the glass house with a $600 minimum spend. We declined because we simply wanted to enjoy wine like we have at many other wineries. One of the most surprising things was their policy requiring reservations for groups of eight or more. In my opinion, that's unusual for a winery. I've visited many wineries throughout Maryland and Virginia, and I've never encountered a policy like this. As soon as our group reached eight people, it felt like staff were watching us constantly. We couldn't even socialize with other guests without being approached by staff, who questioned whether we knew them and repeatedly reminded us that our group had reached the limit of eight people. We felt singled out and closely monitored throughout our visit. The constant attention made what should have been a relaxing afternoon feel stressful and uncomfortable, so our group made the decision to leave. To make matters worse, after we left I received an email from the owner accusing me of disrupting operations, harming their business, violating their policies, and demanding that I remove references to the winery from my event listing. I strongly disagree with those accusations and found the tone of the email to be unnecessarily hostile, especially since our group chose to leave rather than continue our visit. In my opinion, this establishment feels much more like a lounge or private event venue than a traditional winery. If you're looking for the welcoming, laid-back experience that most wineries provide, I would recommend visiting one of the many other wineries in the area instead.

While the event space itself is beautiful, my experience with the staff and catering was extremely disappointing. From start to finish, the event staff were unprofessional and rude to my guests. Several guests were told they could only have one plate despite us paying for an open buffet, which caused embarrassment. One catering staff member even pushed my mother and maintained a negative attitude throughout the event. I also became ill after eating the turkey meatballs we ordered. I do not eat beef, yet the food appeared to contain beef, causing severe stomach discomfort for me. Interestingly, my guests did not have any issues, which suggests there may have been a mistake in the preparation. I brought these concerns to the attention of the event coordinator, who I believe is the owner, Carla, but the staff's behavior was excused rather than addressed. Unfortunately, despite the beautiful space, I cannot recommend Grace Event Center due to the unprofessionalism of the staff and catering issues. I would suggest considering other venues to avoid a similar experience.

Far exceeded my expectations and my CFO and President enjoyed it so much, they requested them again this November! Thankfully we are able to have an event with Covid, but knowing I only have to go to one vendor and source helps with having too many hands in the event preparation! SO...I'm going to start by speaking positive. This young man has the POTENTIAL to have a great…read morebusiness going. I did not know him before, I got his information on yelp. I asked him to help me cater a BBQ for 50+ people. 1.) He provided me with an initial tasting. 2.) He offered to roll the costs of tables, chairs, and chaffing dishes into his fee, which was very convenient for me! He even offered to come the day before to help setup. 3.) I asked for a second tasting to fine tune the menu Items I was having for the BBQ he stated that he would cook the chicken on site the day of... I explained to him that BBQing chicken on the grill takes SKILL and that I prefer the chicken be baked, or parboiled and then placed on the grill. He assured me that wasn't necessary. Here's what I asked for, and what I got: I ASKED FOR: I told him that I did NOT want chicken or any meat in my pasta salad and wanted it to be a veggie pasta salad. I also requested that the HUGE pieces of cheese that he put in the pasta salad either be left out or cut smaller or replaced with a less dry cheese WHAT I GOT A "Veggie Pasta Salad" with chicken and HUGE pieces of cheese...after my vegetarian friends found meat in the pasta. I ASKED FOR: General Tso Wings and Medium Spicy Jerk Wings WHAT I GOT: Wings that looked the exactly the same and were under cooked and had to be put back on the grill and into the oven the next day. (RAW WINGS ON THE GRILL MEANS UNDER COOKED INSIDE AND OVERCOOKED OUTSIDE. I ASKED FOR: Nice hamburgers...I SPECIFICALLY SAID I did not want the cheap thin hamburgers WHAT I GOT: A big pile of cheap thin flying disk hamburgers that were dry. The deviled eggs were completely doused in paprika and were not served to the guests and remained in the fridge until someone asked about them...the same for the fruit salad that looks like it prepared days in advance and not fresh. After the food was setup we were spinning around digging through the dishwasher looking for serving utensils because the caterer that I paid 4 figures to did not bring serving utensils. THE MAIN ISSUE HERE I am a small business owner myself...I called Mr. Chase and asked to meet with him to talk about how the event went. I texted him not less than SIX TIMES and each time he would give me a date and then either not respond or came up with a reason not to meet. I am assuming this is because he is aware that the event did not go to plan. He has avoided speaking with me (see photos) and THAT is the sign of bad business practices. I even had a church that wished to hire him and still never responded. A business like this survives off of word of mouth and referrals. I was hoping that general feedback and a conversation would provide some encouragement and opportunity for growth. This is apparently something that Mr. Chase is not interested in. My suggestion: PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
