Ok, let's start by talking about those margaritas. Lime or raspberry. Both were excellent, even though it was a pre made mix. There were 5 in our party so they made the 4 party table into 5 with no issue. Service was lovely. Owner made a point of making sure everything was good. We started with the calamari. So tender. Loved it. Then 2 of us had the chicken parm. Huge. Took half home for lunch the next day. Chicken was tender with a light tomato sauce and a side of spaghetti. Rest of the table ordered the ribs. Cocoa Pesto and the Woodshire Inn is nothing less than absolute perfection. We chose to go to dinner at cocoa pesto for Valentine's Day. We were greeted with constant smiles and an abundance of love - which is rare to find these days. We had dinner at 5 and unfortunately there were small children at the table behind us who were not overly quiet. We asked to move tables and even in the heat of Valentine's Day - they made it happen. Their menu is another thing that was impressive. They have a three course dinner for less than 30$ and everything is over the top and delicious. There is definitely something for everyone. We started with a tomato basil soup and the salmon for our appetizers. The soup was creamy, flavourful and perfectly seasoned. The salmon was packed with flavour as well, and came with little crackers and a dollop of seasoned cream. We then ordered the butter chicken and the Neptune penne. The butter chicken was delicious. The sauce was creamy and probably the best butter chicken I have experienced. I was surprised with the Indian flavours that bursted out of each bite. The Neptune penne was great as well. They did not skimp on the shrimp or the salmon in this dish! For dessert we got the pecan chocolate torte and the key lime pie. Both were extraordinary and by this time we were full! On Valentine's Day .. or any holiday, you usually cut restaurants a little slack on cleaning because you understand the difficulty of dealing with hundreds of clients who have their own personalities and likes and dislikes but cocoa pesto was absolutely pristine in every sense of the word. The tables were clean, the floors were spotless. Everything was perfect. Our waitress went above and beyond. Another treat was that the owners, Scott and Marilyn were so invested in the process! Scott, I'm sure, is one of the most passionate owners and chefs that I've had the pleasure of meeting. Marilyn, was such a delight. Constantly running the front of the house flawlessly with such a genuine smile. We headed up to our rooms and we're told we could come down for drinks and food as many times as we wanted - despite their busy night. They made sure that we were well taken care of. The woodshire has 2 rooms available. The king sized bed was phenomenal, and the soaker tub was everything in my life that I didn't know I needed. I felt like a princess! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and inn to anyone and everyone. They accommodate couples, groups and families so well. I felt like part of their family! Made a reservation for 7 pm. Arrived at 650 Orders were taken for a three course meal Received appetizers promptly Then 35 minute wait for main dish. Did not complain as food was very good. Then waited 15 minutes after main plates were picked up for dessert that was given to us in "to go" containers. (We didn't ask for it to go) took it home to eat. Horrible service. read more

Had an interesting experience. My partner wanted to order their breakfast pizza, but the scrambled eggs had milk. We kindly asked if they would make the eggs without milk, and they were not willing to accommodate (they would not be "happy" with the finished product). He had to order an entirely different meal. Went with a hamburger, which was very tasty but the fries were over cooked (too crispy) and went back untouched. I ordered my meal (a chicken meal with mushrooms in a wine sauce) and was served butter chicken. Had to wait for my meal to be redone, and no offer of a discount was given. Although the food was good, we waited a long time for food, and I can't say I would be going back as we did not feel as though our business was actually valued. read more

Great return to the form of the old Cocoa Pesto. The brunch has an excellent choice of dishes that highlight pea meal bacon and home made beans. They offer a nice selection of maritime craft beer as well. Must come back to try their ribs. read more

I have heard about their ribs and so stopped in for lunch there today. Tried them, the apple smoked sweet ribs were $24.95, small rack placed over home cut fries, lots of sauce on ribs, but the ribs were tough, hard to chew and swallow. I managed to keep going thinking it was only the edge, but it was the same from end to end. Good taste on the sauce, but it must have been a bad day for ribs, I would not recommend them. We had eaten at Cocoa Pesto a few times before and always enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. This time we booked rooms upstairs at The Woodshire Inn with another couple that are friends of ours. From the minute we arrived we were treated like special guests and offered whatever we needed to make our stay more enjoyable. Of course we had a wonderful 3 course meal at the Cocoa Pesto with impeccable service. Everything is made from scratch including all the desserts. It was a perfect evening! The rooms are very comfy and modern and no need to cab to a restaurant with the dining room right at the bottom of the stairs! Fast forward to breakfast, they asked us what time they should be ready for us. When we arrived for breakfast, both owners Scott and Marilyn waited on us constantly checking in to gather feedback and see what we may need. Marilyn asked what we liked and didn't like and Scott proceeded to cook up a surprise feast that included an awesome frittata, homemade biscuits and fresh strawberries! We have always had a good meal here. We have found that their specials are usually the best quality and value so if a special menu is offered you won't go wrong ordering something from it. A few times regular menu items have been a bit inconsistent in quality so we tend to go when a special menu is on. Prices are mid to high range but you don't mind paying for a good meal. Always enjoy going here. Normally lots of parking and staff are really nice. read more

At brunch the artichoke and pesto omelette and the home fries - really amazing baby red potatoes - were the best I've ever eaten. Today being Mother's Day we had made reservations for their brunch. Our reservation was for 7 people at 3pm. We arrived about 10 minutes before our selected time and were shown to our table. Three on each side and one one an end. Problem was everyone had to get up to make room for a person to get out. There was another group of 6 people at another table in the same room. The room was 10 ft x 10 ft so pretty packed in. We sat down and the waitress came and we were asked if we wanting drinks. We settled on the water. Ok! Lets go get some salad. A poor excuse for salad it was. Some sort of Kale I think, some sort of Chick pea bean salad and then a salad of peppers, corn etc. Not a great choice. Now for the Main Course. Meat Loaf, Chicken thighs, some sort of burnt cut up roasted potatoes, dried up white rice, a ground pork mixture, string beans. Then there was a battered fish which was edible. Then when we went to get desert, they had roast beef in a pot which looked like pot roast and they had scalloped potatoes. Dessert consisted of three types of cake. All three I doubt were made from scratch. They were frozen cakes I believe and thawed. However the fresh raspberries and blackberries were good. The tea biscuits were good and the tea at the end was good. The bill was expensive for five people and doubt we will drive there to experience it next year. Cocoa Pesto did the catering for my recent wedding and I cannot rave enough about the food!! I had guests coming up to me all evening and texting me for days following saying how awesome the food was. From the very onset of hiring Cocoa Pesto, Scott Geddes, the chef/co-owner was very accommodating of my dietary restrictions and those of my guests. I myself have a wheat allergy and requested a mostly gluten-free menu and on top of that we had many guests with dairy intolerances, vegetarians and a bunch with seafood allergies. This didn't once phase Scott and he promised that he would be able to create a menu that suited all these restrictions but without compromising on the taste. The man did not lie!! Everything was delicious and the maple glazed salmon that I had specifically requested was the best I have ever had!! He even showed up with an extra vegetarian noodle dish we had not discussed prior, free of charge! For our late night snack, he suggested a Nacho bar which would allow guests to build their own to their personal tastes and dietary needs. It was a total hit!!! If you are looking for a caterer that will take the time to listen to what you want, is personable and fantastic to deal with, very fair with pricing and then goes above and beyond on delivery, look no further than Cocoa Pesto!! I cannot thank them enough for the level of service and quality of food they provided that made my wedding that much more memorable and enjoyable for me, my husband and our guests!
