I've had dinner here the last 2 visits to Windsor. I think the foods great. Especially the fish chowder. Heavy cream, potatoes, fish. What's not to like? Flavour was crazy good. I ordered the cup (which was a small bowl). That's plenty if you're ordering a meal. Also had the chicken quesadilla. Filled with lots of veggies and tender chopped chicken. Loved it. Hubby had the fish and chips. You seriously only need one piece of fish. It's huge. Fries are pretty good. Another friend ordered the nachos. Nothing special. That said, I did eat half of them. You put melted cheese on just about anything and I'm all over it. Service was as seriously chipper. Love that. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the tired interior. Can use a fresh coat. I'm sure I'll be back during my next visit. read more

We stopped for a late dinner and were expecting a bar food quality (which is usually bad in USA). I started with some fresh oyster and they were delicious especially those from Eel lake... I had after the Ribeye steak and my friend had fish and chips. The steak was absolutely delicious and tasty, well cooked medium rare as I wanted.. the fish was so fresh and very flavorful! Whenever we're on our way home from Clare, we usually stop in Windsor for a bite to eat. We've been to this place a few times, most recently a few weeks ago. Service was prompt and friendly! My boyfriend and I both had the pulled pork sandwich and we both really enjoyed it. I got the Cajun seasoned fries and he got the cinnamon sugar dusted sweet potato fries, which came with caramel and whipped cream! It was different but really good! read more

Love this place the staff are warm and friendly, the food is wonderful with lots of choices. There is entertainment weekends . The owners are often dropping by to have a meal or a snack , they are amazing people. This is the place we like to take folks to for an outing and it's always a hit . Oh my goodness. I've found my new weekend local. The Spitfire Arms is a lovely British-themed pub in downtown Windsor. It has wall-to-wall war history and artifacts, as well as a lovely outdoor patio. The food is the best kind of pub food - consistently well prepared, large portions, well-executed, piping hot and tasty, tasty, tasty. Great selection of options for vegetarians. Some of my favourites are the black bean and corn veggie burger, the mediteranean grilled cheese sandwich (it's loaded with veg!), seasonal squash soup, the mac and cheese and breaded pickles. Now I'm hungry again..... Make it a day out! Windsor is juat about the sweetest little town in Nova Scotia with lots of country shops, farm fresh treats and artists. read more

We were there coming back from Grand-Pré, stopped at the Spitfire just because we were hungry and didn't want to wait until Halifax... Didn't know the place...we were both amazed how good the food was ! Warm welcome, we had the fresh oysters as an apetizer. But then, those mussels with the curry sauce, just to die for !!! Having a really bad day, decided to stop by the Spitfire pub for a beer and something to eat. So glad that we did. The wait staff, the atmosphere, the beer on tap, and the food is excellent. We were in the area going to Falls Lake for the weekend so we stopped here. Cool pub atmosphere for sure. Servers were friendly enough. A few of the guys liked their meals quite a bit, one being a quiche of some sort I believe. I, however, got the Squash Risotto. I take the blame for ordering a risotto in a pub, but I was looking forward to it. It was bland. It lacked the creaminess of a good risotto. Almost like they skimped or didn't use a good amount of butter and Parmesean at the end. It also lacked basic seasoning of salt and pepper. read more

We had frequented this place often over the years, but recently stopped in on our travels through the valley. The food took a bit long to come to us, the fish and chips were extremely greasy, not much taste and not much for fries to compensate the bad fish. The pulled pork was the best thing about our visit. Our table was terribly wobbly, the waitress tried to fix it, but failed, we let it go and was very careful not to move the table so not to spill our drinks, the staff lacked personality and we spent a long time waiting for service, and for our bill. The atmosphere has changed, it's not like it used to be with music and great food. It's loosing it happy feel, I hope they can revive it after the renovations etc. Windsor needs solid reliable places to eat. Stopped in here after a long day of yard sale hunting. We ended up all the way in Windsor and was smack in the middle of their river days celebration. We started off with an order of crab dip. The dip was excellent however the chips were a little too light and more pie crust tasting then tortilla. The waitress explained it was because of the humidity and nicely took care of half of the charge for the app. My wife does not care for seafood and still enjoyed the dip. For the main course I had ordered the smoked salmon clubhouse and my wife had ordered the London's Burning Burger. Both were delicious. Homemade pub fries and the food is what to expect from a good pub. Lots of beers on tap. Waitress was very helpful and kind. Was hoping for a few more curry dishes on the menu being a British style pub, but oh well. Place was clean and modern. read more

Was never a big fan of this establishment but decided to give it a go for a family dining night. The menu has been expanded to include more options than before. I used to have one item on the menu, the Big Ben burger, that I liked but now I will have to return to try some of the newer options. Spent a wonderful warm sunny afternoon on the patio here. It was friendly, busy, the view was spectacular, the sweet potato fries were perfect and the beer was cold and tasty. Will definitely go back. The inside is a little over-the-top British pub for me, right down to the caged Triumph motorcycle, but the patio is delightful. That motorcycle, by the way, is like a perfectly healthy older person trapped in a nursing home. It languishes for the feel of the open road under its tires (or should I say, tyres). Its life purpose has been thwarted by being trapped under glass. I've never fathomed the appeal of decorating with actual vehicles (hello, Engine Room/Lincoln Pub, Truro, I'm talking to you here too). Anyhoo. Went here the other day for lunch, it's been a while. Wasn't good then, isn't good now. Two people lunch and two drinks was over a hundred bux with the tip. The fish was heavily battered and the batter was still wet in the middle. It was very gross and bland, you could tell it was frozen fish. I feel like there is no excuse for frozen fish in Nova Scotia! We are on the ocean. There were three guys at the bar pounding back drinks at noon, I think one of them was an owner or manager, and they kept staring holes through my girlfriend. It was uncomfortable. I had to switch my chair because it was broken probably from the regular Saturday night drunken bar brawl. Not really a good family spot. Def not a good date spot. read more

This may have been a bad day but we had brunch here. My husband ordered poached eggs medium and specifically said to make sure the yolks were runny but the whites were not. Waitress even repeated, "medium." They were way overdone to the point of being rubbery and the yolks were hard. I ordered the big breakfast with a salad instead of home fries and specifically asked if there was any pepper on any of it. She said no and I told her I was VERY allergic to pepper. When I ate some, there was definitely pepper on something because I spent about 5 minutes in the bathroom being violently ill. An allergy is a serious thing! read more

Rude servers, terrible business. My visit was cut short when our waitress, "M" was extremely rude and did everything except tell us to leave the restaurant. I don't ever plan on stepping on the same sidewalk as this business, let alone go inside. When I wrote to the business to complain, received no response back. The food here was quite good. I didn't know what to expect from a small town and I was quite happy. Had the flatbread bruschetta and roast beef dinner. We asked for medium it was more well done but for $16.99 for 10oz of roast beef including all the sides even Yorkshire pudding, it was fantastic. I left feeling happy and full. read more

Overall a 4 outta 5. Food: pluses and minuses. i usually don't order a Burger in Nova Scotia - but ordered one here. Provincial law dictates that they have to be well done, as a result Spitfire's burger is hard and dry as a piece of coal, not unlike many I've had in this province. On the other hand, curry is excellent, especially when you add some chicken and put it over the awesome fries. Other menu items are also solid, but don't forget, in the end this is pub food. Albeit good pub food. Beer: A bit disappointed in the beer list. Where's the good stuff from my native province? Why have three types of lousy adjunct logger from the USA, mediocre old English brands that nobody drinks. Where is the Unfiltered? Good Robot? Big Spruce? Bad Apple? There should be more Schoolhouse. Somebody who truly loves beer needs to curate this tap list. Venue: best part of the package. We dump 12 bikers on them on a Saturday around 2 pm. Service was friendly and accurate. Everyone thought there meal was great. I had the 2 piece fish and chips, fries were home cut but a little soggy, but the fish on the other hand was excellent. Super recipe, I hope they don't change it. All and all recommended. read more

Probably not the worst place to eat in Windsor but there are much better places on the same street. They only carry one cut of steak and it's more like a thick slice of beef. Not worth it. Their fishcakes were also not good as they were so small and overcooked.The evening we went it was really crowded, very noisy and there was an obnoxious drunk at the bar that kept being served drinks! Around 5pm, but apparently it was ok because, as our server informed us, he was a "local character". Umm, the place was full of families with young children so, no, not ok. Plus, all the people standing just outside the door smoking and the lack of available parking really turned us off. Food is just barely ok and nothing special for the money they charge. Lisa's across the street and the little Italian place next door will give you a much better meal for the money in downtown Windsor. This place won't be getting anymore of our hard-earned dollars. read more
