Kong Lung has several stores including Tugu's Balinese sarongs and upscale Hawaiian wear. It is well known for the bakery which wafts scents throughout the center. The hand painted sarongs line one wall but the bed has Balinese batik silk sarongs in short and long styles that are incredible. I bought three and a sterling silver clasp. I loved all of them passionately so it was hard to choose. Silk scarves never wear out and neither will these. I bought several others as gifts to mail to relatives and friends. The shirts, blouses, bedding and gifts are definitely upscale. The shop is a regular trek for designers. While reasonable the designs are often one of a kind, so don't expect ABC price points. We live in California with a pool so buying quality makes a huge difference since we actually wear Hawaiian clothing. They are building a web site so online shopping is coming. read more

Kong Lung shopping center has to be one of the coolest places on Kaua'i to pick up a nice souvenir of your trip (meaning they sell upscale stuff instead of airbrushed t-shirts with palm trees, or plastic hula girl magnets). And Coconut Style & Tugu has to be one of the coolest places in Kong Lung. We happened upon Coconut Style one afternoon while shopping Kong Lung. As soon as I spied the racks and stacks of hand-painted sarongs, I was in the door. I was tired of wearing lacrosse shorts and tank tops at the beach! I wanted something glamorous and beautiful to cover up my suit! Coconut Style to the rescue. Amid scads of hand-dyed and hand-painted shirts, as well as scads of hand-dyed and hand-painted sarongs, alongside papasan chairs and futons, I found exactly what my beach wardrobe had been crying out for: a long, flowy, white sarong, with crimson lotus flowers and vibrant green leaves painted on it. It spoke to me from across the store, and I knew it was mine as soon as I pulled it off its hanger. I absolutely love it: I wear it to the pool, to the beach, even out and about over my bathing suit when I'm in one of those anything-goes resort places. It's still vivid and beautiful, three years after I bought it. Also, it's signed and dated, like a real work of art. And I consider it one. I am completely enchanted by Coconut Style -- each piece is a one-of-a-kind and, for real works of art, the prices are incredibly affordable. The sales staff is low-key and low-pressure, and knowledgeable about the pieces. We bought several more as gifts, and each was very well-received. Purchased one of the most beautiful duvet covers here that I've ever owned with a price to match. Since the queen duvet cover was around $750, I was hoping it would be perfect on our bed. Two issues, which could easily be resolved by the manufacturer, made it less than perfect. The first is that there were no internal ties inside the duvet cover to hold comforter in place so our comforter falls to one side or the other or scrunches at the bottom of the duvet so we constantly have to try to reposition it inside the duvet. If this wonderful shop were to add internal corner ties, their duvet covers would be much improved. The second problem is that the 91 inch width on the queen duvet is 5 inches too short for most of the nicer comforters that I was able to buy on the mainland (California). The duvet cover also BARELY hangs off the sides of our queen bed far enough to cover the mattress (just reaches the top of the mattress frame on both sides if we position it just right). An additional 5 inches on the duvet width would solve the problem. We do have a pillowtop mattress so, if you had no pillow top or mattress topper, the existing 91 inch width might work for you. read more

We wandered into this shop on a rainy day. I ended up purchasing a beautiful silk wrap for me and a not too loud Hawaiian shirt for my husband (stealth Hawaiian according to the owner ;). He was friendly and explained how he created many of the beautiful designs and items showcased in the store. They carry duvets, clothing and accessories in vibrant island prints. I had to return the next day to get another wrap as a gift and a kimono style robe for myself! I am so happy to be bringing home these beautiful handmade pieces. What an amazing business! First off the store worker greeted us which was not a usual in my experience on the island. However, they have awesome light wear with impressive hand made patterns! The pants I had to have. Only problem is I was driving from the south side and was going to be there by 6pm and they close at 530pm. To my surprise they stayed open and managed to open AFTER HOURS AND I PURCHASED MY DREAM PANTS!!!! Could not ask for better customer service. The owner himself sold me these pants! I cannot say enough about the beauty of these duvets. We bought one years ago and when we returned to Kauai we knew we wanted another. Debbie suggested a pattern that was on a shirt. It was stunning so we special ordered it. Originally we though we would receive it in in 6-8 weeks. It took almost 12 but was well worth the wait. Customer service here is amazing. I was a bit annoying calling Debbie for updates. She was always courteous and helpful. Highly recommend shopping here and truly wish they sold items online! read more

On our recent trip to Kauai I wandered into Coconut Style while my husband was having coffee in the courtyard. I fell in love with a silk sarong, but somehow didn't allow myself to get is with the idea that where would I ever wear it again. But it nagged at me. Then on our last day we were back there with friends and I tried it on again. That did it. So now I can't wait until I return to the tropics as it will be a staple in my wardrobe. Our friend found a very nice shirt there as well. There was no sales pressure, just a pleasant place in which to see beautiful silk pieces...kind of like a silk museum as it is laid out so beautifully. And they teach you various ways to tie them. In the spring of 2014, while eating at a bakery near by -- my family and I discovered Coconut Style and ended up with 4 tops and two pairs of lounging pants. The prints are gorgeous and the styles are elegant but casual, and oh so flattering! Both men and women will enjoy this shop! After a visit to Kilauea, my boyfriend fell deeply in love with Coconut Style! He wears the pants he bought there about 4 times a week (thank god our weather in California allows it!) and they're still in perfect condition! This December I wanted to surprise him with another wonderful piece from Coconut Style, and through their website found just the perfect shirt! Unfortunately, the website said the shirt was out of stock, but being determined, I called the store directly! I don't think I've ever been so amazed with the kindness and amazing service of any retailer ANYWHERE! Not only did the owner of the store check all throughout his stock, but he found the last shirt of that style, and sent it to me the same day!
