My family and I went for a dinner in Chilliwack on November 29th. We found the place looking shabby and outdated with not so fancy looking interior. Google had positive reviews so we had to go. We ordered combination of 4 which consists of 8 spring rolls, red curry, shrimp pad thai, chicken cashew nuts, pad pak ruam with steam rice($68.99) and D18 tom yum soup ($11.99). Everything was very flavourful. Pad Thai tasted sweet, but it was delicious. We liked all the dishes. Tom Yum soup was very yummy. Portion was just right for 4 of us. We all felt full. Customers kept coming in so that I didn't see any empty tables left. This restaurant seemed to be doing well. Highly recommend this place for authentic Thai food! read more

We had to pit stop in Chiliwack so decided to stop for lunch at Coconut Thai Restaurant. It's a few doors down to Sardis Health Foods. We dropped in on a Saturday (12:30pm). The inside is dated with large, vintage booths. Service was slow - seems they prioritize takeout orders. The menu is large but we stuck with the lunch combos (10:30am to 3:30pm). We asked for medium spicy (closer to mild). - Red curry (L1) ($13.45) - rice scoop was small. Spring roll was thick, had only cabbage for the filling. Soup was homey but a touch salty. Red curry was decent. Not much pork, mostly all bamboo shoots. - Pad thai (L10) ($13.45) - sauce was slightly sweet. Bean sprouts were raw. Surprisingly, a good portion of noodles. I saw a lot of good reviews about this place. I can't help but making a trip out here to try their Thai food. It is ran by authentic Thai people. B and I ordered the combo for 2. The combo came with 4 spring rolls, 1 green curry with chicken, 1 pad pak ruam and 2 steam rice. I got the thai ice tea and B got a beer. The food was ok. I found it had very little meat in the combo. Or should I say only the green curry had meat and all the other dishes were vegetarian dish. We did liked the flavor of the green curry. We ordered mild and it was quite spicy. I don't suggest ordering the combo. For the price we paid, the food was considered somewhat expensive for the amount we got. But hey this is Chilliwack, you can't expect too much. I liked the thai ice tea a lot. It was very flavorful. read more

We were in Chilliwack for a hike and came here for a late lunch afterwards. It was delicious!! Their lunch specials are under $10 and come with a spring roll, rice and a broth soup. Between the three of us we ordered 2 yellow curries, 1 Tom yum soup, and 1 pad Thai with shrimp. The curries and the soup were all amazing and full of flavour- even the mild spice had a bit of spice. The pad Thai was also good however, it had too much sauce. We would definitely return next time we are in Chilliwack. read more

This place was a bit pricy for the quality of food. I ordered the Fried Sweet Potato and Pad Thai. The server was a bit awkward but he was friendly. The appetizer was a bit heavy (of course, it's fried) but it tasted good. Nothing extraordinary but nothing terrible. It was as expected. The cucumber salad that came with it was a bit sweet for my taste and the sauce was really syrupy. It definitely coated the potatoes better as a dip, but I guess I'm just more used to the watery preparation of other Thai restaurants. I ate about 1/3 of it and gave the rest away to another solo diner sitting nearby. The pad thai was also pretty standard. I was able to get my Thai fix here and leave satisfied. No complaints here. I did want to highlight the restaurant was accommodating with my food restrictions. They didn't have any stand-alone vegan dishes but were able to omit a few ingredients and add extra tofu in its place. Certainly a vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free friendly place. Came here with my sister awhile ago and we LOVED it. The place was empty on a Friday night, which was shocking as it was some of the best Thai food I've ever had. I guess people in Chilliwack are too busy lining up to get into Earls and Boston Pizza. If this restaurant was in Vancouver it would be packed! I got the yellow curry with vegetables and coconut rice, and my sister got the pad sesame with chicken and crispy wontons. Everything was really good. We went here for lunch in a strip mall restaurant tucked behind 711 store so didn't expect much in terms of quality of food and service. We were happily surprised to see the restaurant was observing strict Covid protocols. After check-in we we're seated promptly in a clean booth. Lunch selections were tum yum seafood soup, chicken satay with peanut sauce and chicken pad graw prow for main dish. We could smell aroma of Thai spices, fresh basel and lemon grass. Soup was yummy and grilled chicken satay were tender and juicy with peanut sauce. Pad Graw Prow was loaded with veggies and strong Thai basil flavor. Having a entertainment book coupon, I wanted to try out the thai food in the fraser valley and although it was fine, I've definitely had better in vancouver. We ordered the pad thai and green curry with chicken as well as the deep fried fish cakes. The pad thai was a tad too sweet but had a fair amount of shrimp and rather than being ketchup tasting, it had a tamarind base. The green curry didn't have much chicken but was flavourful and quite spicy for mild-moderate. I believe that they don't use as much coconut milk as other places but it was still tasty! Unfortunately we couldn't use the coupon on the lunch menu but those seemed like a pretty good deal. I was out in a Chilliwack for work and was looking for a place for dinner and decided to check this place out based on Yelp reviews and of course a craving for Thai. First off, I was impressed that they had a dinner combo menu and even more impressed with how reasonably priced the specials were. I ordered the Tom yum noodles with tofu which also came with two Vegetarian spring rolls for under $12. We also started with a papaya salad. The flavours were amongst the best Thai I've had in a very long time. Everything I had was perfection. The hubby ordered the pad thai which he loved. My friend and I were heading back to Vancouver from out of town, and googled Thai restaurants - this place came up as being only a few blocks off the highway. Chilliwack has needed a place like this! While we did wait a while (like noted by other reviewers) my dining partner and I felt it was worth the wait. We had the red curry, which was very flavourful. And there was a certain depth to the noodle dish that you don't expect to find in a strip mall based restaurant. Having lived in downtown Vancouver for years, I have a few favourite Thai places - and I can honestly say this place rivalled "the big city" restaurants! With a few tweaks (e.g., more consistent service, perhaps using less of the space to create a more cozy atmosphere) I think this place could earn itself a 5 star rating down the line. I was in Chilliwack for a hair appointment which ran until 9PM. Both of my favourite sushi and Pho restaurants were closed so I looked up on Yelp to see what else was available and found Coconut Thai. The owner was happy to let me place a take out order, and I'm glad he did because it was some of the most delicious "home style" Thai food I've had in a while. Environment: The decor is a bit older but all of the Thai/Lao paintings and decorations were interesting to look at as I sat waiting for my order. Restaurant was clean and well maintained, and that's all that I really need or expect when I'm only paying $10-$12 per dish. Good: I ordered Chicken Tom Yum, Som Tam, Pork Larb, and a Shrimp Pad Thai. All of the food was packaged nicely and I was offered utensils although I didn't need any. Chicken Tom Yum was very flavourful and they were generous enough with the coconut milk that the soup was rich but not too heavy. Lots of lime leaves and lemongrass considering the size of the portion, so it's to see they are not skimping on the aromatics! Good portion of sliced chicken breast and they were sliced thinly enough that they could absorb the savoury flavour of the soup. Som Tam (Papaya Salad) was served with a portion of sticky rice and two chicken wings, just like the hawker stands in Thailand! Sweet, salty, sour and spicy! I could hear them pounding the papaya in the kitchen, so it's good to know this was made to order and wasn't made in advance in a huge vat like many restaurants do! The peanuts were no longer crispy but that was due to me not eating it until 40 minutes later when I finally got home. Pork Larb (Ground Pork Salad) was a slightly smaller portion than I expected but did come with a side of lettuce to wrap it in. Again, Coconut Thai does not skimp on the aromatics and there was plenty of mint leaves and roasted rice powder in the dish. There was quite a bit of liquid at the bottom of the container but again, this was probably due to me waiting too long to eat it. I would still definitely order this again for dine in. On to the Shrimp Pad Thai. Many of the reviews (from several years back) seem to complain that the Pad Thai here is too sweet. I'm thinking there may have been a recipe/chef/ownership change between back then and now. My order didn't seem to have that issue and the savoury flavour was well balanced. I really enjoyed the texture of the fried tofu. My only complaint was that the shrimp were a bit small (compared to other restaurants) and it would've been nice to see tiger prawns instead. Overall, a solid 4/5! I hope my review will convince those who might want to dismiss this place due to the previous negative reviews. This is nothing like the fancy Thai fusion restaurants you'll find in Vancouver, but reminded me a lot of the food my Thai/Laotian friends used to cook for me (sticky rice/tamakhoong/larb) The one point off was due to the smaller prawns on the Pad Thai, and small Larb portion, but the taste of everything was fantastic! About $46 or so dollars after tax for four dishes. Great value for money! read more

Strange experience which makes us hesitant to recommend this place. It was a Sunday evening and no one was at the counter when we walked in and we waited 3 or 4 minutes before someone came out, a few people were already seated. A young girl was working at the register and helping on the floor, she appeared to have little idea of what she was doing as she kept asking other staff for help. And, she was dressed so casually it was hard to discern she was staff. Our food took a REALLY LONG TIME to arrive and while we were waiting another table of 4 people complained they had only received 1 of their 2 appetizers in an hours time. 3 men came in and were waiting & they ended up leaving with a 15-20 full meals of take out and the 4 waiting were asking about their food which was not made yet. We got a chicken satay appetizer order by mistake but since our food took so long we ate it and they gave it to us for free since it was their mistake. When our food did arrive after about 45 minutes it was barely mediocre & honestly some of the worst Thai I have ever had. The chicken did not taste fresh and my wife's meal was no better. Perhaps they were having a bad day since I see other good reviews, but I say enter this establishment with caution based on our experience. read more

Not bad. Not bad AT ALL! Now it's a bit quirky when it comes to the decor. I suppose you would find similar decor if you'd go to a restaurant IN Thailand, but in Canada it's a bit tacky. I was on one of my regular runs through Chilliwack and thought I would look for a deal. This place came up on my mobile bandit and since my honey and I love Thai food thought we would give it a try. If you are looking for fancy decor, you are out of luck. The furnishing is a bit oddball but after a quick inspection we decided it was clean and safe. This is obviously a family run business and people sort of mill about. Now the food. We ordered dinner for three, just two of us but my man eats enough for a small village. Started with egg rolls - they were veggie and chicken and oh so yummy. The green curry was good, very comparable to the other two places I frequent. The Pad Thai was a bit sweet but I loved that they didn't skimp out on the shrimp and chicken. The broccoli and chicken was good but nothing to write home about. Over all we were happy with out visit. Tons of food that even without our deal would be good value. We will be visiting again soon. read more
