This review is long overdue...We were visiting from California and making our way to Alberta and we chose this restaurant at random during a quick pit stop. We were delighted with the quality of the food, the portions and the service. Food was very tasty and well presented, we felt we were at home... we are a Southeast Asian family. The service was slow since they had only two waitresses attending the clientele, place was filling up for a Thursday afternoon, but I did mentioned the service was good because these two ladies were flying around the place and making sure you were taken care of... I visited Thai D'or today and I have to say, it was EXQUISITE!! The manager informed me that they have new kitchen staff, and they are doing an excellent job. The Pad Thai was especially amazing, very flavourful! Thai D'or is most definitely one of my favourite restaurants in the lower mainland. I plan to come back very soon. read more

The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Service is great. I ordered the traditional pad Thai which should be a rice noodle dish with egg, shrimps, tofu, bean sprouts. Mine was rice noodle with rice noodle and stirred fry with more rice noodle. The portion is huge, so if you are hungry for rice noodle and rice noodle only, then this is the perfect dish for you. *edit... Many people asked why I only gave one star... Last week I finally had the opportunity to try this place as they don't have a delivery service but you can get take out. I throughly enjoyed my order and I will try it again even maybe today. Big changes here since I last went several years ago. They opened it to the light and completely revamped the menu, and the results are really good. It is hard to find authentic Thai food on the higher end of the quality scale in BC. There are a few authentic places that serve more street-style food, but few that deliver a more pleasant dining experience. Thai D'or gets it. It is too bad they don't have Southeast Asian servers who understand the food - the servers didn't really seem to understand the menu too well. They were friendly though, and otherwise well trained and helpful. They'd benefit from a few hours in the kitchen, learning with the chef. read more

The first time I was here was April 2012. It was amazing. The food, atmosphere and service was excellent. However, I definitely think it has gone down hill. I came here for the third time in on April 28th with 8 other friends. A few had allergies to onions and we specifically told them to remove it from the dishes. Unfortunately, dishes came out with onions. When we brought it to the server's attention, she went back into the kitchen to notify the chef. Strangely enough, the other dishes still came out with onions. She did not apologize, nor did she offer the dishes to be remade. My friends didn't want to waste food, so they ended up picking out the onions. I ordered the vegetarian version of the Pad Thai, and it was the most sour dish I have ever tasted. My boyfriend ordered a regular one, and he said the sauce tasted the exact same. The service and food quality definitely does not match up to what it was 6 years ago. Pricey vs. other great Thai options in Abbotsford. Service was very slow and grumpy and they seemed under staffed. Owner or manager came in to save the day when we were almost finished our meal and brought this up from a 2 star review. Didn't find anything unique on the menu. The food here was really good, and I wouldn't usually post a poor review for one bad experience with service. However.....not only did we wait AGES to order, when my friend indicated that we would like to order he was told "yeah, we will get to you when we get to you." We should have left right then. The food was good but they never returned once to ask how it was or if we wanted anything else, or to refill our water glasses. We also waited forever for our bill. I think they had too many take out orders, because it wasn't even all that busy. Then....wait for it....when I was half way through the leftovers the next day at home, I discovered a shrimp in my food. **We hadn't ordered anything with shrimp in it.** They mixed up our leftovers with someone else's when packaging it! Gross! I'm not allergic to shrimp, but imagine that you are, and that you ordered your meal carefully and you assumed that your leftovers are the same food - usually a safe assumption - and then you eat one and get sick or worse, have anaphylactic shock! Thai D'or has excellent decor and ambiance along with really good service. The red curry I ordered was loaded with fresh basil, crisp bell peppers and bamboo shoots and well-spiced chicken. Good decor. Much better service than the old mango tree. The staff were much more proactive than in the last permutation. The food was also better. I was very satisfied. Before it seemed to be more of a hang out than a restaurant. I was really impressed. Hostess was fantastic, server was ok. Tom Kha Gai tasted nice but barely had any coconut milk. Chicken Pad Thai tasted great but noodles were so skinny. My wife and I enjoyed this place when it was the Mango Tree. Sadly, our first visit to Thai Dor was a huge disappointment!!! Let me start by saying that the service was deplorable, and the floor manager appeared to lack restaurant experience because of his inability to defuse a situation that literally made my wife and I get up and leave! Allow me to elaborate. We were there for over an hour, and all we got to taste was the soup we ordered! The serving staff was not proactive in telling guests that there may be a slight delay due to a large hidden party that was in another room. Instead, they were reactive to our complaints of the length of time it took to get the food out. From there, it kinda all went down hill from our server bringing us the incorrect dish, only to have her return to whisk it away, and take it to the right table. Soon after, the floor manager appeared. (I guess he clued into our body language at this point) We complained about the long wait for our dinner, and he responded by saying, Quote: "I'm sorry, what can I say? It's Friday night, and its like this at any other restaurant you go to". WRONG ANSWER!!! My wife and I frequently dine out in Abbotsford, and we have never experienced this type of poor service and attitude before. It could have been handled properly with a little tacked and intelligence, but unfortunately, the manager obviously lacked experience in resolving a common issue found in some eating establishments! Needless to say, we asked for the bill (to pay for the soup), paid it, and left! There is no embellishment here folks, we will not be returning! read more

Heard super good things and was VERY disappointed with....well everything. Our server was basically none existent throughout the night. Took us awhile to order and then receive our food (20+ mins just to order), we knew what we wanted, and were trying to get our server's attention. Also, wasn't busy at all. When our server was around he was super friendly. We got a mix of dishes (veg, meat, and seafood). The seafood tasted like it wasn't cleaned and the flavours were overall kind of bland. read more

If you plan on coming here during your lunch break, think again! I have been here during my lunch twice and during both visits the food took waaaay too long. If you have an hour for lunch, you will barely have enough time to eat your food before you need to go back to the office. The first lunch visit was around noon and there was only two of us. They ran out of Thai Iced Tea so we just had water to drink. The food took a long time to come out, but the waitress did apologize for the long wait as it was fairly busy. When the food came out it tasted alright, but oh my was it ever spicy. I eat a lot of spicy foods so I thought I could handle a 4, but I think 3 would be a bit better since I did end up sweating and having my nose run a bit. During the second visit there were six of us and the wait for the food to come out was definitely over 45 minutes from the time we ordered (I can't remember the exact time). We noticed there was another table with a very large party trickling in after us and getting their food before us. I had heard someone at my table mention that they should've 'pre-ordered' before coming in because it can take a very long time for food to come out. When we got our food it was alright, nothing really special about it. In my opinion, I wouldn't come back here again unless it was pre-ordered or for take out - the food is definitely not worth the wait. If the owner/manager is able to hire more staff to get food out quicker, I'd consider coming back. read more

Even though we arrived near closing time, we were welcomed inside, never felt rushed to leave and still were served extremely freshly made food. We were customers several years ago but had several meh meals so had not been back until recently Yum. Pad Thai is great as were other menu selections in our group. the spring rolls are good too. Been back a few time in the last 4 months ! Contrary to Zero Z my pad Thai came with either rice or rice noodle on the side. The dish itself had no noodles in it. read more

Good standard Thai food. Nothing exceptional, the flavors weren't as good as other Thai places I've been to. Maybe this is unfair because it was probably about the hottest day of the year, but it was uncomfortably hot in there. So don't go when it's over 30C. Chosed the restaurant on a rainy Sunday evening because of the reviews on yelp. Pretty easy place to find and they have their own parking lot which was nice. Ordered spring rolls and papaya salad to start. The spring rolls were hot and delicious. The papaya salad was also very tasty. Ordered yellow curry with chicken and also ordered prawn red curry. Both were full of flavour and scrumptious. The real disappointed was the coconut rice. Do not order it! It was soggy and void of any coconut flavour and aroma. It almost was like the cooking staff added unsweetened coconut milk to already cooked rice. A real let down there. I asked the staff about it and they said it was made with coconut milk; I had better coconut rice at mall food courts to be honest but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Service was great though, our young waiter was a pleasure and charming with work with. Overall, a splendid dining experience albeit for the huge coconut rice letdown. read more

It is pretty good. There are a couple good dishes (cashew Chicken, sesame Beef), and some that are not as good (anything sweet and sour, as it tastes like ketchup). The service is hit and miss, depending on who you get. If it were cheaper, I would rate it a 4/5. As it stands you must get a dish, and pay for rice separately, so it can add up. read more

Their curries are made with coconut milk and CREAM! I noticed this right away as the curry was very curdled in appearance. It was NOT an authentic thai curry.
