Would not recommend. I tried to give a local landscaper a chance this year for a large spring cleanup and mulch...even agreed to pay $300 more than I paid an established area landscaper last season. He requested half up front and the final payment before the job was finished to pay the mulch company who delivered the mulch, but weeks later, the mulch company showed up at my house in person and said Codding had not paid them because we had not paid for the job!!! How embarrassing to put a client in that position, knowing I paid in full well before the job was complete. The mulch BTW was the best I have ever seen. The "clean up" was not great, the mulching for the most part was alright, but left a large area unmulched and did not put down weed prevention, which was contracted for. read more

He's a THIEF, scammed me out of $500.00 several yrs ago. he was to do landscaping for me, said he needed the money for materials, like an idiot I gave it to him. after many e-mails of him promising to pay (which, to this day, he never has) I tracked him down on a job In Washington, ILL that he also scammed the owner. James is the most dishonest, low life scammer there is! He'll talk a good game and tell you what you want to hear to get you to hire him for work, but he does not follow through with quality work and he does not pay his workers! I did landscaping mulch jobs for him last summer. My buddy and I each got screwed out of around $1,500 each. James straight up lied and made up the fact that his father was in the hospital and not going to make it through the night just to get out of paying us! Then he said he was going to take care of us as soon as he got back from the hospital after dealing with his father, which was still understandable and acceptable still at that point I thought due to his situation with his father. Things only got worse from there. Next when he finally did answer after my buddy and I called, left messages and text messages because we needed our money we earned. He finally did answer but then proceeded to tell us that his account were robbed him and so he had no money left! LOL he claimed he was working with his bank to get the money put back in his account and that he knows he owes us money and is definitely going to take care of us. Well I have not heard a word since that day and that was the end of last summer 2025 and it is now April 2026, so James is not a stand-up individual or even in a decent human being! He's running a mowing business and scams people to get them to work for free! I'm done playing his games and will be going after him in small claims court because it's all I can do (Legally Anyways). "Simply the Best, Better than all the Rest" I have tried numerous mowing services, all of which gave basic if not sub-par service, until trying Codding Lawn service. Everything was expertly done, with very knowledgeable and professional employees. Trimmed and edged taking care of flowers, so s not to "accidently" cut them down. The owner James personally walked with me around the yard listening to my concern and explained in detail what he would do to turn my yard around I am extremely pleased with the outcome and am confident that it will just look better and better..Please consider giving them a try, you will not be disappointed. read more
