I went to Codi Dada's office for what I was told was a one hour free consultation on the costs of making amendments to my existing trust. Codi reviewed my documents, made suggestions and made copies of my documents, scanning them to his computer. At the end of the meeting he printed out a contract for $2100 for 6 hours of work that he wanted me to sign right then and there, and pay for immediately. I told him I needed to think about it, since I hadn't planned to spend that much money. He immediately became irate, and said that I had taken 1 1/2 hours of his time, 20% of his day and that he didn't have time to give free advice. He said he gave only 30 minute consultations, (His secretary told me an hour). He complained that he had spent $11 printing documents none of which he was going to be paid for. I felt so bullied, and because I believed him when he said I had been there for 1 1/2 hours, I paid him $200 for his time. However, when I got to the car, I noted it was only 11:30 am, and my appointment was for 10:30 am, so I had been there only for an hour, and he lied to me about how long I was in his office! I came to Codi for a probate matter, fearing that it would be expensive, complicated, time-consuming, and possibly in vain. After talking to Codi for a few minutes, explaining my problem, I realized that I had made a good choice in selecting him to handle my case. First of all, Codi is a warm and personable man. He doesn't hide behind the fake sanctity that some lawyers like to build around themselves, like halos. He is down to earth and exudes--very important to me--the air of a man who is damned good at his specialty and whose self-confidence is well earned. It didn't hurt to learn as we talked that Codi is a well-known and respected probate lawyer at Big Pink (Marin County Courthouse). The powers that be at the courthouse know him, are used to him, and enjoy working with a successful, low-key lawyer who knows his stuff. Second, I realized after talking to Codi that my probate problem was a fairly common one and that there were well-established procedures for taking a case to probate court and getting a successful result. Codi mapped out how this whole matter would proceed and gave me an estimated timeline. I left feeling very confident about the outcome of a matter that had preoccupied me for several months. After that first consultation it feels strange to say that I didn't think about my probate case anymore. It had slipped off my mental radar, and I thank Codi that it did. The only times I would think about it were when Codi would send me periodic updates, none of which contained any distressing news. Due to several factors my trust situation is complex. Having to coordinate with the Charles Schwab Trust company required a great deal of additional patience. The final product is excellent. Altogether Codi put in more hours than either he or I anticipated. Despite this, and totally at odds with my prior experiences with attorneys, he stuck to his original fee proposal. For the sake of equity, and with no prompting on his part, I felt compelled to give him a fee bonus equal to about one third of his original proposal. This attorney drafted an inaccurate legal document in attempt to invalidate an updated Duel POA for my mother. Due to the inaccurate verbiage on the legal document, which was sent to Banks, SSA and APS it prompted several investigations. The investigations were ultimately proven unsubstantiated and they deemed that the updated POA was valid. He did not do his research or speak with the attorney that drafted the new Duel POA instead he just listened to his client who didn't want to "share" responsibilities as POA. I sure hope what I went through does not represent the type of attorney he truly is. read more

I am writing this update RE:my review for the Law Office of Mr. Codi M.Dada. As I stated in my first review. I was faced with a life changing employment issue. Since then I was given documents to sign. (NOT by Mr.Dada or his Law Firm) The documents were worded in a manor that could have effected me to be responsible for costly financial bills in the future.
