Unfortunately, he became ill and died before we could sign the final agreement. His heirs demanded we leave early in 2025. We incurred excess moving costs and lost 2025 guest revenue. When the heirs found a buyer for the property, they discovered their father had filed our long-term lease agreement with the County Clerk. We were asked to sign a Quitclaim Deed to assure the title company we had no continuing interest in the property. We used this leverage to demand compensation for our excess moving expenses and lost revenue. Tiffany is the attorney acting on behalf of the property owner and identified herself as the point of contact regarding the notice served. As such, it is entirely appropriate and reasonable for a tenant to ask questions related to that notice and the underlying issues affecting their housing. At no point was I given the opportunity to fully explain my concerns. Instead, my attempts to ask clarifying questions were repeatedly dismissed, and I was spoken to in a condescending manner. This was especially troubling given that there are serious, ongoing issues with her client, and both the landlord and representatives have been avoiding direct communication. Professional legal representation should include clear communication, especially when housing, safety, and tenant rights are involved. The lack of basic courtesy and willingness to address legitimate questions reflects extremely poor customer service and only escalated an already stressful situation.
