Their education is private and in order to learn it, you must be part of PROPTA, it is exclusive. I have been certified by PROPTA only, so far it has been 16 years and I am doing very well. I told him is was a long stretch for me and he explained that what his only option. Hour in traffic there and back, I sat with him and some other late student studying... He blew through the chapters so quickly I couldn't keep up and had no real understanding. The other student who came late was on a different chapter; so he just had me start on a random chapter to appease the other student. He said the only way to study with him is to drive out once a week to sit on these pointless sessions. After much thinking I decided to text him and let him know this really wasn't working out and I just have a hard time following his material and his way of teaching. I asked for a refund. He said "that's not the name of the game" I told him I would write a review on yelp and he told me he would counter back and call it "SLANDER." As I'm now a trained professional and passed my certification through someplace else I thought it was best I put it out there to everyone that they knew this mans attitude. Not knowing or hearing of his program when I was Signed up, I explained I was uneasy, and he pushed me to take his course and then refused to refund me. Over 1500$ down the toilet. My poor boyfriend had to pay for my certification lessons twice. This guy is a rip off and a waste of time. I recommend NASM if you're going to spend this type of money. Thank you for reading. As a yelper here for over 13 years, I don't sugarcoat my words (or in my reviews), and I don't intend to do so here either. The USC program is rigorous and not for everyone. There were so many readings that I often genuinely wondered if it was even humanly possible to get through them all. Granted, I am a slow reader, and that certainly did not help. Beyond the beautiful campus and the prestige that comes with the school, more importantly know that there is no financial aid for tuition fees for master program. Education does not come cheap. Still I am grateful for the learning experience and for my many professors who were simply wonderful and amazing professionals. I didn't attend this prestigious University; however, I joke that I am an honorary alumna. My brothers from another mother all graduated from here, and I attend Homecoming with them every year. In fact, I used to work with Eddie Tannenbaum who discovered Traveler (USC's Mascot) when he was a junior in 1961. The campus is beautiful and features several Romanesque Revival style buildings. A portion of the main campus was entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. The Coliseum is in walking distance. I've attended many football games here over the years and have seen Clay Matthews, Reggie Bush, Mark Sanchez, & Matt Leinart play. I remember the glory days of Pete Carroll. Our favorite tailgate party is the one hosted by LAMBDA. They have a great DJ, delicious food, a premium bar, fun activities and, of course, fabulous attendees! This year we were treated to yummy eats from Bludso's BBQ & tasty treats by Ice Cream Occasions. When the party was over, we all headed to the Coliseum for the match between the Trojans & the Huskies. Sadly, we lost this game but we will continue to Fight On!

I felt oddly compelled to write this review, as I feel like I'm constantly seeing acting courses that seem more like scams than anything else, and as a beginner or somebody just looking to start up classes again, it can be challenging to know who's the real deal and who's not. Harry Mastrogeorge is not only an acting instructor (though he doesn't see himself as one!), he has also directed countless productions for stage, film, and television over the decades he's been in the profession. He has also taught and studied at the prestigious acting school, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. One of his biggest inspirations for how he teaches is the instructor Charles Jehlinger, who was highly influential and taught some of the biggest actors/actresses of all time. He does private coaching sessions that he charges by the hour, but you also have the option of joining one of his weekly evening classes. At the time I'm writing this review, he has a class Mondays 6-11pm, Tuesdays 6-11pm, Wednesdays 6-11pm. These are typically small classes, so you get A LOT out of your time with him. I cannot emphasize this enough, he is such a supportive instructor and cares a lot about your future. If he asks you a question, he's not going to give you the answer directly, he's going to challenge you to think for yourself to figure it out. When I was in veterinary school this is how our instructors taught us, which in the end helped us retain way more than if they just hand-fed us the answers. He is training you to be a self-reliant, independent professional who doesn't need to rely on anybody to succeed. If you're new to class or your scene partner isn't there, you'll likely end up doing a reading from a scene or monologue book. You typically get assigned 1-2 stories to do with a scene partner. Each week you'll usually alternate between the 2 stories, but if you're new here you'll likely just start out with one. These are typically old stories from plays, but it varies. You do NOT rehearse these outside of class with your scene partner, in fact, it's discouraged, because in the real world when you're an acting professional, you won't always have the luxury of having your scene partner constantly around you when you're preparing for a role. Some examples of stories I've done in his class include: The Seagull, The Glass Menagerie, Sophie's Choice, The Boom Boom Room, Anastasia, among others. But he puts a lot of thought into the story he gives you to work on, so it will really vary depending on the person. Harry has taught a lot of celebrities, but he doesn't talk about them, he doesn't like to name-names. He's incredibly modest . Because he feels like their success has nothing to do with him, he just gave them the tools and they did the rest. I know there are a few former actors listed on his website, he didn't make his website, somebody who cares for him very much did that wanted to flaunt how awesome he is. He would NEVER lol!. The class is made up of people that heard of him by mouth or learned from him decades ago. The experience ranges from beginners to working actors. It's also probably important to mention that he's 92 years old, so just like any elderly person, he may repeat himself at times, but don't underestimate him, once your story starts he's ALL IN, and he's tough. He's going to push you to be better, he wants the best out of you. Parking is annoying in Hollywood, but always doable. I've never had an issue finding a spot.
