These people charged so much money and did not take care of my parents in the Memory care unit! Before my parents were in this place, they were at home I was watching my parents. I had my mom getting her up to walk, bathing her eating good food the moment she got into this place they never got her up to walk. They blended her food, and every time I would visit her I noticed something was wrong with her! She had dementia and didn't talk, but I knew in my heart and I can feel her. Something was wrong pictures don't lie.! At the end of her two months, she end up catching Covid. It was her first time having it.!! They kept her isolated for 10 days in a bed, not getting up nothing! They told me I was not allowed to see her. This was during Mother's Day for two weeks.! Finally, she became negative and I was able to see her on May 17, 2023, when I walked in my parents room, I immediately started crying, my stepdad was in a diaper with no pants. Halfway off the bed, my mom was laying there so skinny she wasn't barely moving.!! They both had poop! I put my head on my mom's chest. She was breathing so shallow.! I went out and told the nurse they didn't even know they were like this, my parents, how these people work there, and don't know!????? My mom passed away there May 18, 2023. My stepdad followed her May 31, 2023. They were both again and they're less than two months.!! This place is unacceptable and not worth your money or your families love one life !! If it was my choice, they would've never been in this place EVER! Rest in heaven parents you are loved and always will be in my heart!!

Unfortunately I have had a great deal of experience dealing with assisted living and skilled…read morenursing facilities and have found most of them to be criminally understaffed. Almost every place I have dealt with had patients lined up in the hallways, totally unattended - I guess as long as they're out of their rooms, It could be marked up as some level of care. It's hard to fault the caregivers because their hours are horrible and the working conditions are truly awful - but there are never administrators around to take your anger out on. I am happy to say that none of these conditions appear to exist at Astoria - quite the opposite in fact. This is the only place I have ever been to where the administrators are always around, they treat their residents and families like their own. I have never encountered so many wonderful, caring, genuinely kind people as those who work at Astoria. My mother-in-law has been a resident at the Oakdale facility since April 2024. She doesn't want to be there, she wants to be in her own home but unfortunately her condition does not allow her that luxury anymore. Every time I visit her, the staff greet us cheerfully, they respond to her needs within a few minutes, and they go out of their way to treat her with respect.

All apartments are single story and the grounds are landscaped with mature trees and footpaths. The Staff are very friendly and will everything in their power to help one. I feel very fortunate that my mother has been here because the atmosphere is very accommodating for her and one that fosters seniors to be active - exercise, computer classes, potlucks, bingo - are just some of the many activities or opportunities one can take advantage of, while living in private courtyard-like villa style apartments, all within equipped with modern safety precautions. The residents are friendly and always smiling; hence, I would recommend this place to others for Eskaton is very multicultural, diverse, and best of all comfortable.

We set our Dad up here since it was between me and my sister and only took an hour to get there…read morefrom either the central valley or bay area. First it was great, Dad was ambulatory (but cantankerous) and we planted flowers and herbs in the raised garden for him to tend. It went downhill over memorial day weekend in 2017. Dad fell, he was taken to the emergency room, they called both my sister and myself. He was released with no injuries, just really sore. When I saw him that night, he was in a lot of pain. since the hospital had not given him any pain meds, they would not give him anything for the pain. I ran to 7-11 and bought Tylenol which I gave him. When I returned later that night, he had not been given any additional Tylenol and was in even more pain. I gave him more Tylenol and had them check his blood pressure. I went home and called daily to find out how he was doing. I had set up a doctors appointment for him during the week. Brookdale took him to the dr appointment but they did not leave a urine sample. I called them to find out the results of the appointment and was told they would try for another sample and then ship it to the dr's office. He was not walking at this point, only using a wheel chair because his hip hurt. following Saturday, my sister and her family went to visit him, the room was dark and smelled. the floor was sticky by his bed and he was in adult diapers. They did not tell us any of this! My sister called and told me what had occurred and then had him ambulanced to the hospital, again. This time we were told he had a heart attack at some point during the week. oh, and his femur was BROKEN!!! needless to say, when he was released from the hospital, we did not go back to Brookdale. I would caution everyone regarding well care for your parents. how long would they have let him lay in his bed if we did not go over every weekend to check. you need to become 'helicopter' children when your parents go into assisted living. Dad passed away on August 7, 2017

Brookdale Manteca is catering to Mom's whims and needs, real and a smidge more than the gals of today even consider requesting. From dining, to medicine deliver at scheduled times, cleaning and laundry service, Brookdale does it all and with a smile. (I know I have eye rolls secreted with some Mama Drama but I've yet to see anyone here do that, lol) This morning I had to arrive far earlier than regular hours to take Mom to medical specialist. Brookdale was ready for me. Coffee ready, Moms meds for me to give her later, a list of her meds for the hospital, and a smiling assist to unlock Moms door when Mom would not answer/open. Brookdale has been 100% "How may we help you? " Mom doesn't care for the food served...but she is a princess, after all. Nothing is perfect. Thank you for caring so deeply for my parents, Brookdale Manteca...Marie and staff.
