I saw Dr. Cohen as a new patient . I was referred by my orthopedic surgeon for possible nerve damage in my hand. I should of gone with my first instinct to get the heck out of there upon arrival. The office was disgusting. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years and he had his 3 dogs there, black poodles. They were cute, I'm a dog lover but these dogs were barking loudly, chewing on the furniture, one peed on the carpet and one jumped in my lap. There were multiple stains on the carpet from dog pee. Didn't wait too long, the medical assistant called me back and She took a picture of me with a camera without asking my permission. I was nervous at this point cause the office was old, dirty and smelled like dog pee. The doctor came in, and he was very touchy . I was there for my hand and he touched my knee and groin while talking me. He did the nerve study himself, took him 10 mins and he said it was normal . I worked for a hand surgeon for 13 years and those tests generally take a half hour at least . I got crap service and I felt very weirded out by him. read more

Dr. Cohen is a HORRIBLE human being and I'm convinced that any positive reviews on here have to be fake. If there was an option for zero or negative stars, that's what I would give him. Here's why: I was in charge of my father's care when he was diagnosed with a very debilitating, incurable neurological disease. He initially had a wonderful neurologist up north, in Fairfax, but the drive became too much for him so I looked for someone locally. Unfortunately, Dr. Cohen is the only neurologist in North Stafford. At first, he seemed fine, though sometimes his bedside manner was a little gruff and borderline rude. We ended up seeing him for a few years and, over time, his bedside manner just became worse and worse. There were times where we would leave his office and sit in the car looking at each other like, "did that really just happen?" because his behavior was just that bad. I started looking around the room for a hidden camera at one point, wondering if we were part of some strange social experiment because I felt like there was no way that a doctor would act so badly and treat patients that way. I asked my dad if he wanted to find a new doctor, but he didn't want to start over with yet another neurologist, plus there would probably be long driving again, so we stayed. He truly treated my dad so horribly in the last years of his life. At one point, my dad was in really bad shape and had to be hospitalized. When he got out of the hospital, he was so weak and frail, and they set him up for in-home nursing. After about 2 weeks of that, the in-home nurse believed my dad was ready for hospice care (in other words, very close to passing). Unfortunately, he needed approval from his doctor so the nurse wrote up a report with her recommendation. I reluctantly made an appointment for him to see Dr. Cohen so that he could approve the order for hospice care. During that visit, he was even more incredibly rude, uncaring, and condescending than ever. My dad was clearly suffering and in bad shape and Dr. Cohen looked at him with total disgust on his face and spoke down to him the whole time. He did not believe my dad needed hospice care and basically just dismissed us. My dad died about a week later; his body just gave up. Believe me and the other reviewers who say this man is a horrible person, because it's all true. I still can't believe he's a doctor at all. read more

RUN!!! Do not see this man- i don't know how he's a doctor. He doesn't accept tricare so i don't even know why i went to him other then he was the one that saw me after my TIA in MWH..... that's all i can figure. I have never been to such a terrible doctor in my whole life. Firstly, his Stafford practice is absolutely filthy with dirt, grime and broken furniture. Second, he is rude, impatient, condescending and an all around terrible human. Third, he is a god awful doctor. I have been having a ton of health problems and my doctor suggested i see him about my neurological issues. He refused to look at the brain images i brought on C.D from Sentara. He stated " I dont need to look at the images, they take too long to load and the techs there NEVER make mistakes. Then he told me that i am probably mentally ill and should see a shrink. This was all within the first 10 minutes of my first appointment with him (that he was 40 minutes late to) What effing doctor doesn't review imaging himself??? So, needless to say, I saw him twice and never returned. I am now diagnosed with heart failure, 3 leaking heart valves, 2 regurgitating brain valves, asthma, restrictive long disease and a seizure disorder. Thanks for nothing, sc*mbag. I went with my boyfriend, who is suffering from Tourettes and unknown memory problems to an appointment with Dr. Cohen. I would NOT recommend him to anyone. The staff was friendly, but his office was absolutely disgusting. It was unorganized, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks, and there were actually holes in the floor where there was tile missing! The actual visit with the doctor was unimpressive, as well. He had absolutely no idea what was wrong with my boyfriend, and even went as far as asking "you're not just wasting my time here because you're smoking dope, right?" I have seen Dr. Cohen for the past 4-5 years and have built a great patient/doctor relationship with him. He has incredible bedside manner, listens to what you are saying, and works with you to find the best option for your pain control. I am moving, so unfortunately my time with Dr. Cohen has come to an end but I will never forget how well he treated me and felt genuinely concerned for my pain control. Dr. Cohen is the absolute BEST physician I have ever had. Not only is he my neurologist but I'm lucky enough that he is my primary as well. His NP, Ethel, can do my annual exams so everything I need is all under one roof. I had a serious brain disorder causing me to lose my vision requiring stenting of my brain. I met Dr. Cohen during the recovery process which was an awful, grueling time both physically and mentally for me. However, once Dr. Cohen took me on as a patient he was available to me at any time day or night, by phone, text, or e-mail and he has ALWAYS responded to me immediately. I had a lot of recovery and felt like I was always waiting for the next stroke or the next blinding episode or the next grueling migraine but Dr. Cohen was always there for me, always treated me in a respectful, kind and considerate manner, and always addressed all of my concerns no matter how serious or ridiculous they might have been. These days, physicians like Dr. Cohen do not come around every day. Not only is he an expert in neurology but he really cares about his patients and most importantly... he patiently listens and addresses and rationally explains everything. I will never move again primarily because my patient/ Dr. relationship with Dr. Cohen is irreplaceable. Dr. Cohen has been through the entire process with me from fresh out of brain surgery to literally getting back on my feet and starting a new career and I can say that, without a doubt, Dr. Cohen is the best Dr. I've ever had and I have no doubt that without Dr. Cohen I would not be succeeding in a new career as a single mother after blindness, brain surgery and a divorce. Thank you Dr. Cohen for getting me back to being well,and on the road to being higher functioning than I ever have been before.
