In a few months, they'll be moving to a new location, downtown Freehold near the American hotel. The store has wonderful and caring people will who are able to recommend to you the best looking eyewear within your budget. I am a collector of eyewear. I often literally coordinate my eyewear to my fashion. They make it affordable because they run specials. So they run specials, are they smooth sales people? Unequivocally, the answer is no. Several times I've looked at expensive glasses and if it doesn't look right, they'll tell you. Sometimes they sell me the more moderately priced frames. Who's ever heard of an honest sales person? Thank you Sean, Steve and the manager, Laurie. I've not used their current optometrist so I cannot say anything about him. They over charge here, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I have insurance and have been paying the same amount every time I've gone to the eye doctor. The one time I go here they decided to charge me almost double what my copay is. I brought it up to the guy at the desk and he said "that's what we charge here." Um what? That's not how that works. Then he said "the full price of this visit is x amount of dollars, so you're still doing pretty good." Yea I'm good with going to a different doctor. read more

I gave the store five stars because they deserve it! My 11-year-old son lost his glasses the other day,which is not good because he can't see without them. The last time I bought his glasses we went to Sam's Club. I went to Sam's Club with my son, and they told me it would be 12 days to get a new pair. I googled glasses locations in the local area and Cohen Fashion Optical in the borough of Freehold came right up. I gave them a call. I told the owner my situation with my son and he said he could get it done within a day or two to come down. I went to his location with my Son and the owner greeted me with professionalism. He was extremely nice with my son and patient. The doctor was there and was able to get him the glasses within the hour!!! where can you get that type of service. My son and I sat there and spoke to the owner, which he was a complete gentleman. We got the glasses within an hour! I'm glad that I went to a nice Mom and Pop store to help with the community and not give my money to the big corporations, I will definitely go back for now on! THANKS GUYS! read more

It was my first time to the store which is located in downtown Freehold. While awaiting my eye exam with the doctor, a very nice gentleman started helping me pick out frames based on a picture I provided. He found the perfect pair. Thereafter, the eye examine went very well and Dr. Arizmendy who thoroughly explained the entire process and the current status of my eyesight. A new script was written and they will be going into the beautiful frames found at Cohen. If you want to receive great service and meet nice people, look no further. read more

I'm writing this review only for the fact that I know warranty cirrcumstances. I know that once a warranty order is purchased by the company especially glasses which are made to order. The only reason they would not have the lenses is that they threw them away. You're not sending them back to anyone so where did they go. I was sick and had some bad family circumstances and i was coldly told on the phone I would have to start all over, and they were under new ownership(b.s.) same guy on the phone been there for years. It's a shame what this world has come to. I had a great deal of respect for this place until today.....don't go over priced customer service is only good when it's good for them. The staff in this location is beyond helpful! They have beautiful glasses and sunglasses. My glasses were ready to be picked up sooner than expected. I went there with a written script because my insurance participates with them. The guy basically threw the script at me and said he would not fill them, that I've does not get paid. My husband also got over charged for a fee that was covered, called him out on it, then got s place is aweful. Never again! Would give No stars if I could. read more

On par for what would be expected. Eye exam and contacts are standard fare for me here. Unsure why I always need to request a small bottle of complimentary cleaning solution when I'm spending over $200. (I use then when going through airport security). They get the samples for free and the bald guy who works there acts like I'm taking food from him. This store deserves no stars. If Shawn is that miserable he should get out of the business. Last week I went with my wife to return a pair of glasses. My wife wanted me there because she said this guy was rude to her. The frames were broken. Shawn was nice since I was there and replaced the frames. I made an appointment for myself. This week the frames broke again where the arm connects. I put them on the counter and a few days later there were craks all over. The arm, lens and where the bridge of the nose. When I went for my appointment I showed Shawn the frames. I explained that these cracked for no reason and Shawn looked at me and said, do i look like an idiot? He stated people come here and say they broke on their own when they actually broke them. He stated why dont you just tell the truth. Calling me a liar in so many words. We stated to argue and he said do I look stupid to you. Then he pointed to his forehead and asked if I see idiot on his head. He asked again if he looked stupid and his tone was loud and angry. I said maybe you are stupid. Than he refused to take care of me. I asked for the supervisor and he said he was the owner. The doctor went outside. Maybe he was embarrassed. I went outside and asked the doctor if he was the owner. He said "I don't want to get involved". I went back in the store and asked him how can there be so many cracks in the frame in random places if I did it. He took them and said he will give me the same kind as a replacement. I asked if he had different ones and he said, these are the only ones that will fit in with the lens I have. When I got them back they were heated and he shave the lens. I asked if this could be why they cracked in the first place, but he blew it off still blaming me. What a disgrace. Ive never bern treated this poorly. Ive been a customer with Cohen for 40 years. After he gave me the replacement frames, I asked him to check how many years I've been coming to this store...about 20. He said I dont have to check. I told him to cancel my appointment and I will never come in this store. He said the feeling is mutual. What a disgrace. I've been in customer service for 39 year and have 13 reports. I would never treat a customer the way he treated me. He used abusive language and I told him to watch your language. I cant believe he is the owner. If I owned this store and one of my emplyees were treating a customer like this, they would not have a job. I will also be checking with my insurance company. The staff here is the rudest I have ever experienced. Not only did the doctor mess up my prescription, but they outright lied to another provider when they asked to transfer my chart. They said my prescription was expired, even though it had only been a couple of months. It's bad enough that they're significantly more expensive than most other providers, but they do a poor job medically and professionally. read more

Had never been to this location before, but when I found out they accepted my coverage, I had to give them a shot. I just needed to fill prescriptions for myself and my son. I know the insurance determines what they will pay for and what they wont, but the selection I had was abysmal. The other selection of designer frames was priced in the stratosphere.Didn't have much interaction with the guy that I left my prescription with, but when I stopped in again 2 days later to drop off my son's prescription, the guy I dealt with was very helpful and courteous. My glasses were ready in 2 days!! Pretty good. Other than what seem to be very high prices on the designer frames. I have no complaints here. I usually don't write reviews, but I had to write about the wonderful experience my family and I had. Both my children and I had our eyes examined, the doctor was great with us. But then came time to find the frames and let me tell you that my family is very picky. The customer service at this store was top notch! They spent all the time with us and they helped us look fabulous! My daughter also wanted contact lenses and this was her first time to wearing them. The service with teaching her how to put them in was great. I can't even put eye drops in her eyes and they were able to teach her to put the contacts in her eyes. Now my daughter can choose between her pretty frames or contacts! I want to thank everyone at Cohen's Fashion Optical for the great service!! This Freehold Mall has so many nice and clean stores. Carousel and Trains for kids & family are nice and worth it. Do not buy balloon from people that works by the carousel because there are only two different size of balloons: $3 to $5. It only lasts for a day or it comes off fast and float away quickly because they don't know how to tie the balloons in the right away. Ripped off! The glass elevator is HORRIBLE!!! Selfish people would run to that elevator and push you and your kids away before you all come in the elevator. Two women pushed me when I was pregnant. I screamed at them, watch out, I'm pregnant! They didn't care and were very rude. It always has been the same issue with the elevator everytime I got to the mall but I don't use that elevator anymore now. Umm that's it. read more

They had a large selection and the service was top notch. They made a copy of my prescription and gave me back the original. Most places want to hold your prescription hostage. When I picked up the glasses I had a choice of a hard or soft case. That was also a very nice touch!!! read more

Customer service here sucks! The staff that works here act as if they're above you. Why the hell are you working there if you are above us? My daughter went there to buy her glasses. We were told it would take 3-5 days before we could get it back. I called on the fifth day and was told that it's waiting for the guy to install the lens into the frame. I got a little antsy because we were going on vacation that afternoon. I called them up to see if they could speed it up because we were going to be out of town for a week and my daughter's vision was blurry. I told them that I would need it in 2 hrs and asked them if they could do it. They said that they'll try. I called 2 hrs later and was told that it's not ready and that there were others ahead of me. Guess when they called me back to let me know when it's ready ahead? 3 hours after! I was halfway to my vacation destination already and couldn't turn back. My daughter was complaining that her eyesight was blurry. I told my daughter that it will have to be Lens Crafters next time or to another Cohen location. This is not the first time I got lousy customer service there. I thought customer was always right. I guess that's not so in this case. For that i would love to give 0 stars. But i am not able to. Was a loyal customer at freehold location for years. Must have spent thousands on myself, husband and growing daughter (who would lose and/or break often) customer service was great while I was spending $$$$. At one point when I began paying closer attention to my spending, I disputed a charge that I was unaware of for my daughter..an extra amount on an exam that I felt I was tricked into. An actual argument ensued!!!! I was so mortified. I had been spending 2-600 per glasses for the past 5 years and had such poor treatment that day!! Even if it was a misunderstanding the treatment was uncalled for, and the doctor did ASK if I would give permission for that extra part of the exam...I thought I was just giving consent since my daughter is 12. No one mentioned the cost. It was minor..but it was the principle. And the treatment after. Well, needless to say..that day I was about to drop another $700 on glasses, a new prescription for my daughter, as well as a pair for myself. I left with her prescription and never returned. Attention families with children!!! Go to WALMART or COTSCO. I got my daughter some really cool trendy glasses (I'm a fashionista type of girl and so is she believe me they look great) the frames were like $20 , yes, I said $20 (I thought it was a mistake and the frames were $200) with the lenses even being treated and frame my total for her was $69 dollars. They are fine, no issues, and if she did lose them the damage would be much less. Cohens should be ashamed at what they charge and really be kinder to repeat clients..waiving a $40 charge would've netted a $700 sale. Just dumb. read more
