At Coki Beach, you arrive expecting a quiet little Caribbean beach... and instead you get something far more entertaining a lively slice of island life. Parking can be a bit of a treasure hunt and you might have to pay a few bucks to tuck your vehicle somewhere respectable, but once you step onto that sand the water steals the show. Crystal clear, warm, and loaded with reef fish, this spot is famous for some of the easiest snorkeling on Saint Thomas just walk right in and you're suddenly swimming in what feels like a natural aquarium. Right next door sits Coral World Ocean Park, where they've been studying and showing off Caribbean sea life since 1978, which explains why the waters around Coki are absolutely teeming with colorful fish. But the real charm here isn't just the water it's the scene. Picture beach bars pouring rum punches, food stands grilling up island favorites, music drifting across the sand, and an assortment of savory characters , "I'm not saying it's a party... but it's definitely not a library." It's colorful, a little chaotic, and completely unforgettable the kind of beach where the snorkeling is world-class and the people-watching might be even better.
This beach is absolutely stunning! The water is crystal clear & the sand is soft. It's perfect for lounging on a beach chair or a little walk(beach isn't that big) along the water.It's honestly a little slice of paradise. The only downside is that the waves were pretty strong & a bit risky. There wasn't a lifeguard on duty so you def need to be cautious if you're swimming. There is even a sign that says enter @ your own risk. Overall, it's a gorgeous spot to relax, take in the view,& enjoy the sand & ocean(just stay safe in the water)!
What's not wonderful about a beach? Beaches are some of the most beautiful places on the planet. This one is no exception. It is very popular. It is an amazing place with lively music and full of culture.
Amazing view! Can't wait to be back! Visited Coki Beach and overall had a really enjoyable experience. It is a busy beach, but despite the crowds, it was surprisingly very clean and well maintained. The water was clear and perfect for swimming and snorkeling, and the atmosphere was lively and fun. That said, one thing to be aware of is that you will likely be bombarded by merchants offering chairs, food, drinks, hair braiding, and souvenirs. While most were friendly, it can feel a bit overwhelming if you're looking for a more peaceful, low-key beach day. If you don't mind the energy and know how to politely say no, Coki Beach is a great spot to enjoy beautiful water, good vibes, and a classic St. Thomas beach experience. Just go in knowing what to expect.
Small beach with clear water and a relaxed, laid-back vibe. My favorite part was definitely the pineapple drinks you can get them with juice, rum, or vodka added. There were quite a few vendors around, plus a beachside bar, so it was easy to grab food and drinks without having to go far. The area felt a bit sketchy , but once you're on the beach it's small, nice, and enjoyable overall. I'd go back for the drinks and views alone.
Busy hustling sandy beach. We did get in for a moment and checked out the fish swimming around but not much for snorkeling. Too crowded for our liking but if anyone is into drinks and loud party vibes this might be your jam.
Coki beach is beautiful! Be prepared to negotiate with the folk who sell chairs/umbrellas. They dynamically price the access to these. The beach is very very busy but has access to restrooms/food/drinks. Pretty snorkeling available and bring some dog bones to feed the fish. They love it! This was about a $14/person/a leg taxi ride from the cruise port.
Took a tram here when my cruise ship stopped at St Thomas. This is a lively spot with beautiful, clear blue water that's perfect for swimming or snorkeling, though the ocean can get a little wild. The sand is lined with booths and vendors playing music, serving food and drinks. I heard the price for renting chairs and umbrellas varies, so be careful. I bought something from the gift shop at the entrance that I later found at the mall for cheaper. As the day progressed it got a bit busy, it's an active beach with lots of local culture and energy. overall it's a great place to soak up the Caribbean vibes and enjoy a classic island beach day.
10/10/10. Island culture, melting pot, variety of food. Most gorgeous beach probably in all st Thomas. No cover charge. Tube rentals/ jet ski rentals. Live music. Careful because some of the food places are unsanitary. Also why is there a cemetery on the beach. Cemetery brings it down to 4 stars or else I would've given 5.
Heaven! I love this beach so much!!! The water is so beautiful and sand is too. It's never that packed which makes for a nice day on the sand and in the water. It's small but has everything you could ever want from a beach. They have several places to eat and drink and the servers walk around taking your orders for drinks or food and they bring it to you. You can also rent chairs and umbrellas. They have several restaurants to sit down and eat and drink too. We walked over here several times while staying at Margaritaville Vacation Club which is literally a 5 minute walk. I can't say enough good things about this place and the people who work on the island. I can't wait to come back and enjoy it all over again :) Enjoy :)
LOVED Coki beach, I went twice! Once on Tues and again Thurs. I saw online this has some of the best snorkeling in St. Thomas - I believe that is true! I didn't see any stingrays or sea turtles, but the variety of fish and corals here is unmatched to other beaches I went; it was actually about as good as Trunks bay in St. John at the national park imo! I saw lots of the same fish here as there too (eg parrotfish). This beach isn't big, but if you come early there's tons of space! I came around 9a on Tues and it was empty; by the time we left around 1:30, it was PACKED. We had gotten a nice spot under a tree though, and they charge $7 per chair if you want one. One other thing I like about this beach is they have stands for snorkeling rental or scuba lessons, as well as a nice beach cafe where we got breakfast the first morning (like pancakes and eggs). It's adjacent to a famous aquarium with a lot of experiences you can pay and do, so it's rather touristy in the area. Nevertheless, they have decent public bathrooms, little stands where you can get other snacks and tourist items, and foot wash stations. Lots of taxis are hanging around too, so not hard to get a ride. The water is crystal clear, and you can go pretty far out and still see a lot under water. One other cute thing too - when you get in there water, there are quite a lot of fish even near the shore. At one point I think they thought I had food, and several of them came right up to my face/hand; I even petted one fish like a dog; it swam away immediately when it realized I had no food lol. So that's a thing. One negative at least imo: there's a lot of folks smoking (mostly cannabis) at this beach. It was kind of a lot, even though we weren't sitting right next to the entrance where most people were smoking. Didn't love that. But otherwise, this beach is dope! Would absolutely recommend a visit while in st. Thomas, even if you aren't staying close by! And for what it's worth, my taxi driver said this beach is best over other famous ones for snorkeling, including sapphire beach, and magens bay.
Overall the beach area here is pretty nice. It's a small beach that's near the oceanarium just a few steps away. It's not a bad beach for snorkeling or for families as it is fairly shallow - although the water could be a little rough at times (not crazy though). The beach itself isn't very big so it can get very crowded especially as the cruise ships arrive and people who take excursions to the oceanarium next door hop over to get some sun. There is a changing area and shower nearby though which is very helpful. It is also a good beach for snorkeling.
This beach is great. Get there early to avoid getting a bad spot. Waiters/waitresses walk along the beach to get drink/food orders. You can rent chairs, umbrellas, and snorkel stuff. No one pressures you to buy anything. Green friendly. Has a public bathroom. View is beautiful. The drinks are STRONG.

Our resort (Margaritaville) had a free shuttle to Coki Beach which was nice! It was a short drive over and when you get off, be prepared for the tourist trap. A guy met us right off the shuttle to sell chairs and an umbrella. I think both together was under $20. While you're on the beach, there's people selling drinks, food, jewelry, etc. We were approached by a woman who took our order for one fried snapper, a couple of sides and two beverages (one alcoholic, one mocktail). We paid $99 for this. Make sure you have cash because it's easier to pay for things on the beach. We didn't have enough cash to pay so I had to get the establishments Cash App and pay that way. Or you can go to an ATM on site. Now... we had a great time relaxing on the beach, the view is absolutely beautiful plus the clear water BUT if you want something less crowded, I would say to find another beach. There were water activities like snorkeling, taking photos on a clear kayak, and so on so that was nice. There are also surrounding vendors to get ice cream, food, souvenirs, water, etc. Since we took a shuttle, we made sure we caught the last one of the day back to our resort. All in all, it was a beautiful beach day! read more

Parking is difficult and it's insanely crowded here. This is definitely a tourist trap. They charge $7 per chair and $12 for an umbrella, which is fine if they want to, but then they are very rude when you turn them down. One of the men kept telling us to move so he could put more chairs right where we were and told us we were "in his way." It's a public beach and I should be able to lay on my towel where I'm not in anyone's way and not get this treatment. This behavior also extended to others that didn't pay for chairs. The snorkeling isn't even impressive here. We snorkeled nearly every day for over a week at different beaches and this was bottom of the list. Glad we weren't planning on staying long anyways. I literally enjoyed this place soo little, that I forgot to take pictures of it. Drinks were weak, but the fish we got was tasty and fresh. read more

Coki has always been one of my favorite beaches on the island, in part because it was a place where locals tended to feel comfortable. It's become much more touristy which brings a lot of trash concerns and requests for changes to the cuisine so increasingly you'll see pizza in place of Caribbean food. Still, the beach is sooooo beautiful that it's worth counting to ten or getting there before the hot dog and pizza crowd arrives. read more

This is a beautiful beach and the food probably the best on the entire island. Think lobster tail for $25 a plate; sea bass for $20 a plate and extremely delicious! The chairs rent for $5.00 for the day and the frozen tropical drinks are fantastic! There are a few things that I don't care for at this beach. 1. The music is way to loud so move on down to the quieter part of the beach if you can find one. 2. The whole beach smells like marijuana. 3. There are lots of cruise ship tourists. My advice is to go to this particular beach when the cruise ship is not docked. The music is a lot less noisy when the cruise ships are not there. Order your food at 11:30, they don't open until noon but the bar tender will put your order in and it usually takes about an hour or so to get your food. Order your food with the open air grill area, the menu is in the open air wooden bar. The menu is on a board in the bar. The chicken wings are great but you only get 3 wings and they are $15 so I would skip those. read more
Beautiful white sands and turquoise water. This beach is run by locals. Parking can be tricky there is a very small lot with rocky terrain spots. --- Bring Cash---- they charge to park. They do have an ATM but it wasn't working when we went. There are many beach vendors walking about. We rented a large umbrella for the day for $20 it was well worth it. The beach is not as big as many of the beaches of St. Thomas or St. John so be prepared. We enjoyed the beach, great snorkeling. Make sure to swim to the reef to the right end of the beach that's where you will find a ton of marine life. Was the second best beach we went to while in USVI. First was Trunk Bay, St. Thomas. Overall we enjoyed our day there. Don't forget your snorkel gear and cash. Enjoy :) read more
If there are more than two cruise ships in port and it's windy definitely skip this beach, but if you want to see and get an authentic taste of St. Thomas coki beach is wild. I think Magens Bay is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for swimming, but we figured Magens Bay would be mobbed with five ships in port. Coki Beach was crazy. To get to Coki Beach from Havensight you'll go over the mountain and through the trees down around the hill and around treacherous curves. I love it. You'll pass two k-marts! Yes, k-mart still exists in STT! You'll even see magens bay on your way back if you're on the right side. As you get closer to the beach keep your eye out for chickens in cages in the trees. When you get to the beach find someone with a menu and tell them how many beach chairs you want and how big of an umbrella. They didn't even charge us for ours. If you love snorkeling and it's a busy day you're in for a treat. A lot of people feed the fish. I don't agree with that, but if you're feeding the fish I'm going to enjoy the frenzy of fish. The day we were there it was windy and rough and there was definitely a rip tide, but I still enjoyed myself and it didn't affect the visibility. You can probably get anything you want on this beach from a frozen drink, fruit juice, fresh fruit, and lots to eat. I didn't engage, but to be frank they weren't too pushy. Now, I had heard rumors of the devil's lettuce. I didn't smell any, but I did see it for purchase. What amused us the most was seeing an iguana and chicken almost duke it out. A chicken and her babies. Honestly it was one of the craziest beaches I've ever experienced and it just felt so STT. Terrific snorkeling. Entertaining wildlife. So many stories to tell around the table at dinner that night with our friends. St. Thomas never disappoints. read more

Powdery soft white sand. Crystal clear blue water. An open aquarium in nature filled with tropical fish. Although not as pristine as Magens Bay, Coki Beach is the beach to go to see fish, coral and sea urchins. If you are lucky, you might even see a sea turtle or two. Bring or buy fish food. Pack your snorkel and mask. Get ready for an amazing display under the sea. Blue tang. Rainbow parrotfish. Squirrelfish. Damselfish. Ballyhoo. Sergeant Major. Pencil Urchins. Brain Coral. Turtles. Snorkeling is best by the dive shop on the right side of the beach. Coral World is just across the street. Nice for a walk. Crowded when the cruise ships are in port. Entry to the beach is free. The scuba instructors are great with kids. So easy to take a shuttle from from Charlotte Amalie. Clean bathrooms. Bring a picnic lunch or grab a treat or ice cream from the restaurants along the street. Enjoy a peaceful afternoon at the beach. read more

I love Coki Beach for its fun vibe and feeding the fish. We've been to St Thomas twice in the last two years and Coki Beach on a Sunday, for Sunday Fun Day is a must... though it was definitely better in early 2022 when cruise ships hadn't really started coming back in yet after Covid. Coki Beach is a fairly narrow band of sand, so with the cruise ships back in full swing and dropping passengers off en masse it can get crowded, be aware and get there early for a good spot! Parking is limited as well, another reason to get there early, otherwise you risk having to park along the street which can be quite adventurous. Beach attendants offer lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent for a fee. In addition, there were floating lounge chairs and islands available for rent... THEY ARE NOT FREE and using them without paying is definitely frowned upon! If you are planning on staying the whole day, an umbrella is advisable since there really isn't much/any shade to speak of. In addition to the attendants renting beach equipment there are also 'waiters' coming around to order food and drinks from (they usually accept credit cards too)... or you can just get up, walk a few feet and get it yourself from a handful of beach shacks. Food is more authentic than in other places on the island and the frozen drinks are amazing. Snorkel gear is available for rent as well, and there is a dive shop, as well as a little touristy shop selling clothing, hats, sunglasses and such. All this, together with the music being played over speakers, makes for a very fun beachy Caribbean vibe. However, let's not forget the wonderful tropical fish and feeding them, an experience that still brings a huge smile to my face! Fish 'food' can be bought from vendors along the beach and the fish know it... you snorkel up to them and they swarm you eating right out of your hand, dozens of them, it's amazing! Is it the best, most pristine snorkel experience on St Thomas, no, but it is the most fun for sure. We also generally don't swim out too far or around the point towards the aquarium, so maybe it gets better there... for us Coki is about the beach vibe and the swarms of fish waiting to be fed. :) The aquarium, Coral World, offers a variety of experiences, but we've never gone, so have no idea if it's worth the money. P.S. We didn't have any issues with things getting stolen on Coki and we did both bring our cellphones so we could take photos, however, as there is never a guarantee just don't leave anything unattended that you can't live with. read more
A beautiful beach in St. Thomas! Definitely worth the trip! We got there early before the crowds, chatted with the locals and were able to rent 2 chairs and an umbrella for the day for only $20 total. The water is absolutely crystal clear and if you stand still fish will swim right up to you! Tip: Get there early to avoid crowds, bring snorkel gear, and bring cash! read more
I love this beach. Been here twice. Once 9 years ago and now again this year. It has a relaxed vibe. Reggae music in the background, blue water, the sound of the waves......... it also helps that it isn't as busy with cruise ship tourists. Parking is $5. We arrived at 1130 and parking was easy, but when we left at 2, the lot was full. The lounge chairs are $5 each and the umbrellas $10. Cash only. The water is calm and very clear. You can definitely snorkel and see a good amount of fish. It isn't super rocky, but I would wear water shoes. Food and drink is available. They mostly accept cash, but some will accept PayPal or Venmo. I didn't see anyone accepting credit cards. If you want to take your own chairs, arrive early for a spot under the shade. The bathroom was surprisingly clean. Bring hand sanitizer cause the sink wasn't working. read more

DO NOT EAT AT UNCLE BUDDY (NEXT TO CATCH OF THE DAY) - FOR YOUR SAFETY. We ordered a mahi sandwich and a mahi filet - I could not even bite into the fish from how hard and rubber like it was. My boyfriend took 3 bites of the sandwich and a hair came out of it (see picture). As nicely as human possible, we said we would not pay for the sandwich but we'll pay for the filet since it didn't have hair on it (even though I shouldn't pay for that either) the worker went crazy and started screaming at us and threatening that we will not leave the island or the restaurant and kept getting really close to my boyfriends face. He was saying we ate the food, i literally had one bite and left it and my boyfriend had 3 bites until we saw the hair and he stopped. He later came out with a chair pushed me (a girl) and attacked my boyfriend - everyone around was trying to make him stop and apologizing to us (so we were clearly not in the wrong). For your safety- do not eat here. We of course had to pay as we feared for our safety but this was not okay. read more
Concise Review Great snorkeling, soft sand, beautiful blue water - do go and enjoy! Chairs and umbrellas are available for rent - worth it... do rent them! ----- Longer Review We visited St. Thomas, USVI, for the first time in 2021, and had a great time. One of our more memorable days included snorkeling at Coki Beach. After a short van/taxi ride from our hotel, we waked a few steps to the sand, were were greeted by a nice gentleman who setup chairs and umbrellas for us.... $10 apiece and quite worth it... the sun's wonderful but it's also intense here in the tropics, so you need shade... you pay up-front... remember to tip him well. Coki Beach - BEAUTIFUL water - so many shades of blue; great sand! - Great snorkeling... We saw tiger fish, leather jackets (fish with yellow stripes along their top and bottom and through the tail but rest of their body was silver), princess parrotfish (deep multicolor.... deep blue/green to purple to yellow on the side), and squid... 12-16 inches long, "hovering" a foot or so above the bottom... wow! - There are waitresses who will bring your drink and food orders... do remember to tip them, too. The entire visit was exciting - for the fish and squid, and also so relaxing... fun with family & friends. This place is great! Can snorkel, swim and enjoy great views! Bring cash the local businesses have great food and drinks. Chair rentals are $5. Restrooms onsite are free and they have taxi service as well! read more
