This was our first visit, and I only had a little time and energy--we just moved to a new house…read moreyesterday, so me and my quads are beat! But I'm excited to explore the area, and the dog has to be walked! (There are no signs saying dogs must be on leash, but all the one we saw--except mine--were on leash. I leashed mine whenever we saw people approaching. BTW, there are no poop bags available at the entrance.) We did not make it to the lake yet--a steep bit had my quads saying "no no no no no." But the first 3/4 miles is pleasant and super easy. The paths opens from the parking lot with a well-groomed, hard-packed, super flat trail that is mostly in the shade--perfect for kids and even for some who might have mobility challenges. (A manual wheelchair would be hard to push, but it could some.). After about 1/3 a mile, that groomed, hard-packed trail ends and you get a regular forest trail. Lots of tree roots cross the path, but nothing daunting. A ways down, there is a shallow stream for your dog to get a drink, and there is a Ford of stable boulders that even a little kid could navigate with assistance. When you see the sign that says "Milton Marsh Dry Bypass," follow it. That should be obvious, I know. But my moving fatigue caused me to choose poorly . (It wasn't terribly bad--just narrow and muggy. A photographer I saw there said most of the views are crossed with power lines, but if you just look past them, it's fine. Can't wait to go back and check it out! But first, I gotta go unpack my house!

It's not a really flat walk, but nothing too steep or difficult. Just enough to break a sweat! The parking area we were at had enough parking for maybe 4 cars. The road is a well maintained dirt road, not too pothole ridden but there were a few here and there. The road is also a beautiful walk, I would love to walk on it everyday if I lived here! I really like the forest itself, interesting but also calm and peaceful. Saw some squirrels and a few little frogs. A interesting flower, I'm not sure what type or if it was just dying? I took a picture of it! Come check it out and enjoy the woods for a little while!

Cute and tiny little spot in a more rural area…read more My friend showed me this place while we were in the Burlington area. We only made a quick stop and grabbed some photos. If you are a photography buff, I would recommend stopping here to take some pics. I'm a novice trying to learn how to use a real camera, but it was fun to snap a few shots. If you like history, check out the sign about the Mills at Shelburne Falls. It is a very peaceful and serene setting. It was great to have a zen moment and listen to the rushing waters.

Smuggler's Notch State Park provides hiking, camping, nature programs, and mountain biking…read more Smuggler's Notch Park got its name because In 1807, President Thomas Jefferson passed an embargo act forbidding American trade with Great Britain and Canada. This was a severe hardship for northern Vermonters, since Montreal was closer than other markets in the US. Many local people continued illegal trade with Canada, herding cattle and carrying other goods through the Notch. Later, fugitive slaves used the Notch as an escape route to Canada. During the Prohibition years, liquor was smuggled from Canada over the improved road built in 1922. My mother and I just rode through and it was miles of the park with different areas to explore. The we're many hikers and explorers out. All I can say is the mountains are beautiful and the atmosphere is amazing. I would definitely want to come back in fall to see the trees change colors.

This is a gorgeous park along the shore of lake Champlain, with a wonderful walkway for locals and…read moretourists to enjoy the beauty of the landscape. The downtown Burlington is visible from the park. There's also tiny beach like sand area available. The adjacent park is also very popular among locals. The area bbq stations setup. Multiple playground areas with slides, swing, and marry go round. The park has two parking areas. One closer to main park, another one is further in, closer to the tree house. Both are paid parkings, but when we went on Sunday, we didn't have to pay. There are couple of volleyball fields next to the treehouse. We saw a bunch of people playing. The treehouse itself was underwhelming. Still it is a beautiful park to visit.

This is an amazing place to see sweeping views of the beautiful mountains and Lake Champlain. I imagine it would also be worth checking out at sunset. This is also a great spot for budding photographers. There is a small parking lot here, plus a couple of picnic tables. I'd say this is a must do for first time visitors to this fabulous city! With so much rain this summer 2021, I decided to make most of it and do a waterfalls tour…read more Huntington is a bit out of the way and this review is based on my first visit. HG is a dramatic natural stunner. It's compact, STEEP and loud with ROARING waterfalls. Many falls, you cannot see from above and without endangering self. There's been many fatalities over the years so swimming and climbing down to the falls are heavily discouraged by the local government. There are several very short trails from the road for viewing but the trails were ridden with poison ivies! Also, there were poured granite gravels in an effort to alleviate a landslide (which is rare in VT) from the paved road. One could cross AFTER (not upstream) the Gorge to cross to the opposite side. If you desire to, I'd recommend wearing a pair of water-shoes and perhaps not soon after rain. HG is unlike any other rapids I've seen in VT. It is worth visiting to see the extreme changes of water flow and power of nature. It's an out of place, tiny compact version of gorges that you see out West. Parking is sparse...a handful of spots above the Gorge. It was a bit of a downer to see so much (signs) discouragement. Obviously peeps don't stop coming....maybe they could embrace and build safeguards for everyone to access and enjoy this beauty safely?
