BUYER BEWARE. This store just wants your sale, they don't give a crap if they lie to you when it'll be there. My wife and I bought a sectional from a sales rep back in Feb. He said the sofa would arrive in 2 shipments. One early Feb, one by late Feb. Come mid-March. I still haven't received my second shipment. I have half a F@$!?ing sofa in my room and I had no response from my sales agent. I HAD to call customer service for them to tell me it was a manufacturing delay and it wouldn't be there until July. Thanks Colders. No heads up from you, no information unless I have to press. Terrible service and now I have random pieces of a sofa in my room for 6 months. I bought a fireplace/tv stand in December 2021. They delivered it without the remote control. The model I purchased is not built with nice buttons and those buttons do not use the fireplace's full functionality. At the time, they told me it was a supply chain issue. I waited and was patient. When the control finally arrived, they handed me a remote in a plastic bag. I went home and tried it; it did don't work. I called them and so a technician came out. Now he was amazing and confirmed I was sent the wrong version. I have called twice and am told they are waiting. As you can see, I've been dealing with this for shy of two years. Went in looking for furniture. The place is set up nice, but the styles are same old same old like Ashley furniture. It was hard to find someone to help me with my question....I didn't stay at Colder's because I felt like I was interrupting... Even being close to closing shouldn't matter on service!! I did notice in my time there that everything seems to look the same. Kind of cold Grey hues creams....it really does look like Ashley. Very difficult trying to find Traditional/Transitional furniture!! I use to shop there and the help was really great!! Times have changed but the parking lot is the same. We had a total nightmare dealing with this company. We got a stackable washer dryer combo. It was delivered by 2 kids that didn't set it up properly so it wasn't level. Had them come back. They said a part was missing, so they ordered it and we were suppose to call when it arrived. They came back and the part wasn't the correct part. Had a REPAIR man come. He said the hose drain was the problem. It hasn't ever completed a cycle. Won't drain. Spits water out the front bottom, tub overflows. FINALLY after a month, they finally said they would refund our money and come and get the unit. THANK GOODNESS...get this piece of garbage (fridgidaire combo) out of my house. So the general consensus seems to be the same. I would just stop reading this review, go back to your search engine and type in Biltrite. That's where it's at. And ask for Mary-Ann if you want. She's the best. If you are anxious to know the rest of my experience, here it is: I walked in and no one was around except for the lady typing at a desk. She waved and said hello. This place is huge and I wouldn't say in a good way. And everything was wildly out of my price range and I honestly didn't see one thing I liked. However the reason I was here was to specifically look at night stands. My gf and I are only missing these to complete our house. After I had walked in a ways, I was then greeted by that of Jose. An old man seemingly eager to help me find what I was looking for and let me know that the red tags were discounts. The night stands also happened to be allllllll the way in the back of the store, accompanied by the rest of the bedroom furniture. Only....when we got to the area in which I would find a night stand, he told me to have a look around and that if I had any questions that I could come get him. Then he peaced out. Not only did he peace, but he disappeared entirely. So ultimately I had to walk the entire store to find anyone. Wait just kidding, one of the three guys was texting and not paying attention to anyone and the third guy, who seemed to be their only friendly and personable employee, was with customers. If you drive on I-94 or 018th street you can't miss the giant Colder's sign as you pass by. Finally, the sign lured me in to check out this HUGE location. The store feels very dated from the outside and hasn't really been updated since it moved into this location (believe around the early 1970s). I went here over the 4th of July weekend looking for some living room furniture. The selection of everything is great and very extensive. The prices are crazy - even with the promotion of 30% off and then an additional 30% off, they were still higher than most other places that we were looking at. The staff was informative yet not overbearing, which was a really nice touch. We had a seasoned sales person named Kurt and recommend chatting with him since he did have some great information. You can literally get lost in this place. Overall with the price, the dated feeling, and the nickle-and-dime for small things this place went downhill in my book. Great selection that should be viewed if you're interested in items. I would definitely buy some small things like a bed frame. read more

I advised the salesman Sean I was looking for a sofa. He rushed me through the store like I was wasting his time. I did end up purchasing a sofa that day and decided to let his rudeness go. When the truck arrived with the sofa it was not the one I ordered! He was in such a rush when he placed my order he put in the incorrect model number. I went to the showroom the next day and he had the nerve to tell me I would need to pay an extra $31.00 on my order . I refused and he then wanted me to meet him halfway and pay $15.00. Fortunately the manager was right there and he took the extra off my purchase. With respect to the sale, Colders employees were absolutely spectacular. Their skills were flawless and I trusted them without hesitation when they proudly proclaimed that they backed the products they sold 100%. They said their name was everything and customer satisfaction was their top priority. I purchased a Midea washer and dryer - it's an off-brand that they highly-recommended. Two months after purchase the new dryer stopped working. When I called Colders, they told me they couldn't help me and gave me the number to the manufacturer. The manufacturer said they would call me in 3-4 business days to schedule an appointment. On day 4, I finally received an email scheduling the service visit in TWO WEEKS. I emailed Colders and asked them to call me - I have not received a response. I emailed the salesperson who sold me the products - I still have not received a response. Apparently customer service stops once the check clears and Colders is paid. Lesson learned - I will never buy from Colders again. ***UPDATE*** I sent Susan L. an email in response to her comment as requested. Four business days later, she has not responded. I assume her comment was a ploy to pretend public interest, but perhaps I'm a bit jaded at this point... It would have been better not to comment at all. Regardless, the repairman has diagnosed the issue: a new engine and new switchboard are being ordered. Keep in mind this is a two-month old dryer. Ordered a freezer in July, paid for it in full, told it would arrive in August, finally arrived the end of November. It is now late January and I STILL do not have my freezer. No communication from Colder's other than 1 phone call in November when it first arrived. I have a called numerous times and e-mailed them last weekend, no response. We live outside Wisconsin, so after confirming it was in stock, they helped me arrange delivery to a UPS store in Madison so we could pick it up during travel through the area. Colders is the worst store to buy anything from I spent like $4000 on a couch and loveseat the couch came 5 months after it was ordered when it came the arm rest on both sides was dented in some of the stiching was ripped and a screw fell out the bottom and the tray holder was broke. BE AWARE OF FALSE ADVERTISING MGR OR OWNER WILL NOT HONOR PRICE! Offered a sale price online for a washer/dryer combo emailed a receipt of purchase claiming to call with delivery information and a week later no call back. Called to see when I will have my product only to find out it was a misprint of sale price online and they will not honor the price given and had already cancelled my order without my knowledge. I asked what do they have that's comparable to the merchandise and he said they have no other offers on the same model. Considering this is not a corporate operated company I now know why they can care less about bad sales and misrepresentation of their merchandise or keeping their loyal customers happy. Came in last night for the first time with my kid to look at the price of a particular couch the first couple people by the door said nothing is me and my son walked in. Then I walked past another lady and this Karen already had an attitude and asked if she could help me. I said I will let her know well then she said that they're closed. I said oh OK I started to turn around and noticed that it was still 10 minutes before closing time which was more than enough time to look at anything, I've been asked her. What time do you guys close it and she said 8 o'clock I said well it's still 10 more minutes and then she told me well I didn't know what I wanted.... I never said I didn't know what I wanted. I just didn't want her to help me because I didn't need any help. They have a large selection, with pretty good prices, but I was completely turned off by the salesman. We were looking at couches, and I asked him where I could look to find out the brand name of the couch (for some reason, this seems to be some big secret), and he asked me, "Why?". So I said, "Because some brands are of a higher quality than others, I don't like to throw money away on a brand if it has a reputation for cheap quality. I always research a brand's reputation before I buy anything expensive." He say's "Lady, you have too much time on your hands." So I said, "See ya!" We bought a bed from Colder's in West Allis this spring during the big sale on Serta bedding. We didn't necessarily want/need a new mattress per se, but we did want a new platform storage bed frame and the mattress deal was too good to pass up (buy a mattress and get double the amount back to spend on something else of your choice). Because we were a bit wary of Colder's after our fridge purchase (see previous review), and because beds are freaking expensive, we shopped around at Ashley Furniture, Steinhafel's, and Penny Mustard to see what they charged for similar beds. Nobody had a better deal than Colder's, although I admit that the Steinhafel's Amish-made beds seemed like the most top-notch quality. They were WICKED pricey, though, and the Colder's bed was still good quality and sturdy. We ended up getting a dang nice mattress, nicer than we would normally have gotten ever, the bed frame and a coat rack (because we had extra money to use up from our cash-back deal) all for the price of the mattress, essentially. Plus the mattress came with a nice pad for no additional charge. The only downside was having to wait a few days for delivery since we wanted to sleep in our new bed! Also, the bed had a strong furniture stain smell that almost gave me a headache for a week or two after we had the bed delivered and put together. Wish I'd known about that, but really there's nothing to be done about it either way. The smell dissipated with time and we are now loving our new bed! Bought the extended coverage protection. Our sales person said if anything happens to the piece just call and it will be fixed. Jump to a few years later and guess what, the company who fixes the items denied it. Come to find out it's not if anything happens it's only if it's an accident. Called Colders to talk to them about it. Andrea in customer service told me " yes we have that problem of our sales people saying if anything happens it will be covered". Colders then said we could look into having it fixed but we would have to pay for it. There is a complete lack of customer service with Colder's. I understand the lack of inventory but we have had to change our schedule multiple times because of their errors and they are unapologetic and rude at best. Do yourself a favor and find a company that may not get the product sooner but at least treats their customers with respect. read more

Terrible customer service! Bought a Flexsteel sofa (model 5654-31F) and love seat (model 5654-20F) in January 2015. By August 2015, the cushion covers needed to be replaced because the fabric was fraying at the seems on all cushions. Service was called and after waiting for the new covers to arrive, the tech from Colder's put the new covers on. In November 2016, customer service was called again for the same reason. The seams were splitting AGAIN! I spoke with Erika on November 9, 2016 at 2:45 pm. I never heard from Colder's. I called again March 1, 2017 and spoke with Abner. I never heard from Colder's on that call either. I understand what a warranty is and I know that Flexsteel's fabric warranty is only for one year. However, I do not think this is a fabric issue but rather a manufacturing problem. When the covers were sewn, there was not enough of a seam allowance left. Once upon a time, Flexsteel was a brand you could trust. I have 5 other pieces manufactured around 2003 that are in better shape than the 2 pieces purchased in 2015. What a shame! read more

I needed a dishwasher on a Sunday as I couldn't get parts timely to fix our broken unit. Colder's had a special buy sale on a Kitchen Aid for a great price. I ordered it over the phone on the way there and went straight to the service desk upon arrival. Was a quick transaction and left within less than an hour with the new dishwasher loaded in my truck. Stopped in last night and was helped by Pinto, and it was a great buying experience. The best furniture buying experience I have ever had. The furniture quality was a lot better than some of the other local store options. Pinto was very helpful in showing my girlfriend and I some options and then giving us some space to allow us to talk and make the right decision. In the end the Double Bucks Deal was the answer, and Pinto helped us upgrade our Living Room and Bedroom! I would 100% recommend asking for Pinto next time you stop in! read more

Literally just left Colder's and must say the customer service was great. Immediately upon entering the store my wife and I were greeted by Marcelino Pinto who took the time to explain the layout of the store, store sales promotions, then allowed us to browse the store. We had several questions and Marcelino was able to answer all questions thoroughly and left us feeling well informed. Currently walking around a furniture store in Brookfield that is going out of business and not one employee has said a word to either one of us. So kudos to Colder's for teaching your staff the importance of customer service. Kudos to Marcelino on a job well done. Give the man a raise. read more

Can't believe furniture section still open should only have appliances area open. Putting people in danger-furniture not exactly essential

1st I want to say my sales person Maxine was wonderful. I originally purchased a complete suite of appliances from Ashley furniture but when they arrived they were damaged so I sent them back. I have a restriction on the size of refrigerator I can have. The space only allows for a counter depth and 33 inches wide. I was originally told by Ashley that the refrigerator from LG was 29 deep. I was extremely happy that colder's was able to get the same appliances even though they would not match the price I paid at Ashley. Almost a $600 difference . While doing some work where the fridge is going I realized that something just didn't seem right so I printed out the spec sheet for the refrigerator. To find out the refrigerator was only 29 inches deep without the refrigerator doors on it which made it actually a 34 inch deep. So it would not fit. this was two days after I placed my order. So I immediately called my sales person and explain the situation to her and that I would not be able to take delivery. She asked me to do some research to see if I could find one that would it and she would talk to her manager to see if he could find the right fit. About an hour later I got a call from a manager telling me that I would have to pay $750 to cancel. I told him that was way to much for something I haven't even received yet. He then offered to split it with me and I agreed. Later that day he called me back to tell me that he could not get the owner to agree to that. And now I would have to pay $1150 to cancel the order. I was never told nor did I read the fine print on the receipt but Colder's has a 30% return fee. I explained to anyone that would listen that I could not afford that. I can't work because of my cancer and $1150 would not allow me to get new appliances. I even offered to take in store credit but fell on deaf ears. I will never step foot in Colder's again! Dear Colders of West Allis, I'm appalled at the delivery service that I received today. I was greeted at the door by a young man who was annoyed by the amount of furniture he had to move and "install" into my house. It was made apparent when he sighed at me and stated, "There's a lot of furniture." Next time I buy furniture, I will buy it from a company who appreciates the thousands of dollars we spent on their product. I showed him where I wanted the furniture to be placed. I offered to move my car from the back of my house because I thought they would back their moving truck into my driveway. When I asked if he wanted my car to be moved, he responded with an annoyed, "Yea." They hauled the furniture to the back of my house and inspected the stairs that led to the basement. The mover asked if I would sign a waiver saying they weren't responsible for any damages done to the house. I asked him if I could call my fiancé and if they would move the bedroom furniture in first. The mover would not wait for me to make the phone call and said the downstairs furniture must be moved in first and was very pushy that I signed the waiver. When it came to the bedroom furniture, I asked if they would switch the new mattress with another mattress set. The mover was very annoyed and answer "I have to ask my boss", which he never did. When the mover asked me to sign off on the job, I asked if they could move the fireplace, the couch, loveseat, lounge chair, and the coffee table because they were all sloppily placed in the basement. When I pay $150 to have Colders move and install my furniture, I expect: - no complaints from the movers to do their job - for the furniture to be placed in the right spot - no rushing so that I can cover my end - swapping mattress because it's the decent thing to do Everything the movers did was to cover their end, include take pictures of everything. There was no interest in making sure the customer was happy. Next time I am in need of furniture, I will make sure to look elsewhere. read more

Many years ago, we purchased a love seat and sofa from Colders. We had both a long time and it was well made - when we sold the set at the time we moved into our condo, we went back to Colders to buy two recliners and a flex steel sofa. We were told by friends that flex steel is the best. Now, a few years later, the sofa looks worn (and we care for our stuff and have no children or pets on the sofa) and the chairs are ready to fall apart. We paid quite a bit for all. Will never go to Colders again and we will be soon purchasing a new sofa and chairs from one of their competitors. When I called Colders to see if they could recommend someone who does upholstery to see if we could have the sofa recovered at our expense, they gave me some names of people to contact - all of which told us they do not do that type of thing. I agree with some of the reviews on here that the "look and feel" of the store is a little dated and odd. That's really the only negative I've experienced though. My wife and I went here on Labor Day 2015 to get a new washer/dryer since we saw the deals were pretty good. We hit a good lull in the traffic because the store wasn't super packed. Thankfully, the salesmen were pretty relaxed with us. Only two ever stopped over and asked it we needed help with anything. They were polite and respectful that we were just looking. Never felt any pressure. Eventually asked some questions and got solid answers on the washer/dryer we were interested in. Salesman tried a slight up-sell on a better model but was polite about it. Since I've been in sales before I know how it feels so I was polite and we passed. No big deal. We ended up also finding a great deal on a new fridge so we picked that up too. Checking out was a breeze and everyone was nice and easy to talk to. Here's what I really liked. We ended up having trouble with the fridge. The ice maker just stopped working even though I changed the filters and tried resetting the system as I found instructions online. Ended up calling Colder's for a warranty repair and the customer service woman was extremely helpful. She listened to my problems and helped me get in touch with the warranty vendor. It was fairly easy and I appreciated that. I'm still waiting on getting the warranty tech to finalize a date to come to my house though... But I don't hold Colder's responsible for that. Overall, it was a good experience and we'll definitely consider Colder's for future purchases. read more

I purchased a night stand. It was on back-order and was told it would be there in about 3 weeks. 3 weeks went by and not a word, so I called. Customer Service said it now wouldn't be there until April (double the time I was originally told), I asked to have my sales person call me back to discuss. Another week went by and still no call from Colders. I called this morning, was transferred to a manager who I explained the situation to. He said "So you want to cancel the order", I said "Yes" he said "done" and hung up on me. Worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. Bought a serta mattress and box spring. The item received was defective, they measured it and confirmed it was sagging well below the 1.5 inch threshold, they sent a letter confirming this and advised us to come in and pick out a new mattress. We went in only to find that they no longer carry serta and we would need to pick one from their new line. We advised that we just wanted the same mattress again said we could pick from the new line or deal directly with serta. Called serta and they advised that they never came out and measured and wanted to charge for delivery and inspection. So we then called colders they said that they sent serta everything and they weren't sure what they were talking about. To avoid the hassle decided to pick from colders new line. Come to find out that if mattress is is not on an approved foundation it would void the warranty. Requested an even exchange for the box spring with was approved by their warranty claims department. Went In to the store to pick out a new mattress and was then advised it would be a credit situation. And that we would need to pay the different for the box spring which would be close to an additional $450, their sales man then tried to sell us on their current sales promotion. Had to leave store with only a mattress and had to do further follow up to confirm we could get a box spring. To clear up them selling us a defective item took a total of 10 hours and 20 some phone calls between me and my husband. They had no contingency plan in place for dealing with serta claims and acted like it was our problem to fix. They lacked customer service skills, corporate accountability and ethics. Be advised that if I would not of looked up the warranty info for their new brand they wouldn't have offered to exchange boxspring and that would of voided the warranty. The customer service was horrible! We spent over $1,200 (including the extended warranty) on a lift recliner for our 96 year old father. A year and two months later it got stuck in the upright position! Called on a Wednesday for service and we were told it would be a week before someone could get there! Like most seniors in assisted living with mild dementia, our dad's life revolves around his chair and the tv. We explained. Their response, "Sorry. First come. First served!" After asking for a supervisor several times and a lot of begging, they sent someone out in two days (Friday). He came and removed the motor and control. Said they'd order it on Monday. On Monday they said it would take TWO weeks and then they'd schedule a service call! More begging. Agreed to put it on a truck on Tuesday and it would arrive in a week!!! Finally after another week it was repaired. Unbelievable! The worst experience ever. During this time my dad's caregivers often found him in bed watching tv. It was the only comfortable place! Horrible customer service all round. We initially went in the day before Labor Day to buy a sectional and a bed. We were told by Tim that he would be right back to help us and then never came back. We came back on Labor Day and met Emmanuel. Service was great he told us that our items would be delivered within three weeks or earlier. I by fluke happened to call yesterday just to see what the cancellation policy was. The first customer service representative kept telling me that special orders take 8 weeks. There would be no refund because our sectional was custom ordered She became short with me and argumentative. I asked for her manager and I was"disconnected" irritated, I called later and spoke to Justin. I told him what I had explained earlier and he told me that my items were not ordered until today(two weeks later) I was upset and asked why and his response he's just trying to help and I'm being rude. Yes a customer service representative did say this to me. I spoke with John the manager and he also could not explain why my furniture order was place two weeks late. No one called us to tell us there would be a delay in ordering Unbelievable. Finally Susan called and told me my order was canceled but offered me free delivery for the first week in October. To me free delivery is nothing, simply because we have to now rearrange our schedules to meet their needs. We would prefer to pick up our items on our available time and not wait for them. She did tell me that Justin apologized however that means nothing to me either I spent approximately $3k at their store, they screwed up and did not communicate with us, and I'm rude. Sue also indicated that she didn't have to call me today. She could have left the order cancelled. So she did me a favor? Or did she try to save the sale? I told her she needed to offer more and she said she would get back to me. As of now I have no idea if my order is canceled, there's no money in my bank account, and I have no written confirmation of cancellation. Be careful who you deal with. I don't trust these guys ***Update please read**** I was vacuuming behind the couch today and I noticed discoloration on two of the cushions. At first I thought that maybe it was because they are close to a sunny window until I turned them over and realized they were a different color and material. I called colders today and spoke to Monica in customer care. I told her the situation and she told me to bring in the wrong cushion along with one of the correct ones. She also told me it was my responsibility to make sure the product was correct. Given the horrific experience we had, I expected it to be checked by colders. I told her I wanted to speak to a manager. John indicated that he would have a tech call to come out and implied that would happen today. When the tech called and said they earliest they can come out is Tuesday afternoon. I called John back and he said that he never said today..yes he implied it. Now we have an issue because of work schedules. I called John back and he accused my husband of not answering the phone..he called the techs back. I insisted that John get a tech on the phone tonight and because of this being their issue they need to work around us. He said he would have someone call us tomorrow. I told him I'm working and cannot deal with this tomorrow and insisted someone call tonight. He finally said he would and no one has called. Also, come to find out that Susan who dealt with out issues in October is the Human Resources director and never told John about our issues back then.. lies lies and more lies. They can't trans by their product and they also provide lousy service. Take your money elsewhere. read more

Found a great mattress for a great price. Customer Service was good. We were greeted when we entered and assisted until we left. I would return to Colders. read more
