I'll start with the bad so we can end this on a good note.
This is my local supermarket so I shop here mostly for connivence. I do not recommend this store if you are elderly or in some way disabled because to get to the toilets it's quite a walk up lots of steps or the very steep ramp. They're currently working on making some closer to the store but I currently avoid this store where possible because at 7 months pregnant it's just too difficult.
The main flaw however, is that after many bad experiences here I do not trust the produce to be fresh. I've bought fruit and vegetables here before that have been rotten inside and I've just realised that the pitta breads I bought there just yesterday whilst in a rush are covered in mould.
I've contacted Coles on their Facebook page to complain about this and whilst they said with a receipt I could get a refund (I'd misplaced the receipt though) they weren't very apologetic. After working in retail myself for 3 years I expect the same standard of customer service as I myself provide to customers. Coles McLaren Vale didn't meet those standards.
The good thing is that the store is very nice and modern looking and if in a rush they have self serve checkouts which make things run much quicker than waiting in a big line just to buy a few items. They always have plenty of checkouts open too.
Overall not a good place to do your main shop but fine for picking up a few bits as long as it's not fresh produce and so long as you don't need to pee. read more
