Yes I know this is a Coles, but its a fresh pretty Coles that is shiny and new…read more I think the layout is pretty fabulous, especially towards the freezers where the aisles are split in the middle, meaning you don't have to wander aimlessly to get to one item. They give you shortcuts people! Another novelty for me is the clear freezers against the window. For some reason I notice this. But then again I'm doing anything to distract me from walking out with way too many items. Job well done Coles Patterson Lakes.

Hallam was sorely in need of a bigger supermarket without residents having to drive fifteen minutes to surrounding suburbs to buy milk and bread (without having to fork over ridiculous money for it). Given how new it is, it's clean, shiny and has plenty of space. They allowed enough room for on-site parking which can be a bit of a pain at peak times but just means you'll have to be a courteous driver. In terms of what's available it's the same as every other Coles. It's just exciting that the area finally has a local and it's actually a decent store.

Nothing fancy but with a decent range of stock, this a great spot to stock up on the essentials- bread, condiments, milk etc. They don't stock fresh meat here so if you want that you will have to go to Berwick or Pakenham. The supermarket also has a small bottleshop which is pricey but good to grab a quick bottle of wine or a six pack on your way home.

I enjoyed roaming around this store having a look at all the interesting things it had. The products it carries, you can tell are mainly geared towards what the locals tend to buy so they didn't have very much in the way speciality stuff which we're use to being able to get but it was just such a huge and beautiful store that it was very enjoyable to wander through. The only downside I saw was the distance from where we were staying which was definitely not their fault!

But, they have survived in this spot forever and obviously the Berwick community has supported this business- which is great, because it is so much nicer buying fruit and veggies from friendly faces rather than in the bland anonymity of a massive supermarket. Berwick Fruit and Veggies has a wide range of stock that varies from season to season. They also sell flowers and a range of other items such as jams and nuts.
