They have exhibition spaces on the main floor and 2nd floor. When I visited in March 2026, the exhibitions on view included The Second Printing Revolution: Invention of Mass Media, and Running through Heaven: Visions of Jack Kerouac. Upon entrance, you sign in with the desk and make your way either to the ground floor exhibition space or the 2nd floor space. There is a small coatroom, if needed, and an elevator. Admission is free. They host public events as well as private members-only events. The staff was nice, and there was a tour of the exhibition on the ground floor when I arrived. It's a good value, especially as a rare free activity in NYC, so pay them a visit!

It is a must-go for Irish literature fans. The intersection of history, publishing, and action is on full display. I went on a day with a tour by the collection curators. Even if I had gone on a day that the fabulous tour was not included, the information plates would have guided me. They are so well done. This is a free experience! The best value is to learn with people who truly care about what they are teaching. Thank you, Groiler Club, for the highlight of my trip to NYC. Henry Street Settlement - Dales Jones Burch Neighborhood Center is a non-profit organization…read morelocated in Lower East Side where the community seek and obtain assistance gaining access to food, apply for housing, healthcare, employment including mental health services referrals which enabling one to sustain stable lives. This Dale Jones Burch Neighborhood Center program was opened in 2019 on the former site of a defunct firehouse and adjacent to Henry Street's headquarters. The staff is very welcoming and attentive. I came here for a workplace training session. After reading their pamphlets and literature about their services I am elated with their offerings available. I am finally included to be on the other side... at long last. Nota bene: All services are free.

They have multiple lodge rooms and each room is designed and built under a different school of architecture. There's a really cool library located on the 14th floor that is open to the public and hold a lot of interesting Masonic artifacts. Finally the 6th floor has a huge amazing Gold George Washington (Brother Freemason). Highly recommended!

At three stories high, the chess board adjacent to 767 Third Avenue is the largest in the world…read more The pieces are embroiled in a near-perpetual match, but the moves are exceptionally infrequent; each Wednesday at noon a piece is moved via the use of a cherry picker in a slow, ponderous recreation of some of history's greatest matches. A flag to the board's left indicates which side has the next move or whether the game has reached its conclusion. History: Melvyn and Robert Kaufman are high-rolling brothers in the high-rise world of Manhattan real estate. They abide by one rule: Whenever possible, buy or build property with 7 on it's address, so 767 Third Ave, they have prospered since casting their lots with their mother's favorite number. They erected a 40-story skyscraper, like a brick-and-glass grandmaster, 767 Third commands what may be the largest chessboard in the world.   Before the tower went up, the Kaufmans faced an aesthetic problem: What to do about an adjacent nine-story apartment house whose cement side would stare baldly down at the terrace around the base of 767 Third. The brothers decided to affix a four-story-high grid of metal beams to the house's offending face, and create a vertical chessboard on which they could re-create great chess matches of the past. Blue and beige playing pieces 2 1/2 feet in diameter fit neatly into each square, and every week play advances another step through a historic game, e.g. Frank J. Marshall vs. Amos Burn in Paris in the late spring of 1900. A flag, flying to the board's left, heralds which color moves next, or whether a match has reached checkmate.   Every Wednesday at noon a hydraulic cherry picker hoists a building employee so he can move the appropriate piece, while a permanent plaque below the board refers pedestrians to the lobby of the building where the concierge can supply a bulletin with playing tips and information on the match in progress. Those so inspired can take up a game of their own, alfresco, at one of the four wooden tables subjacent to the big board. Why chess? Better to ask why not. The Kaufmans have garnished the top of one of their properties with a full-scale model Sopwith Camel fixed on an AstroTurf landing strip, and the bare side of another with what's touted as the world's largest digital clock.

Besides being a beautiful building to look at and work in with the facade of brown granite in a…read moregridiron pattern with a white background, I find the mural inside is one of the unknown hidden wonders of New York. The 752 foot tall AXA Equitable Center was designed in the postmodern style by architect Edward Larrabee Barnes with 54 floors with a vest sky lighted entrance atrium featuring a large  by mural by Roy Lichtenstein called Mural with Blue Brushstroke, which he completed in 1986 which is over 20 feet tall but looks way taller. The lobby has five entrances  7th Ave, 51th, and 50th Street and the rare 6 1/2 Avenue with its vaulted ceiling over public space and art installation on display. For additional tidbits there is an underground tunnel to the concourse at Rockefeller Center, an auditorium, a fitness club, several restaurants and the building was once hit by a helicopter.
