Mind you, it can be a bit confusing finding the entrance, namely because it happens to be behind the shop, not the front, namely because you won't be able to find a park out the front anyway. Oh, and they also deal only in cash, but still, it's a pretty awesome place to go and explore for some books.

I'm definitely a used book buyer, so I don't find myself liking proper stores much. The thing with Booked was, some of the books really looked like used books... Though I'm pretty certain they aren't. They are very misleading with some really cheap books out the front for about $10-$15, but then the prices inside are nothing like that. Hence why I would rather get a used book or buy online (which makes me sad because I really enjoy bookstores and I don't want them to be extinct). They have a decent selection, but again, I wouldn't make my way back here again.

Places like this have a real charm about them. The prices are reasonable for older novella, discount book bins have good finds, and the newer releases are on par with other bookstores. There's a wonderful selection of Australian authors to pursue. Malouf and Lawson etc. I'm a fan of the laconic works in the Australian literary works. It's a great place to browse or search for obscure literature. Talk to Joan or Peter if you're looking for something specific.

I get them from my local library, op shops, garage sales, friends and then, there's the second hand bookstores that I adore immensely. This is a good bookshop as it sells some pretty good quality books. Yes, they're second hand and they deserved to be, as I believe a book never ends its journey. Instead, it looks to a new voyage via a new owner. Boasting a handsomely laid out bookshelves, one can get lost in time in this bookshop. Politics, ancient history, arts, gardening, sports, romance, crime, children, mystery, fiction, non fiction, autobiography, journals...they have it all. I probably found some books a couple of dollars more, if not double than what I would find in an op shop or flea market. If the pricing doesn't bother you, I highly recommend a visit as the books are in pristine condition and you have the option of selling your books here, for some extra cash and for someone to love them..again and again.

So, not surprisingly, we suddenly changed our entire plans and wandered in here to have a look around. Well, as it turns out the owner was incredibly friendly, and my friends immediately struck up a conversation with him while I spent my time exploring its nooks and crannies. Not surprisingly, I discovered a number of books that I had been looking for, and had given up in frustration and paying top dollar for. However, there was enough here to keep my attention for quite a while, and I eventually wandered out of here with more additions to my collection.

The…read morealtruistic reasons to shop here are quite obvious - the proceeds go to Oxfam's projects and you're reducing waste by buying second-hand copies of books instead of new editions. The practical reasons are fairly self-explanatory too: you get a much larger and weird range of books to browse at a second-hand store, and they are cheaper! I do feel the store might do a little better if it was within a shopping strip of some kind, but it isn't entirely out of the way. The books here are well-sorted and there is a wide variety of new and old. Some secondhand bookshops lie on the pricey side, but this one is very reasonable. I would rate this as one of the best second-hand bookstores in Adelaide.

There's even a separate section for new Australian Literature: at two bucks a pop who wouldn't? Oxfam have an extensive memoir and biography section with creepy titles such as 'How I survived Being Left to Die in a Closet' and 'Letters from a Christian Citizen.' Fun browsing to be had. Considering how cheap everything is, the store is impressively organised with very specific sections of Non-Fiction and everything in Author A-Z. The short story section is one of the biggest in Adelaide and the kids and classics areas have seats so you can sit next to the wall of books and crane your neck all afternoon. I walked out of here with nine books at the price of fourteen dollars. Oxfam makes me so happy I want to sing.

The staff really know their stuff, and as Mario explained, they're really big supporters of Australian writers. I've grabbed a couple of books as gifts here just recently. The price was alright - not cheap, but not outrageous, either. The place is a fairly busy one, especially before Christmas. I like this place quite a bit.

I love suporting small bookstores, I think they're great for the community as it creates jobs for…read morethe local community, they stock different book titles that you don't normally see at the bigger stores and support local authors. Mostly Books does just that. Every year, they support South Australian writers and have a Meet The Author session, followed by a Q & A. I think it's a brilliant initiative in keeping the writing industry alive and most importantly raise the profile of our locally bred writers. A Book Club is also held here, on the third and fourth Thursday of the month. I like coming here to get inspiration from fashion and vintage books, cookbooks and also to pick up a Lego book from the one too many parties we attend.
