Honestly, they have major improvements since the beginning of year, I've noticed a remarkable difference in the grounds, maintenance is always driving around in their golf carts and trucks. I moved from PA and staff is the typical mid west vibes friendly and welcoming. The apartments are good for their price, yes not the most updated but if you are looking to keep your overhead low it's worth it. I'm in a two bedroom and it's spacious and located in a good spot between my job at the hospital and here. Pond is a huge plus, stocked every year that is a plus. Would be really cool to have canoes for residents. read more

We have the office several times about issues, the most current being the broken washer that has been broken for months now. We were told that they had to order a part. It doesn't take months to order a part. Now we're being told that they are waiting on approval from the owner to order a new one. They stated that the owner doesn't get back with them wry quickly and that there is nothing they can do about that but wait. They are saying it will be, at the very least, next year before it's replaced. They aren't really the friendliest people to deal with. read more

I don't know if this used to be a good place to live a few years back, but it isn't now. Dirty, smelly, outdated apartments that are not well maintained or well insulated. Our apartment was not clean upon move in, doors and carpets were obviously damaged by a previous tenant's pet (again, SMELLY) and not repaired, A/C register is extremely loud, and more. Maybe they stuck us in a particularly bad unit because we signed a short term lease, but if that's the case, that's a really dishonest way to treat a tenant you're asking to pay an extra fee each month. Maintenance is currently severely understaffed. For hundreds of units, they have one or two handymen. If you live here, expect to wait days or weeks for someone to deal with major problems, and for them to do their best to "get to" your minor requests. Website boasts of large, beautiful grounds, but they are not well maintained (ex. volleyball court completely overgrown and unusable, have to weave on the sidewalk around tree branches) and do not make up for the units themselves. Overworked and unhelpful office staff. The only person in the office that knows what they're doing is the manager, Donna. The other one or two staff can't answer your question and/or give you wrong information. Consistently answer phones while you're talking to them in the office, laugh about the piles of undone paperwork and maintenance requests, etc. Tenants are not there to commiserate with you about doing your job. Every time I'm in the office I am shocked by how unprofessional the staff is. As a cherry on top, the year is 2020, but no services are available online. Maintenance must be requested by phone or in person during office hours. Rent can ONLY be paid by check or money order delivered during office hours--no cash, no card, no online option. What?? In conclusion, don't live here. read more

Love this apartment complex. Beautiful scenery, it's quiet, you can do your laundry in the unit and not have to leave. Everything is right there and apartment setup is nice. I feel at home. The staff answers my questions. Maintenance is usually quick to respond to any issues. Thank you for making me feel at home. read more

After an extremely unprofessional, destructive & violent issue involving the STAFF & property manager at Colonial Crest, I reached out to LILCO MANAGEMENT this afternoon who is supposed to be who manages this apartment complex. Not only is there no professional information such as an email or website listed, the phone number listed has no way to leave a voicemail & the address is the same one I live at. Just notification that it was created in 1991 & employs very few people. It is no wonder the property manager believes she can behave in the most inappropriate & aggressive manner not only last night but in her constant text messages to the residents -- she doesn't have anyone real to report to. I have never seen anything like this place in my life. So sketch. I would leave 100x a 1Star Review. Your children are not safe here. My front door was KICKED IN by maintenance with my two children (12 & 15) inside because they would not answer the door while I was at work. We have video of the maintenance team both acknowledging that someone must be home since the chain was locked & of the property manager showing up to my house & yelling at me for calling the police after I walked into this kind of damage & terrified kids. No one contacted me about this issue so I could advise my children that it was safe to let them inside over a leaky toilet. The property manager was insane. I have never seen anything like this in my life. Even the officer stated he had never seen anything like this. ripped my door frame trim off the wall, snapped it & busted the chain completely off. After this happening last night, woke up today to zero water so I called the apartment complex & they stated the water was shut to the entire complex because of a busted line, but none of us had been notified. 4 minutes after I called in, they sent a message to the residents about the water. SO UNPROFESSIONAL. Donna sends mass threatening text messages out to the residents On a regular basis. It's just insane here. INSANE. I will say Jaime is very helpful & as wonderful as she can be, but definitely has too much of a responsibility load. Always kind, though. Just-- do yourself a favor & find somewhere else to rent from. All the positive reviews from a few months ago were current residents getting $50 off their next month's rent. Our washer has been broken in our building for over 3 weeks now and we have families living here who need one for basic living. We've all called, I've called twice, they keep telling us they've ordered parts and nothing. They evicted friends of mine during COVID for unjustifiable reasons, and that was illegal. They let people smoke cigarettes in their homes and another friend of mine complained about it and nothing was done so they had to move to a whole other building. They don't respond, they don't do anything, and they don't care. read more

Ive lived here for awhile. Better than the other choices you have. Lady with short blonde hair that works there is kind of a bitch and isnt understanding nor helpful. Donna is a really nice and friendly lady. Design of the apartment style is old and bathrooms are small for a one apartment. A lot of leaks if it rains too much. Is dog friendly to a point. Doesn't seem safe at night and is mostly silent during days and nights. Can be expensive. read more

Hi, I am a psychology doctoral student and I lived in Colonial Crest Apts for 2 years. Lets just say that it was THE BEST APARTMENT I HAVE EVER LIVED IN!!!! I love quiet and peaceful neighborhoods and found Colonial Crest to be serene, peaceful, quiet, and tranquil. Some mornings, I was woken up by sweet cardinals chirping outside my bedside window. My neighbors had bird feeders and I saw so many different types of birds including bluejays. On the weekends, I would just walk outside holding my camera and capture some of the most beautiful birds right outside my backyard. They have a sweet looking pond with adorable ducks swimming outside. If that doesn't convince you enough, the next best part about the living here is the apartment itself. The walls are NOT THIN and I slept peacefully for 2 years without hearing my neighbors at all ! One time, a window had cracked and I emailed the administrative staff and they fixed it in 24 hours !!! Another time, I called them and they fixed it within 1-2 days too. Their repair and service response is 100 %. This was my first time living alone and I was scared at first, but 2 days of living there and I found this to be a safe and open space. Their fixtures are updated and the layout of their apartment is both functional and pretty. I love cooking and found their kitchen to be extremely well-designed. When my friends from Indy would visit me, they loved my apartment. They called it my "Muncie Apt". The next best thing about their apartments are the people- both administrative staff members and the neighbors. The staff are really professional, warm, and helpful. I think that in general if you give respect, you will get it back. They are unlike other landlords. They are honest, and respectful people. I kept my apartment clean, checked out, and had a smooth check-out experience. Some places want to steal your money and charge you some crazy fee when you are moving out. But COLONIAL CREST is NOT like that. If you are honest, they reciprocate the honesty too. I had wonderful neighbors too. There were times when I left my car light on, and my neighbors would kindly let me know so my battery didn't die out. When I was leaving, people offered to help me move my stuff too. Being a doctoral student, I have LOTS to study and lead a very stressful life in school. But I can say that coming home to a "home-like apt" helped me release some of that stress. I studied for this big scary exam, called the "prelims" and found the apartments to be quiet and peaceful. I studied near the ponds, on my balcony, in my room, and heard absolutely no noise. It has been only one day since I moved out and I miss it so much already ! For the price that they offer, this place is steal and is definitely "home away from home" ! read more

Wow, where to start? Let's get the one positive thing out of the way first. They have a lovely looking pond, with a fountain, ducks, and a gazebo on the property. It's a bit sketchy if you want to actually walk around it (the trees and weeds are overgrown into the path), but it's lovely to look at when you drive by it. Location: if you want "out of the way," you're in luck, you'll see where it is on a map, but what you should realize is that you're on the wrong side of the railroad tracks, if you need to go to BSU or the hospital. I was there in a "corporate apartment" for 5 months and learned that you will be stuck waiting for trains, which actually sometimes just park for a while. Old buildings that need repairs: The walls are very thin, so you'll hear everything. For example, my neighbor listened to the audiobook of Harry Potter in the morning in the bathroom. Yes, I could hear it clearly enough to know what she was listening to. It didn't really bother me, so didn't mention anything (had it been something else or were I to be there longer than 5 months, I would have). Also, the thin walls and doors will allow you to smell what everyone is cooking in the units. The old building is apparently very rodent friendly as I heard them scurrying in the walls, and neighbors told the me that that has been going on for a while. The units aren't weatherproofed, and I could see the curtains and blinds moving with the cold wind from outside. If I had been paying for utilities, I'd be pretty mad about that; however, the $1,100 per month rent for a 1BR furnished apartment included utilities. A chandelier of 10 bulbs illuminated the common area, which was shared by four apartments in my building. Only two were working when I arrived, making the area pretty dark. When I asked for the bulbs to be replaced, they were immediately. I learned from a neighbor (in another building) that her chandelier was down to one working bulb and that she was concerned for her safety. I urged her to go to the office and told her that my issue was fixed immediately. She said that was only because I was in a corporate apartment and that they paid more attention to my issue because of that. Maintenance: They didn't do any shoveling or salting; however, there was a bucket of salt at the door of the building, so perhaps tenants are expected to do that. When my thermostat died, it was replaced immediately. When things were missing in the apartment, they were made available within a day or two; however, if there had been a checklist to be sure the apartment was actually ready for move in, things wouldn't have been missing. For example, corporate apartments usually have a vacuum cleaner, but this one didn't, so I asked for one, which was delivered quickly. However, I immediately discovered that the very cheaply made vacuum simply spewed dust and dirt (if you guessed they delivered the vacuum without a bag in it, congratulations). All of this was generally tolerable (I had to be there for a job), until today when I learned that I was lied to about prorating the rent on the last month of a corporate lease. I know I'm to blame for not reading the lengthy lease and assuming that the people there could be believed - lesson learned. However, I was verbally told about the prorating, and figured that I could, if I rushed, move out in the middle of the month and save about $550 (half of the monthly rent). I learned today that they don't do that, which allows them to be paid rent while they turn the apartment, and may even collect double rent, if they get someone else in there quickly enough. I obviously will never go back. If you choose to do so, don't listen to person who will tell you "this is a standard lease, read it if you like, but we can get you moved in quickly..." Perhaps not prorating a corporate apartment is standard in the industry, but I didn't expect lying to tenants to be standard too. Like I said, lesson learned. read more

I like the neighborhood and it is clean and kept up well. This is a truly great neighborhood and it's in sync with my lifestyle. I take comfort living in such a nice area. Safety is paramount and the crime here seems to be nonexistent. This residence is close to places for jogging, biking (by a river), playing tennis or golf. There are several families here providing opportunities for children to play, socialize, and make lifelong friends. Easy access to public transportation is a fantastic plus for this neighborhood. There are great restaurants, shopping, and markets in this proximity. It's also close to entertainment if looking for movies, theaters, bars or nightlife. read more

Have asked multiple times in writing and phone calls to get trees cut. Have photos and now branches hitting cars that park here. Have had numerous issues with maintenance. We have had ac leak for months. They are NEVER in a hurry to fix anything. Can't wait till lease is up. I would NOT recommend this apartment complex to anyone. Now since Ice is falling the trees are touching the cars. Have had a really BAD experience here. I have no idea how they have a high rating. I don't do reviews but feel strongly about this place not taking care of its clients or its grounds. After complaining to neighbors they say the same things. Wish I had known. No more after lease. Colonial Crest is truly the gateway to Muncie. The property is in a great location, it is well maintained, and offers great landscape. The management team is easy to work with, the staff is friendly, and all service calls are answered and resolved in a timely manner. This place is great for all walks of life. read more

The walls of these apartments are very thin. I have to sleep with 3 fans on so I don't hear my neighbors through out the night. It is a very expensive place for what you are offered. I've stayed at nicer apartments for way less than I do here. Not very impressed with my stay at these apartments. read more
