I am in Colorado for the summer and my Fl. Dr. requested some lab work while I am here. The order was faxed over and I went by to verify it was received. I was told it was received and no appointment was necessary. Two days later I went and was told they had no record of the order. I was referred to Endocrinology due to bone fractures and osteoporosis. I have a functional medicine doctor who was treating me for some underlying chronic infectious diseases, and I included all those test results in the documents I sent to the practice prior to my first visit. It appeared that these were ignored, and I was prescribed a lower dose of thyroid med. After a few months on this regime I became fatigued and eventually could not digest meals (even vomiting) At a follow-up visit after about 3 months, the TSH reading was high and I was put back on my original dose of levothyroxine. It is now another 2 months and my body has still not resumed its prior ability to digest food. I realize my situation is unusual because of underlying chronic conditions, but these were ignored in determining my treatment. read more

I went to the Urgent Care and was told by the staff there that they took my insurance. Now I am getting harassed by the billing department and they are not part of my insurance. They will not work with me with the bill and are rude. In addition, the provider that I saw at the urgent care gave me the medication that was not best for my issue. I went to the doctor when I got home who said that he would never have provided that prescription to me. So I am harassed for a bad useless visit. read more

ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE!!!!! While I have nothing but praise for the medical practitioners, this clinic appears to be very poorly managed. 75% of the time I call no one picks up the phone and the answering machine doesn't pick up. The call just drops after about 10 rings. I wrote a message to the office manager via LinkedIn and didn't receive a response. I now see that you can't even contact her on LinkedIn. I have had two Zoom doctor appointments scheduled where I wasn't sent the link to the login and spent 15 minutes of my appointment actually trying to get onto the call. I have had medical tests taken where the records were lost and I had to re-take the tests. This facility needs a practice manager that will take responsibility for all of these issues. Their response as of late is to blame it on the pandemic, but the pandemic has been going on for over a year. That is plenty of time to fix the issue. UPDATE: 4/9/21 I spoke with the practice manager about this. We confirmed the phone number I was calling ... and still the problem persists. The problem is that their voicemail system can't handle the volume of calls. As such, often the voicemail tries to answer the call and then it rolls over to a number where there is no voicemail and no one picks up. I have spent more time around trying to reach someone than I have actually seeing doctors. :-( read more

I am on Medicare. I had asked my Dr. at CMM a question on the patient portal. I was told I had to come in for a visit to get an answer ( simple question about Hyper-lipedemia medication) . I asked my insurance if this would be covered . They said it depended on the code that the DOCTORS gives to them. I called the insuramce branch of CMM to see what code was covered. They said it "shoild be covered but the Doctor's office itself had to give me the code. I sent called and left a message and did get an reply in a few days from a clinical assistant at that Dr Office who said "It will be billed as an office visit" Iasked for the code as there are at least 5 codes for office visits with different variations of coverage. I got an extrememly rude answer, bad attitude witha big sigh from her stating that she did not know the code until I actually went to the Dr office??!! So I am cought in a catch 22 where the Dr office won't give me the code but the insurance company can't tell me the price without it. It can be $400 for me to speak to this Dr for 15 minutes. Big difference and I do not think it is unreasonable for me to ask what I wil charged for this 15 minute conversation and do not think this question should be met with a snarky "what a pain to have a patient ask what it costs" attitude. No wonder CMM has 2 stars on Yelp. I am now looking for another Dr. read more

My child was there last year for a ski trip. He was exposed to a Covid + person. He was asymptomatic and just wanted the test. They not only did a Covid test but also a physical and a flu test which he did not require, ask for or made aware of. They do not accept my insurance and it came out of my deductible, so it was all out of my pocket. We have gotten many bills from them. We called and offered to pay for just the Covid test but they refused and said this is how they do it. Now my son is getting collection calls. This is gouging and taking advantage of our current pandemic situation. read more

I have seen almost every GYN available at CMM and not one has ever listened to a word I said in regards to my concerns! I went in to my GYN today after a year of taking myself off of birth control. I wanted to know the next step in getting my cycles back on track. She said there was nothing she could do and I had to wait it out. WHAT??? She gave me birth control pills to regulate them! WHAT??? I want to be off that stuff. I have been constant for 3 months non stop. I asked if my cycles will go crazy again after the 3 month dose. She said "I can't see the future". That was her answer for everything. She also asked me, a wife wanting to start having children, if I wanted a clamídia and gonoria test........ BTW there is a great woman's health clinic in Rifle. read more

Worst example of doctor patient care: I just had appointment with Dr Hadley and she was so rude, condescending impatient, unprofessional and frankly a bully. Apparently scheduling only allotted me a 10 min appointment (somehow my fault I guess) which I had no clue about and put down that I wanted "labs" which I also had no clue about. Upon Dr Hadley's entry into the room she came out of the gate irritated blasting me because she " had to pick up her kids" and why did I request at 10 min appointment and why did I ask for "labs"???? I tried to explain I had nothing to do with the time allotted and no clue for the "labs" request as this is the first i was hearing about it. I apologized for any confusion and I tried explained I had asked for a follow up appointment after my urgent care visit because my blood pressure was through the roof and as a healthy person that was concerning for the doctor's in urgent care. I told Dr Hadley I had requested an appointment to establish care with a primary doctor. Well, Dr Hadley wasn't having it and started firing questions at me of which I couldn't answer fastest enough, she would talk over me before I could even finish the answer. At one point I said I was trying to answer but she was asking the next question before I could finish the last, she just scuffed at me. I could go on more terrible details but not appropriate in a public forum but suffice to say it's not ok to LAUGH at another doctor's diagnosis and treatment. No patient should be subjected to that kind of treatment. I remained as patience as I could only to be told I need to reschedule for a longer appointment and she actually just walked out. How about coming in the door and introducing oneself and saying hello and showing some kind of human decency. Obviously I was there because I was struggling with my health. I left doctors office worse then I came in...you never know what a person/patient is going through and to make a patient feel worse then when they came is absolutely not ok. Lastly, on top of everything else now I can't get another appointment for 45 days. With that, what choices do we have in the valley...we just have take the abuse??? Dr Hadley was extremely unprofessional and should be held accountable for her behavior and lack of professionalism and not bring her private life and or responsibility into the work place. P.S. scheduling is a completely different problem and actually is what caused part of this issue. If anyone is listening from Colorado Mountain Medical please feel free to contact me...I think these are teaching moments and some retraining is in order. read more

I had a visit the other day that just does not feel right. My partner and I asked a few people about their insights and overall were encouraged to let people know. Not too sure where to leave Doctor feedback, but this seems like an option. My regular provider is Dr. Bernstein, I've seen her for my regular wellness visits and now through my pregnancy. She is great, she gets that I am an analytical to the point person and she is a good fit for me. We were encouraged to meet with a couple other providers during our check in visits, just encase Bernstein is not available during our labor. We met with Dr. Samuels and I can see why so many people in the valley appreciate him as a doctor. It was our visit with Dr. Santa Maria the other day that is feeling off. I'm writing the review so that people know that CMM does have good OB providers, I just would not recommend her. The visit started with her fat shaming me, saying it looks like I ate too much during Thanksgiving. That is not ok to say to a person really struggling with the pregnancy weight gain, I am trying my best and am still in a healthy range. Also, my appointments have been in the morning after a light breakfast, this one was later in the day. Of course the scale will be higher after eating and drinking all day. Comments like that from a DOCTOR are not healthy and can lead women to partake in unhealthy practices to avoid the weight gain shaming of a doctor. It is fair if there are legitimate concerns from a medical prespective, but to say looks like you have been eating too much is just awful. If you are a couple that does not want to know the sex, don't go to her! We do know, but she said oops did I reveal the gender (not a big deal to us, but I can't imagine how that could feel for another couple). Next, I had some concerns about pregnancy related issues that have escalated to become very uncomfortable. Every relief measure out there says if pregnant consult a doctor. Well, I was consulting a doctor! I was just hoping to hear, "For some patients when this arises x, y,z tends to provide relief and are safe while pregnant." Instead she replied with that's just pregnancy at altitude and will all be worth it when the bundle of joy arrives. Well, the BABY is not here yet and my sinuses are killing, what saline sprays do you recommend!? (I was not given a recommendation on any of my concerns). This interaction did not sit right with my partner or me. My sister's said the weight comment was extremely out of line. When my partner went back to work, his co-workers asked who we saw, when he told them we met with Dr Santa Maria, they said she has a reputation of fat shaming pregnant women over size four and being rude to unwed mother's. His reaction; I think that just happened to us. I write this, just encase you had an appointment with Dr. Santa Maria that didn't feel right; you are not alone. And if you are looking for an OB provider at CMM I would not recommend her, there are plenty of other good choices. read more

Be careful about Covid testing billing practices by this Office. They are double billing and guilty of fraudulent billing practices. They will tell you one thing during the visit and then send you a surprise bill for hundreds of dollars. You have been warned!!! read more

They used to be great until Vail Health took over. We saw Dr. Dent today and he was the most dispassionate doctor we have ever seen. He treated my daughter like a specimen in a petri dish. He wouldn't answer any questions about the tests and medicines we were asking about, and he wouldn't even let us talk to share the history of what we had already tried and been told. I have never been ushered in and out of a doctor's office so quickly. It was the worst visit ever and I am probably going to leave CMM because of this incident, combined with all of the problems we have had trying to make an appointment and to get accurate information. Don't see Dr. Dent unless you are absolutely DYING. read more

Physicians and nurses are all professional, kind, and thorough. We use general and specialist doctors that work at CMM and 90% of our experiences have been great. Of course there have been times when we had some personality clash or we didn't sync with a physicians style, but there are many other great doctors to choose from so we just chose another doctor. Scheduling appointments is fairly convenient and wait times are generally minimal at about 10 minutes, with just an occasionally longer than wait, max 25 mins. My favorite physicians... Dr Cooper, Dr Bernstein, Dr Vickerman, & Dr Voytko. read more

While the vast majority of medical providers at CMM are fantastic, avoid Joe Drew and Dr Foutz at ALL COSTS. Both are exceptionally incompassionate, unethical and border on practicing procedures that most malpractice attorneys would chomp at the bit for. I have lived in the Vail Valley for 25yrs, Joe Drew has been here 3yrs and doesn't fit or get it. read more

Overall, I like Colorado mountain medical. It's not difficult to get an appointment, the billing office has always gone above and beyond helping with insurance claims, they are open Saturdays and the doctors I've seen are great at calling you back when you leave messages. The doctors here seem competent and their bedside manner great. My only complaint is, if you have a hesitation about whether they are open on a weekend, call first. I've showed up here on a day where they were apparently doing construction and the office was closed; there was no voicemail informing people of this random closure. read more

Down with the flu...they were able to get me in right away but of course I had to sit in the waiting room for a half hour It's always been like that here. But that's not why I'm writing the review. The reason is, the receptionist was rude - she interrupted me and other patients several times, and she was not friendly. I mean, why ask a question if you are going to interrupt with another question? And is it really so hard to say, "hello, may I help you?"???? Once in the patient room I had to wait another half hour for Dr. Cooper to come in. An hour total wait. Not fun when you are sick. read more

I made the appointment a month in advance have been incredibly sick like a dog. No flexibility no sympathy nothing. The worst. Have seen multiple physicians and not impressed with most. The female pediatrician is good and so is one of the female physicians assistants. The rest are pretty bad. Had some bloodwork done, noone followed up after. I called multiple times and was told it is probably fine if I didn't hear back...excuse me? Dr. didn't address my issues properly. Once I went in for a sleep issue to a different dr. and came out with 4 RX...a steroid??, Xanax and Ambien which are contraindicated and told by the Dr. he calls it Xambien and its fine (its not and can stop your heart) and another...needless to say I didn't feel comfortable with him and didnt use the 2 together. I was yelled at by another Dr for explaining my sleep problem and was told she doesn't get to the root of the problem but only treats the symptoms and she listed 4 or 5 ssri's and asked me which one I knew the most about and which one I'd like to try for sleep?? The list goes on and I am not trying to sound whiny...but these are some serious faults going on. read more

Waited a month and a half on a wellness check. Went in for the visit, talked to the Dr. for 5 minutes he said I needed blood pressure medication. There was supposed to be no charge for the visit because of obama care. They end up charging another visit along with the wellness check because somehow hypertension screening isnt considered preventitive. I get a bill for a 35$ copay. I go in to dispute this nonsense and the receptionist gets all snooty and says its not covered. You get these people are nothing but scam artist. You get screwed by obama care, you get screwd by your insurance provider, and then you get screwed by your idiot doctor. I've had several billing issues from this place. They're all incompetent halfwits, everyone that works there. And rude to boot. I wont be taking my family back there. They're all morons. read more

Told me they took my insurance, when I got there they said no but that I could mail it in to my insurance company and maybe get a refund of sorts. not cool. Now they don't want to refill my meds, wouldn't be so bad if they weren't meds that keep me sane and happy so I see that to be kind of stupid on a doctors part. I know it's a job, but are you really helping people by pulling their much needed meds? Every doctor I've had in Ohio was much easier to deal with.
