I'm beyond disappointed with Columbia credit union. I run a season business (a farm) and, while trying to finalize grant paperwork could not access my online account. I tried resetting my password, but never got an email. I called in, and they explained that, without any notification they closed my online account because I'm "not logging into it enough" and that I would have to goto a branch to get it re-enabled. I went to the scotton way branch, explained the situation and was told I have to "start all over" fill out paperwork and wait for corporate to eventually get me access again and that is would take at least 2 business days, but there's no guarantee. I asked if I could get a print out of my account activity for 2025 (needed for the grand paperwork) and was told I would've charged $5 a page!!! The whole reason people move from big banks to credit unions is to avoid this unfriendly, arbitrary policies that don't do anything but inconvenience and fleece their customers. Again, the whole point of moving my personal and businesses accounts to a credit union was to have a real person who helps me.. not a totally unempowered robot to try to extort more money from me based on a policy I was never informed about, and a deactivation I was left to discover when I actually needed access... fix this! read more

DONT GET A CAR LOAN THROUGH THEM. I came back with a new car to have my loan through them and it's been nothing but ongoing issues with my insurance. I didn't have this issue with my prior car/loan with them and it's not been fixed. I was told 6mo ago this wouldn't be an issue and yet here we are. It's impossible to get an issue resolved with them sooner than later. Takes 2 weeks or more to sort issues out. Everything about dealing with them has been a headache. I've had maybe 1 helpful person who went above and beyond via email with me to get things sorted, and he was so nice. But it seems as though this will be an ongoing problem. Myself and my insurance agent have both sent in copies of my declaration page with all the info needed yet they either "never got it" or I can't get a response from someone. We shouldn't have to re send the same document over and over again. It's simple yet has become a mess. My insurance guy has never had an issue like this with a lender either. I'm more than likely taking my business somewhere else since this has yet to be resolved. read more

If I could give this company no stars I would. Where do I start.... I started financing my car through this company January of 2016, they did not get an online payments center until about 5 months into my loan so I was having to pay over the phone or send in check which are both kind of sketchy options if you ask me. Once they got the web payment cent I thought all my problems would go away. NOPE! I created a login and password which was super easy and made my payment with only a $10 processing charge which I think is fair. one month goes by time for another payment! Put in my login credentials and guess what!?!? MY ACCOUNT HAD BEEN DEACTIVATED FOR NOT USING IT IN 30 DAYS!!!! So I make another account and make the payment.... 30 days pass..... ACCOUNT DEACTIVATED FOR INACTIVITY FOR 30 DAYS!!! CREATED ANOTHER FREAKING ACCOUNT AND MADE THE PAYMENT!!!!! 30 more days go by and the same thing happens!!!!!! I've had my car almost 2 years now and I have had to make roughly 24 NEW FREAKING ACCOUNTS EVERY MONTH.. this month was different... made new account credentials and login and it says... "you may not use this account to make a payment due to the fact you have NEVER made an online payment before"........ WTF!?!?!? So I call the number to see if this is something that can be resolved, the super unhelpful lady on the phone said it is impossible to make an account in my name since I am the "co-signer" (mind you this car is in my name..) so I tell her no it's not impossible unless you have never received my payments for the past 2 freaking years... then she suggest I send a check... I live in AZ... they're in WA... I don't trust you. Then she says she will take a payment over the phone for a convenient processing charge of $25!!!! This place can honestly kiss my ass. DO NOT FINANCE YOUR CAR THROUGH CCU, you will rip your hair out!!! Oh forgot to mention that they had the wrong address and phone number for me and just found this out November of 2017 after I MENTIONED TO THEM that I had never received any calls or statements from them via mail..... DONT WASTE YOUR TIME YOU WILL REGRET EVERYTHING. Will be refinancing my vehicle through a different bank January of 2018. read more

NOT the place to go if you want a debit card. The "fraud prevention" on their debit cards is just ridiculous. Buy something online? You'll be turned down, even after receiving an automated phone call from "fraud protection" and acknowledging that the charge is legitimate. Going on vacation? Your debit card will be turned down. You're not using the card in your hometown, so it must be fraud, right? I once bought a computer online, and the card was turned down. I had to have the computer company call CCU in a 3-way call in order to get it cleared up. This caused the computer company to submit the charge three times, causing an overdraft, even with CCU's incompetent CS agent on the phone the whole time. CCU refused to refund the charges. When I complained about the overzealous "fraud protection" that caused the whole mess, I was told that it was for my protection. Nope. Federal law states that the customer/victim can only be charged $50 no matter the size of the fraud. It's for CCU's protection, not yours. Avoid this credit union and its horrible customer service, and under NO circumstances should you accept a debit card from them. read more

Made a CASH deposit into an ATM and it took over a WEEK to post! When I contacted the bank five days later regarding my deposit I was treated rudely and dismissed. All my deposit funds were drained for a "non use" fee after I started banking elsewhere. AVOID! read more

I love Columbia Credit Union and have been a member for 16 years. You REALLY need to improve the process involved when selling a vehicle you have financed. I have had 8+ auto loans with you plan on taking my loan business elsewhere due to how difficult it is to get the title to the buyer. read more

Absolutely worthless customer service, all i can ever get unless it is first thing in the morning is a voice mail box, and no 24 hr service, only an after hours voicemail service that did not always return my calls. No online or other sort of bill pay (say if you have a car loan with them) unless you open an account with them, even when not local. So all payments had to be sent by mail, which they do not receive and process in a timely manner Also found that their loan tracking is bogus and they won't take responsibility for their inaccuracies or actions. Have had to go out of my way to make sure loan payments were able to get to them by mail, have even had checks stolen but this did not matter even when communicated to the bank. Since day one of my car loan with them I have had nothing but issues and horrible customer service. read more

On February 11th 2020 we closed on our auto loan refinance with Columbia Credit Union. At the time everything seemed to go well. We received a phone call from the previous lender that the payment was not received. When we contacted the credit union to resolve the issue. We were told that this could take up to 90 days to get resolved. They would not be able to cancel and redraw a check till we hit 90 days. We are now having to make 2 separate car payments to avoid an impact on our credit. We explained to the manager that we are a week away from closing on the purchase of our home and we needed a resolution ASAP as we can not move forward until this situation is resolved. The manager apologized for the inconvenience but proceeded to go over their policy which stated they won't do anything about it for 90 days. I have spent a week trying to get this fixed. Spent quite a while on hold and on the phone for a refinance that was completed a month ago. I will never again do business with Columbia Credit union. I am a mortgage broker and have referred clients to Columbia Credit Union when they needed to refinance their vehicles. I will no longer be referring clientS and instead will let my customers know of the horrible experience that I have had with this credit union. read more

this is the worst phone system to work with call a specific person to talk on the weekend about a loan at the washougal branch and you can not get the phone number there. keeps referring you back to the main branch and cant talk to anybody at 10:15 am and no number in white pages. read more
