That said, of course, if it was overly littered or more weedy than grassy--I suppose I'd have to go lower in stars. Fortunately, that is not the case for Fairview Park. Fairview Park is a neighborhood park on the corner of 23rd and Idaho Streets that, while small, is none-the-less full of amenities. There's a playground for the wee ones as well as those a little less wee (you know--the 6-12 set). They have a couple full sized basketball courts as well as 2 tennis courts. There's picnic tables (no covered picnic area), plenty of benches, and restrooms (though--it should be noted they're closed in winter). Another note--probably not the best park for larger gatherings as the only parking is on street. Also, not the best place for sports or kite flying as there's a fair amount of trees dispersed throughout the park that would get in the way. The up side? Plenty of shade on a hot day. Get to it!

We were one of the first three original model homes for the Champion Park subdivision and 12 years later, we're still here. The park has really matured from the time it was simply a dirt rectangle. First came the saplings and then the grass. Shortly thereafter, a playground was installed. Later, fencing around the peripheral of the park closed the park to the backyards of the many home owners. The basketball court and picnic shelter came in and lastly the doggie bag holders and multiple trash receptacles completed the parks accessories. I never thought about checking into my park. I naturally assumed someone had a created a Yelp listing for it but that was not the case. So one early morning Saturday, I went to check into my park and it wasn't found on Yelp. I decided take action and give Champion Park it's Champion due. It's a great park that's home to any number of dog walkers and folks who simply want a stroll. The berms and grass is politely manicured and everyone who takes care of the park does so with such care. A couple of reminders. Park is open from dawn to dusk. Once the sun goes down, park is closed No Smoking on the park grounds. I wish this was enforced a little more Dogs have to be on a leash and you have to pick up after your pooch. Again this needs to be enforced more as well Lastly in the NE corner of the park is a irrigation pond, please do not let your kiddos and your dogs go swimming in there. It's really not clean. Oh by the way don't throw rocks into the pond or near the wildlife. Take a championship stroll through Champion Park. You'll feel like you won the Super Bowl.

Baggley Park is a nice little neighborhood park that holds a special place in my heart. I mention this because the parking lot here at Baggley Park has a spot at the far left corner that is on a slope- making it easy for elderly dogs to get out of the car without being "airlifted". Along with being senior dog-approved with both a concrete loop path around the park, a large open grassy area, and ample trash cans around; it's also great for humans with a tennis court, basketball court, sand volleyball, and playground. There is also an entrance to the Boise River Greenbelt in the neighborhood of this park. There are 2 handicap stalls right at the start, but other than that there are no other parking spots- so it's best to park at Baggely and walk over to the Greenbelt from there. There are a few local grocery stores and spots to pick up food really close making Baggley Park a great spot to picnic as well.

I decided to walk from the hospital down to 8th st. to grab a coffee. With it being so beautiful out, I took the opportunity to enjoy the morning. I grabbed my coffee and went to go peep out this park. The park is simple, small and beautiful. The grass is lush, the flowers are vibrant and the vibe is calm. I walked around to check everything out. For it being downtown and all the cars that are buzzing by, it truly was relaxing. I was able to chill at a picnic table for a bit. I sipped on my coffee and absorbed mother nature. The sun hitting just right. The light coming through the tree branches. And the wind gently hitting your face. It was truly a beautiful moment. With the Capital looking all majestic in the background, it's hard not to appreciate how stunning this park is. I adore living in our little city. And I adore how maintained and magical this small park is. I'm happy I got to stop and smell the roses at the park today. Life takes over sometimes but it's so important to stop once in a while to enjoy it. You might miss gorgeous opportunities like the one I had today.

He also served as US Secretary of the Interior from 1977 to 1981 under President Jimmy Carter. Andrus was known as a strong conservationist and held strong environmental views. During this second stint as governor, Andrus vigorously opposed federal efforts to store nuclear waste in Idaho. Other than the beautifully smooth concrete paths, lovely shade trees, and bright green grass, the park has a number of captions that detail the life and history of Governor Andrus. Boise State students--you have it so good when it comes to a recreation center!…read more All the things: Indoor track, volleyball courts, basketball courts, free weights, weight machines, stretching areas, cardio equipment, various classes throughout the week, an indoor climbing gym, and pool/hot tub! You have practically everything that your heart could wish for in this work out facility. My favorite part: While I'm a fan of all the offerings that this facility has, my favorite is the climbing wall! All you have to do is take their intro to belay/bouldering skills class and then you can use the wall (when it's open) for the semester. I had never climbed prior to coming here, and they made it a fun/exciting/not intimidating process to learn. They have shoes that you can rent (this costs a few dollars) and harnesses (free)! The climbing gym also has several different courses varying in difficulty, so whether you are a newbie or an expert, you'll have a fun yet challenging time! Cost: If you are a full-time student, the cost for the rec center is included in your tuition...score. And if you want to continue your membership after graduating, their prices for alumni are compararble to other gyms in the area (about $29/month).

The family/special need bathroom/changing room was a bit smaller for a family, I thought. And it was quite far from the actual pool, but certainly not a deal breaker for me. However, those group exercise classes tipped the scale in YMCA's favor. They have group classes almost every hour from 5 am to 8ish pm! And they have my favorite class of all time, Body Pump! Those classes really get your muscles working. They also have aquatics classes (i.e. arobics), pilates, cycling, almost anything you can imagine. I don't have kids, but the amount of kid classes, activities, daycare, care while you are working out etc. is phenomenal. And it believe its like $12/month extra for them to take care of your kids for up to 2 hours while you are working out. That is nothing!! Amazing! Anyways, I am a huge YMCA fan, if you couldn't tell.
