Gym is not crowded, each time I was there , there might have only been 2-3 other people max. Service is friendly and accommodating. We got a weekend pass as out of state visitors. Pro tip: register on a weekday, since weekends may not have a front desk person to assist Recommendations : 1) test out your access after registration. Make sure to test with door locked to avoid possible subsequent issues 2) bathroom stall was out of toilet paper, so hopefully some more can be stocked up. Overall, would definitely return to visit the facility if I'm back in the area. Keep up the great work.

Boise is my hometown and I come back here to visit every year, but I spend so much time jumping between gym looking for the equipment I need depending on what I'm training that day. The moment I walked in and saw the equipment they had to offer, I knew I was home. They have everything you need to take a true holistic approach to fitness. The moment I walked in I was greeted by the welcoming staff and shown around. Unlike most places I've been around here where the front desk employee kinda looks at you weird like they're wondering why you're bothering them with your presence. All in all, Jack City is an uplifting environment with a welcoming community and unparalleled fitness resources that makes me miss it and wish I had a place like this to train at when I'm gone. And plus, they're one of the only place I've ever seen with kettlebells that go over 50 pounds. Thank you for having me, JFC

Me and my three girlfriends were staying at the hotel for the weekend coming from out of state, and…read morewe chose the hotel partly because of the attached spa. It was difficult to schedule four services at the same time, but they were able to accommodate a facial and massage at the same time, and then two more massages right after. We thought our services were fine; my girlfriend had a prenatal massage and said her therapist talked the whole time which she thought was distracting, but I had the same therapist right after and we didn't chat at all. I know therapists usually go off the energy of the client that they're working with, so I think she was probably being polite and the therapist might have considered it being open for more conversation. Anyway, like I said, we did enjoy our services. We were hoping for a group discount, but instead they treated us each to a glass of wine, which we appreciated. We didn't use any of the gym or pool facilities, nor the locker room. The gym equipment seemed fine. There were quite a few people in the gym. We didn't see anyone using the pool, but there were people using the hot tub, sauna, and steam room. I would say that clientele leans more male, and the pool/hot tub/sauna/steam room are co-ed, so take that into consideration if you visit.

I wanted to an update after another 6 months of membership. I've been a member here off and on for…read moreyears. A few general comments: - The smaller size and location of the gym are positives in my view. If you need to drive and park, though, it's rough. They have parking through the hotel, but it's time limited and the garage gets full and unusable if there are lots of hotel guests or events. - The locker rooms are tiny, barely kept up (broken hooks, and doors, towels strewn about), showers are sort of just a mess (it's one big open space mostly). Also, on the mens restroom, the urinal continues to almost flood daily as it's been kind of clogged forever. You can use it, but don't flush it.. - Cardio machines are ok -- getting on the older side but work well usually Some frustrations continue to include: - They lease out the pool to external swim lessons, so there are large swaths of the day where the pool is basically unusable and kids are running around, screaming, parents are everywhere -- it's a mes - It's also the hotel pool and gym, so between that, swim lessons and normal members, it's a dirty pool if we are being honest. I used to swim here, but I've run into so many gross hairs and "things" underwater that I just can't do it anymore. - It feels like ownership has gotten a little excited post pandemic and membership growth has REALLY taken off the last few months. It's really noticeable and at peak times (4pm-7pm) it's almost impossible to get a weight workout in without massive frustrations. There's simply no space. There's one single real squat rack (the other is a smith machine type thing), a couple benches, one normal bench press ... you'll end up nearly bumping into people just trying to pick up dumbbells. - There also seem to be some third party kettle bell trainers running private training in the gym, which further takes up space and seems to always ALSO be at peak times. - During peak times -- FORGET about trying to even get changed in the locker room. It becomes like trying to change in an aircraft lavatory. - I don't know if they plan to cap memberships, but I worry they won't (like all gyms, they just love the money coming in) ... and it's now teetering on not being a usable gym option just because it's so uniquely small in terms of Sq/Ft. It just doesn't handle the extra people well. - For now I continue to go and mostly enjoy it but only because I have schedule flexibility. If I were forced to only go at after work times, it'd be a tough sell honestly. 4/5 for now -- but it's getting too crowded really quickly

The jacuzzi is often lukewarm instead of hot, & is in desperate need of resurfacing. It is tucked back in such a way as to allow for back door access to the back lot for Prowler runs, farmer's walks and tire flipping. Owned by local natural bodybuilders and powerlifters, Eric and Kacee Cafferty, the locals all have a sense of ownership and familial bonding after only one visit to this gym. Go in without your headphones on and you'll see what we mean. Everyone is friendly, willing to help, coach, co-train and chat about pretty much anything. We saw a 130# gossipy female (very entertaining) trying to pr her squat with a 210# beefcake mainstay of the club. All of the equipment is top-of-the-line and the Cafferty's own several unique pieces we have not seen anywhere in the Treasure Valley. These include a Nautilus pec-deck straight from Venice Beach, a Roger's squat (if you haven't worked your ass-quads-core in this remarkable piece of equipment, a visit to The Mecca Gym is worth it just for that.) and a seal row bench. The powerlifting staples are of the best quality we've seen in the entire state and if you are trying to just work on your Big 3, this is your gym. Cardio equipment consists of a row of treadmills and a step mill. They also own a Jacob's Ladder, which is great. The step mill has no platform for a phone or iPad to watch a movie so that's disappointing. The staff is all sincerely friendly with welcome greetings, big furry smiles and surprisingly, the females don't annoy us with their friendly chatter. The "Mecca Family" (meaning the members) are always available to help spot you, inform you or give you a tip on how to hit that little-know muscle group or to share a new delicious recipe. The reason we gave The Mecca gym only 4 of 5 stars is that it also offers tanning and childcare-neither of which are note-worthy or worth it. The child care room is always unmanned and you have to ask a staff member to hang out with your kids. This would be fine for older children, but if you have a little one, training over an hour gets you feeling guilty as there are RARELY any kids to play with here. They do have a tv and the kids can watch movies or play with the plethora of trucks, baby toys or a toy kitchen. Also, there is really no set limit on the childcare hours like at other facilities so you could come with the kids at 3 am and train until noon if you so chose. Also, you could let your kids hang out with you on the floor as long as they are well-behaved. This is something you really don't see. The tanning bed was used by us twice in a row and not a drop of color after 15 minutes which tells us that the bulbs must need changing. All-in-all, this is decidedly FABULOUS gym and we could train here for hours!

They're so anxious to help and support women and you can tel they genuinely love what they do! I've appreciated that all 3 of these teachers have shared modifications for allowing guests to go at either an easier or harder pace, depending on their varying needs. My favorite part of the group classes has been that the workout room has positive affirmations and mantras posted on the walls that are so encouraging and lifting.
