Whet a great library. I come so often the staff recognize my kiddos from age 1 and up which is nice it means they have a lower turnover and or some great employees who want to stay and work here forever. They're always super nice and have taught me how to find books and for kiddos always have the best suggestions. We love story time here they have them in English and Spanish! It's a great community library and always have fun activities when kids are out school and they get so creative with them too. We make this a weekly to monthly visit during the cold time year plus we love the park though it gets super busy! read more

I am a fan of Jefferson County libraries in general but have a soft spot for Columbine because it is a short drive from my house. The view of Clement Park and the lake through the large windows is also stunning! They have a huge selection of books for all ages. I also highly recommend their ebooks (through Overdrive) and audiobooks (through Hoopla). If you live in Jefferson County, there's really no excuse not to get a library card and avail yourself of their services. read more

This place is really nice. I made complaint about a man who was talking loudly and not respecting others. He kept saying rude things to people and the manager just let it slide. I don't want to be the person who says library's MUST BE QUIET, but when someone is being loud and has had three people not be happy, maybe ask them to keep it down. Again, great place but they can't let things slide because of someone they know. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. Staff was rude. When asked for help nobody cared when we were new and didn't know what to do.

I have no complaints about the staff here, who are helpful and courteous, but I do have two concerns. One is the space in this building. There are very few tables at which to sit and not many study rooms, either. And it's busy there. The second is that I learned, while attending the Jeffco Library District's "Whale of a Sale" used book sale, that the library might throw books away. There was a person making announcements there for the district and she said that it's important for people to buy books and media so that they don't end up in the landfill. It's very disappointing that a library district would discard books, LPs, CDs, etc. Knowledge matters and there are always people who would be interested in those things. Plus, Jeffco Library District apparently has a warehouse in Wheat Ridge where stuff that doesn't fit on shelves can be stored. Of course, I wish that the Jeffco libraries had fewer romance novels and the like in their buildings and more substantive materials, but I get that they are trying to satisfy a diverse public. Still, that's no excuse to throw away items in perfectly good condition, or even to pull them off the shelves as rapidly as they seem to do. read more

In case you can't tell from all my check-ins, I've recently become a library addict. I don't know why it took me so long to get over my addiction of buying a new book ever time I'm at the airport, but I think I've finally succeeded! I don't usually spend much time at the library itself - I tend to use the website to put things on hold because most of the stuff I want to read is never on the shelf anyways. I've also been checking out a ton of music - it's the best way to figure out which songs I like without committing to purchasing an entire album! On a few occasions though, I've wandered through the music and found a few things to check out that I never would have thought to check out before. The check-out system is really easy, especially with the holds. Just find your items on the hold shelf with your name on the tag, scan your card at a checkout line, put your items on the glass, and voila - you're done! I did somehow managed to get hosed on a recent check-out. I had a CD on hold and never got the notification that it was ready for pick-up. I happened to be at the library picking up other items, and supposedly I checked out this particular CD too. I never had it but the system still showed it checked out to me. Sucks, but I went ahead and paid the fee to replace the album. I've been getting the most of my library privileges so I don't mind paying a little bit of $$! read more

This is a great library that has extensive selection despite its smallish size. I have always been able to find something of interest here and they seem to do a great job of presenting books for reading based on an ever-changing theme of items of that are "it" topics. Despite being a place for kids I have always been impressed with the serene atmosphere of the library despite there being plenty of young kids in the library. And it looks out over a small lake and you can see birds and the mountain and it is a very relaxing atmosphere. read more

A fantastic library. It was so nice we went there a few times on our 9 day vacation. Our 4 year loved it as there are computers and an area for other like aged kids to be creative and play together. The people are friendly and there is plenty of comfortable seating. read more

This is our local library and we come 1-2x a week for a story time or two. The person whose done the last few we've attended is phenomenal. I believe her name is Christine. She is soooo patient with the children. She emphasizes learning even with behavior that is portrayed by a little guest that may not be "appropriate" I.e climbing. She takes time to gently redirect children or even stop for a moment and access and fix any potential safety hazards. (She folded the easel and laid it against the wall safely to prevent a curios toddler from injury today). She takes the time to get to know the kids and parents by name. read more

I popped in the other day to print off my resume. The wonderful librarians not only helped me translate the document from my Mac to a PC they walked me through the whole process of using their new printers. Incredibly helpful and so polite! The childrens' area has a large area to sit, play, read, with great murals on the wall. They host monthly art displays from local schools and other artists. They are great with class field trips. They have about 10 computers for catalog and internet/database searches. The Jeffco Library System has great databases available. We go here as a class to get ready for a research project. Then we walk to Gunther Toody's (part way around the Lake) and walk the rest of the way around to get back. Also nearby is a Clement Park and the Columbine Memorial. read more

I love the library! Jefferson Co. is no exception. I needed books to write a final paper for one of my classes and signed up for a library card beforehand. I found the ladies that work there very helpful and sweet and also excited to know that they helped me find some books for research. I love how quiet it is and also the self checkout. First off, they had Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows audio CDs "on shelf." Bonus! Decent parking, and I love that it's located within Clement Park so an excursion across the park or into the tennis courts is easy if that's your motivation. But my favorite part was the fact that the children's play/reading area is within sight of the catalog computers. Easy for mom (me) to browse for my own titles while the tots play & read within my sight. The staff was also very helpful when I hit a snag finding a book. Thumbs up! I'll always love actually holding a book and turning the pages (vs. electronic reading), so the library gets mad props from me. read more

I have always had a soft spot for this library for going on 20 years now. Well-organized, clean, quiet, with some of the best staff of any library anywhere. I miss the days of sitting in a comfy chair for hours at a time, just reading and letting time slip by as I got lost in a book. Let me start off by saying that I really want to like this library. Yet, every time I visit Columbine, I leave frustrated and disappointed. Here is the truth: This isn't a library, It's a giant DAYCARE CENTER. I patronize several libraries in SW Denver, including Englewood and Littleton. Unfortunately, Columbine is the loudest and most disruptive... hands down! There isn't even a close second. This is a place where suburban parents can let their toddler(s) run wild with absolute impunity. Most don't even pretend to care whether or not their children behave or respect others. I don't require a mausoleum. And I understand that kids make noise. However, I do expect parents to exercise SOME amount of control over their children. Honestly? They should get rid of the books and put in playground equipment. This would more accurately serve the needs of Columbine's preferred patrons. I am giving this library 2 stars because of it's excellent selection of books and movies. read more

This library is for community to gather not a quiet place to read or study. It's disappointing.

The library has been remodeled so I was excited for a peek. Underwhelmed is how I felt. It seems most the books are gone now. In their place is what appears to be remnants of an old blockbuster. Many movies and audio type selections. The Children's section is now it's own room in the front of the library which is nice because it opens up windows for adults to sit by and enjoy the view. Several computer desks are now available, but it feels like it's after an apocalypse and all the books have been burned. 2nd and Charles has a wider and more diverse selection of reading material (although you would have to buy it). Soon libraries will no longer contain books I suppose, what a sad realty to face. The adult book section is about 1/8 of what it used to be read more

If I could give this library 10 stars, I would! This place is my quiet place away from home. I love how welcoming that staff is, to both myself and my daughter. My daughter has always felt comfortable and confident approaching the staff to ask for help, which is not the case wtfb everywhere. My daughter doesn't love to read like I do, but she's always excited when I tell her that we're heading here. That's a huge win considering books are less than exciting to her. She always walks away with a gem which keeps encouraging her to read SOMETHING. I, myself, love the new remodel, the ability to sit and read with a view of the lake! You're doing everything right. Overall this library is ok. Not the largest book selection yet a huge floor plan. My complaint is the overwhelming smell of MOLD/MILDEW as soon as you enter this place! Does anyone else seem to notice this at all? I was exposed to mold previously and now detoxing from the toxic mold damage to my body. So I know how very serious this is and especially since families with small children go here too. So I just request books, run in to pick them up and head back on out. So sad since they just did this nice remodel. read more

The Library...This year I have rediscovered the library and its convenient on line options of requesting books, movies, books on CD....all from the comfort of my home computer. When my requests come in I just make a quick stop to pick them up. The library staff is very friendly and helpful if I need help. Also, there are few problems with lines of people at the checkout now that you can self check out at multiple electronic checkout stations. Yeah!!!! read more

Been going to this library for ages and must say all the new updates and changes have been nothing less than fantastic! The new hours makes it much easier and convenient for busy families. There is always something going on at this library and though well stocked, because it is busy, things fly off the shelf fast! I am currently a college student. I have been taking online classes this summer. Like many people I am not very good at staying focused at home and I don't want to have to spend money to study at a coffee shop. So naturally, I look to a public library, while the library itself was just redone and looks very nice it is not the place to get quiet studying done. They have reservable study room but are not usually open for very long. There seems to many great programs going on here and is a great place for a community gathering but it is far from quiet. Also, it is rather difficult to find a good spot to study. For families with small children this would likely be a great place to go. read more

I came here for the kids area and it was okay. I wish they had a few more toys for the kids and lounge sitting. They have plenty of desks, but maybe some more couches? Those desk aren't that comfortable. They have a great selection of books and plenty of computers. The staff is wonderful! read more

I love love love this library. It is awesome and has a great kids section! They also have free kid activity and art projects on weekends.

My local library and really overall a comfortable place to enjoy the community. Book selection is off the charts and those librarians are so darn nice and helpful. I always bring my nephew for storytime and he absolutely loves it. read more
