This is our home library branch, which we frequent often -- pre-pandemic 2-3 times a week and…read morepost-pandemic about once every couple of weeks depending on life. My toddler loves the Storytime and Tots Tunes classes, and it's so nice to have some structured "class" time for the littles. It's also nice that they follow each class with play time so the mamas can have some time as well! The calendar of classes and events is posted online and now they allow online registration for their more popular classes that tend to fill up quickly. So much nicer than driving over only to find out there's no more room in a class! The children's library area is nice that it's separate, but could definitely use some updating and improvement. There's a staff desk that no one ever sits at on one side, and on the other side is a little area that they set up for play. Pre-pandemic there were a bunch of toys for the kids which have since been removed. There's also a huge hot air balloon in that area, but it is also just taking space as there are signs not to touch it or sit in it. Staff is nice and helpful at this location, and the building is very bright with lots of windows.

Here at the Aurora Library, there's plenty of parking in the lot. Signing up for a card was quick and easy. All I had to do was show my CO ID and a piece of mail with my name and current address to show that I was from Colorado. When visiting for the 1st time it may seem closed or under construction because of all the chain link fences. This is simply not so. The fences are there for the Police station sharing the other side of the building. Speaking of Fences , it's a beautifully written piece by August Wilson. One of my favorite authors. The history on how he wrote was so interesting to me when I was in College and took African American Literature studies. I recommend that title. The Library attendants are very helpful and will guide you to any section you might be looking for and they are very knowledgeable. I enjoyed that they were engaging and not passive. They have movies to check out too , some DVDs some BluRays. They have current titles which is great. They have music and audio cds to check out as well. I have been adding a few to my music library. However, the music is a bit outdated. Currently (Spring 2021) magazines cannot be checked out. There is a great perk of being a member of the library right now where they have curbside assistance. Sometimes they give away books, music , audio books and I got a great one that happened to be in my interest. That was cool, and I'll be back to this library for sure.

I place quite a few books on hold every month and Virginia Village always has them ready for me quickly. I have seen the staff help young children navigate the library and get them comfortable and excited with using the library; help older patrons who are not computer savvy; work with unemployed people who requested resume help, and on and on. Also, let it be said, some of the patrons here at the library have shown they can be very trying with both their demands and their conduct yet the staff unfailingly maintains a professional and courteous manner. One thing to take advantage of are the staff recommendations for books and movies. I have read some fantastic books thanks to this recommendation resource. One other virtue this library has is lots of parking, easy entrance/exit to the library and very pleasing grounds. This is a great little DPL branch library and I recommend it. This library is within walking distance from other governmental buildings and the History museum, so you can just park your car in one of the parking lots and do everything in a short amount of travel in between them. This is the cutest, tiniest littlest library I've ever been in & I loved it! The library is quaint…read morewith lots of charm & plenty of light from the big windows that overlook an outdoor space. It used to be the Columbia Heights Elementary School (1925-1978). Note, this library is closed on Fridays. We were immediately greeted by the friendly & helpful staff as we entered. One employee asked if he could be of assistance & he escorted us to the kids area. We were there to check out the toddler books & activities. He explained thoroughly the books as well as the toys & activities. We were the only people in that area & my granddaughter had a great time looking at the books & playing with the toys. We plan on returning on Tuesdays for the Toddler Time, "Let's Dance" session.
