I came in for a consultation. I understood that the cost for the consult and bloodwork was $99.00. They drew blood to determine my eligibility for treatment. I was told that they did labs in house. The staff was courteous and professional and I was told what my testosterone level was during my consultation. The treatment center's only option for participation/treatment for testosterone replacement therapy was to agree to a two or three year obligation. The cost of the two year is $3,000.00 to be paid up front. Objectively, this is a fair price if ongoing lab work and consultations are included. However, as I am going to be moving out of the country in a few months the upfront billing method did not make sense. I paid my $99.00 fee and left. However, it was my assumption that lab work was done as three vials of blood were taken and I was told what my testosterone levels were at the time. Lab work for testosterone replacement therapy goes beyond just checking the testosterone level as other factors play into treatment. I decided to retain an online provider. They require lab work before prescribing. I called the Columbus Men's Clinic for a copy of my bloodwork and they informed me that because I did not "sign up" that data was not available to me. So either the labwork was not done... and they still solicited me as a patient (questionable both from a business and ethical standpoint). Or, the lab work was done, and because I did not provide the $3,000.00 fee for service, the information is being withheld. Bottom line, I believe the business should be more transparent about pricing and conduct a thorough examination of a prospective patient before soliciting a treatment contract. read more
