If I could give 0 stars I would. I took my dog here for a regular check up nothing serious and it…read morewas fine, seemed like a good caring vet hospital. My bestfriend had an emergency with her dog and we brought him in, the staff is VERY money hungry and that's all they cared about, very inconsiderate and non empathetic, we asked for updates on how the dog was doing if he was alive or if he was going to die and they refused to update us and hounded for payment we told them we were working as hard as we could to get care credit, they still were insisting on payment and they said since we couldn't get approved for care credit and they refused to wait until literally the next day when we could cash our check , that they gave us the dog and put us in a room and sat there and watched him die over money. It's very disgusting and sickening the greed this place has, I have NO CLUE how any of these people sleep at night. Update: the owners response says everything! They can definitely have their own opinion but there's no "inaccuracies" in my review that's MY experience and my opinion of your business and how me and my friend were treated during a horrible time when we lost a member of our family, our animals are family to us. The woman who was in and out of the room with the brown hair and glasses was very rude and VERY inconsiderate considering the situation. So the owner commenting back when he was no where in sight is CRAZY , goes to show they all enable eachother to act this way towards people who are scared and their pet is dying. I don't sugar coat my reviews I tell the truth of what happened and how things are handled somewhere I'm not a Karen and I don't really leave reviews unless it's something crazy and other people need to be warned.

My cat Finley was having some very concerning symptoms that warranted an emergency vet visit, and…read morehonestly based on the reviews for VCA valley I was hesitant.... but he was in no shape to wait for any kind of drive to a further veterinarian so VCA valley it was. Despite my apprehensions we had such a lovely experience from start to finish. One of the main critiques of VCA is the price, and yes it was expensive, but honestly for the convenience it really wasn't bad. $350 deposit to be seen immediately, but after that all of the medical personnel were very friendly and accommodating to our budget, they didn't attempt to push tests and were very apparent about costs. They even gave us tips to save money (ie buying Pepcid from the pharmacy instead of buying directly from them) Overall a positive experience, and my baby boy is home happy which is all that matters

I had to bring my cat Zack in on a Saturday night before Easter after finding him covered in blood…read moreand urine. Every other clinic was closed, and VCA Valley Oak told me to come in right away. That decision saved his life. Zack has some unique medical challenges, and I knew going in this might not be straightforward. Dr. Wilson took the time to fully assess him, consulted with UC Davis, and came back with a clear, workable plan while still giving me options. I never felt rushed or pushed in one direction. The entire team was incredible. They encouraged me to visit, kept me updated morning and night, and I always knew how Zack was doing. I could tell he was being cared for not just medically, but emotionally. He's a very social cat, and it meant a lot to know he wasn't alone back there. What stood out most to me was how much everyone genuinely cared about him. One of the staff at the front desk told me she wished she could just go back and cuddle him all day, and when I spoke with one of the doctors later, she mentioned that people had been asking about him and wanted to know how he was doing. That meant more to me than I can say. Emergency vet care is expensive and stressful, and I know that's where a lot of negative reviews come from. But in my experience, this team was compassionate, skilled, and deeply invested in my cat's outcome. Zack is home now, recovering and very much himself again. I'm incredibly grateful to Dr. Wilson and the entire team.

Roughly 3 months ago, I told one of the girls at the front counter, that she looked like a certain…read moreactress and I showed her a picture of the actress. She said yes, she can see the resemblance and that was the end of it. The next month, I picked up insulin for my dog without any issues and again the month after that, I picked up insulin for my dog, yet again without any issues. Then a few days ago, I called in his prescription and they said, that they would fill it. It was his last refill, before needing blood work done again. Then just 2 days ago, I received a voicemail, while I was asleep, saying that I am no longer a serviceable client, due to an incident in their office. If they are referring to the conversation that took place 3 months ago, it wasn't an incident, it was a conversation and if that's what they are referring to, why is it now an incident, 3 months after the fact? Regardless of their reasons, if they don't want me as a client, that's fine, but don't let my dog suffer without insulin, over a 3 month old complaint. They are the only Vet, that had my dog's records and therefore, it would cost me hundreds of dollars, just to have him seen at another Vet and to have a Blood Glucose Curve done. No new Vet, will just give you insulin for your dog, without an initial screening and without a Blood Glucose Curve. I work long hours and 6 days a week right now, so scrambling to find a Vet, that would see my dog in the next day or two, was gonna be a challenge and that's not even considering the monetary aspect of it. I had to come up with a few hundred dollars and find a Vet that would see him immediately, just to get his insulin, which he hasn't had in 2 days. I still had 1 refill for my dog, so I suggested that I pay over the phone and send a friend in, to pick it up, but they refused to release, his last refill. Diabetic dogs shouldn't go more than 2-3 days without insulin, as it could cause life threatening issues. So whatever the issue was, which wasn't bad at all, they blew it out of proportion and they were willing to let my dog die, all because they took the word of one of their staff members and didn't even hear my side of it. Professionally, they should have let me know, what the complaint was and allowed me to share my side of it. I am only guessing, that it was the conversation that took place 3 months ago. I was able to round up enough money and I found a Vet that would see him today, so I took him to the new Vet and paid for the initial visit and a bottle of insulin for my dog. They scheduled an appointment 2 weeks out, to do a Blood Glucose Curve for him, but they gave me a bottle of insulin anyways, to save my dog's life. Whatever the incident was, I can assure you, it wasn't inappropriate, or sexual in nature. Even if she felt uncomfortable about it, why complain about it 3 months later? Why choose to not treat my dog, over something that I may, or may not have said, without hearing my side of it? I still don't even know what's it's about. Either way, they were gonna let my dog die, because if I wasn't able to come up with the money, or find a Vet that would see him immediately, he would have continued to go without his insulin. Not wanting me as a client is fine. Letting my dog suffer, or die, is not fine. I was even willing to pay for the insulin, over the phone and have a friend pick it up, but even that was denied. Luckily, I found another Vet, that was able to see him and they gave me a bottle of insulin to take home and scheduled the Blood Glucose Curve, for 2 weeks out. They saved my dog's life. I won't mention the Vet that saved my dog's life, not in this negative post, as I don't want anyone to be confused on who the negative post is about. I will write about, the positive experience that I had with the rescuing Vet, in a separate review. I don't usually write reviews, but this was about my dog and his life wasn't valued enough, to even get his last refill. I get defending your staff, but I did nothing wrong and still don't even know for sure, what the complaint was about. Even so, my dog could have died, because of the complaint, that if I am right, wasn't even an incident.

Having five pets I've had experience with the three doctors and most of the staff at Middleton…read moreAnimal Hospital and I recommend them highly. The doctors take time to discuss the pets' issues and needs. They both listen to my concerns and my observations, and they take plenty of time talking about our options and explaining things when I have questions. They allow for discussion and have often treated me as an equal partner in determining the best course of action for my pet. I so appreciate this! Though this is a thriving business, I've been able to get appointments within days of calling. And though they always have patients in the waiting room, our wait has never been more than twenty minutes, often less. Today we had my crippled dog in. The vet techs so kindly carried him in his bed from my car. They always are so kind to my animals, giving them lots of love and compliments. They allow me to be in the exam room the whole time. My pets feel comforted and less stressed. We get excellent medical care here too. Majid, my dog, had recurring UTI's. We were with another vet, who didn't have time, and prescribed the same antibiotic that wasn't working, for four rounds!!! Finally I brought Majid to Middletown. They tested him again and Dr. Shackleton identified the bacteria and a different antibiotic to treat it. That worked! It finally resolved his UTI!!! We were so relieved. This vet is also very considerate with the costs of care. They give you a written estimate to approve before doing any treatments. I really appreciate how they listen to my concerns and respond. Since the human caretaker of the pet is the largest component of the pet care over time, it helps that the vets and techs are so respectful and work as a team with you. We've used many vets in the area and Middletown, though it's an hour drive for us, is by far the best. Sometimes it's hard to get the desk on the phone on the first try. But once you do reach someone, they are kind and professional and get what you need taken care of. May all your pets be healthy! And happy. And if you need a vet, I recommend Middletown Animal Hospital.
