Pros: - Very responsive to my phone calls. - Friendly! - Puppy was as promised, clean, healthy, & I was provided guidance on his current diet, vaccinations, etc. - 20% off a local pet store in Yuba City which did help me save some money on his 1st set of toys & training treats. Things to Consider: - Unable to visit the shelter itself. Not something that bothered me too much as I assumed their small animal rescue is a private residence & I instantly fell in love with Lincoln. Still something to think about though if you want the chance to play with your potential new pet at the rescue to see if you're a good fit for the pet. - Varying pricing according to how much I paid ($750) vs. what other reviews say. They do seem pricier than most rescues I've experienced overall. - My puppy wasn't fully vaccinated or neutered before adoption. Those are add'l costs you may have to consider if you're interested in a young pet from them, but they did promise a $75 refund if you provide proof of the spay/neuter surgery & request the refund. Full body tremors, flinched at movement, not treat or toy motivated and also emaciated and covered in fleas. I informed the contact person I was not interested as this puppy would be more work than I could provide. The contact had an additional puppy in her veh which she asked if I wanted to see and I said sure. This puppy was 1/3 of the size but was food and toy motivated, allowed me to pet it and would follow on a leash nicely. After paying a whopping $400, (no spay/neuter or microchip), I got the puppy home to find it also had fleas, a massive round worm problem and double ear infection. After I took the puppy to the vet, (an additional $300), I asked for the contact to at least reimburse me for the dewormer and antibiotics or part of the adoption fee. I was told several times I would receive a check in the mail. (As they do not to Venmo for reimbursement which is odd because that's how I paid the adoption fee). Three weeks later and I still have yet to receive a check. Our puppy has been a TON of work. It was fearful of EVERYTHING and extremely underweight. The worm problem needed two separate rounds of dewormer. Really disappointed in this experience and will never recommend this rescue to anyone. It gives puppy mill vibes. Stay away.

We found out she has heart murmurs. The latest kitten we have adopted has had a mild issue with walking after a couple of days, and now he's lying in a blanket and won't move. This is seriously heartbreaking for my daughter. He is her kitten and we've had him for under a month. I do plan on seeking legal counsel for this matter. My other children are also upset by this. Before this matter, he was a very loving kitten and would sleep with my wife and I every night. He can barely hold his head up now. I do not have very kind words for the people who run this place, and I hope we, as a community, have this place shut down.

The good review comes from the fact that our little guy is doing great, he just turned 3 about 15 days ago and he does great on all his physicals from his vet on a bi-annual basis. I just decided to check out Google, before we set off on looking for a second puppy soon, and wanted to look them up again because I didn't see them on Petfinder anymore where we found them the first time. This led to the Yelp reviews that I read and they kind of conflict with my original belief of PPR. I don't know why I'm even writing this, as it seems they no longer adopt out puppies under this name anymore and maybe they've changed names or w/e but maybe this helps others anyway. I wanna start out by saying my sympathies go to those who got a puppy and ended up taking them to the vet over and over again just to see the dog not make it and still had to be put down. As a dog owner myself that is my biggest nightmare to hear something bad showed up on the report from the vet each time we take him in. I do believe that all puppies deserve a good home and unfortunately I could only accommodate two at this time or I'd love to adopt them all even with the inherent issues. So to the review and my new reflections on PPR now. When we got our little guy, Pickle, he definitely appeared to be malnourished, we got him at 8 weeks old, he had a slightly bloated belly and we could never figure out what was going on, our vet took a look at him and thought he had worms in his belly. He never had any trouble eating, but some other reviews mentioned that their puppies seemed to come from a filthy environment, and I want to say that I feel that Pickle may have come from one too. For at least 5-6 months he would constantly try to eat his own feces and we had to keep a strict eye on him or he'd eat it. We researched the condition, and it was either because he had a fear of being hit for pooping in the wrong place so he was trying to hide the poop? The poop wasn't cleaned regularly in his environment so he felt it was dirty and took the initiative to clean it himself? Or he was underfed and lacked the nutrients so he kept trying to eat his poop so he would get the nutrients from the poop a second time, or worms in his belly took all the nutrients so he lacked it? Anyway I would say that it may appear he was neglected during his first 8 weeks. Second we met the adoption ladies at a pet store in Yuba City, which I did not think strange at the time, but now it seemed odd that they wouldn't have a real location to meet us. We had originally thought they were two older ladies and in fear of violent people they wanted the safety of the pet store employees around when they were doing adoptions. Anyway, the store did seem to know them, and they appeared to be regulars there. It is one of those things, you are high on the excitement of seeing the new puppies that your not really trying to analyze the rest of the situation. The third odd thing was they only took cash, we were happy to pay it, it was under the impression that it was to cover the first two shots, and we hope he received those shots. It didn't matter we went ahead and gave him a new round of shots with the consultation of his vet anyway, better safe than sorry. I don't know what was the cause of all the other puppies who had parvo, but our vet told us that the year we brought Pickle home that there was a huge epidemic of parvo, and we did not let Pickle go out much at all fearing he would contract the deadly disease. So had I not seen the other reviews before writing this, I would have probably given the place 5 stars, heck I would have given them everything in exchange for my little guy, but now that I read some of the stuff, it gave me a wack in the head and looking back I could see some of the discrepancies now. I would say buyer beware, unfortunately these are puppies not cars, you don't get to recall them and the puppies didn't ask to be abused either. If there is anyway to shut down the puppy mills from the source that would be the only answer. I don't care where Pickle came from, puppy mill, or the "park" his original owners left him at that PPR was telling us, or even from a landfill, he changed our lives and we're both grateful for it.

I have reached out to rescues and shelters across multiple counties over the last couple of months. I have posted on Craigslist, Facebook, reached out to friends and family. I vet anyone and everyone who inquires about these pups because I truly want them to go to a good home. Today (after receiving permission from the owner of the company) my husband and I took four puppies to their aforementioned company to attempt to have them adopted. Deb arrived for her own adoption event, and when she did, she approached us with an extremely disrespectful and aggressive demeanor. She asked what our fee was, told us we should be charging MORE, and told us that we were UNDERCUTTING HER PROFIT by being there. She ranted about how she had to reduce the price of one dog she had from $850 down to $350. She also told us we were breaking the law, which she could not reference or provide any source of reference for. We are not breeders. We are not a rescue. We are not professionals at this, but Deb certainly is not a professional in any way shape or form and this is her BUSINESS. I am disgusted with her treatment. I'm a nice and amenable person in general. If she would have said any of this in a polite way, we would have stepped aside, apologized, and left. But she was so worried about her own profits she chose to be demeaning, condescending, and just plain rude. Which is 100% unacceptable in my book.

My dog has been groomed at this location consistently and regularly in May, July, September, and December of 2025, as well as April 2026. I have always kept him up to date on his grooming appointments and have paid for services that include nail trimming and nail cutting. Because he is groomed on a routine schedule, there is no reason a nail should have been allowed to become so overgrown that it curled into his paw and became ingrown. This was not something that happened overnight. It developed over multiple grooming visits and was repeatedly missed despite my dog being seen regularly and despite me paying for nail care services. I trusted that his nails were being properly maintained during each appointment, but that clearly did not happen. As a result, I had to take my dog to the vet today and was left with a $300 veterinary bill to treat a painful condition that should have been identified and prevented during routine grooming. What is most upsetting is that my dog suffered unnecessary pain and discomfort because this issue was neglected over time. As pet owners, we trust professional groomers to provide the services we pay for. Based on my experience, I feel my dog's nail care was neglected despite multiple visits and paid nail cutting/trimming services. I hope management takes this matter seriously, reviews its grooming practices, and ensures other pets do not experience the same situation.

He was located in the agricultural land with water. I called the sheriff's after hours line and reported the poor dear. After I was finally able to get the lad in my car, I took him to the Yuba County Sheriff's Animal Care Services in Olivehurst. (Gut-wrenching; he is very traumatized and scared.) The dispatcher and officers were very kind, caring, and patient. Many, many thanks to them.

After waiting about 25 minutes and the store not being open, my wife walked and asked an employee what was going on, and the employee said the manager wasn't there to open the store and it happens "more often than you would think."
