Our tour was scheduled from 7-9 and Mike checked in numerous times throughout the day to make sure we were feeling comfortable with the weather - he was more than happy to accommodate if not. Captain Mike took us out mid day and we have a beautiful day for sailing. He was so accommodating to us. He was there but you barely knew it. The boat was clean & he had refrigerator space and ice for us. We packed like we were going to two days, not two hours, and the boat didn't seem crowded. Capt Mike is an exceptional sailor and host. Extremely knowledgeable and safe. The tour was amazing. Leaving from Monroe sailing around Lake Michigan, Capt Mike answered all questions and provided a birds eye view of the Chicago skyline. You're able to bring food and drinks on board and store them in the refrigerator. There is a small toilet in board but I recommend going before sailing. This tour is a must and should not be missed. read more

Captain Mike made or experience so easy and amazing! We were a bit confused where to go on arrival, but another friendly boater gave us a lift to Mike's sailboat. We rented Mike's sailboat for our friends 26th birthday for a few hours on a sunny Monday, and we already cannot wait to go again. There is space in the back section of the boat to sit on benches, but me and the ladies spent the majority of our sail sprawled and sunning on the front section of the boat. There is a cabin with a small fridge bin, and Mike had a bag of ice waiting for us. He even had a wine key available when we forgot one! Mike was so hospitable towards me and my friends, I would definitely recommend renting from him for your small boat gatherings. Things to keep in mind include that the electricity on the boat does not work (make sure your devices are sufficiently charged) and he has an aux cord for your music so have a playlist ready. read more

Had a birthday celebration planned for weeks with this company. We had people come from out of town to go on this ride. We even called the day before to confirm all the details, because it was very important to our family. The day of the sail, we were called three hours before we were supposed to meet at the dock, and had our ride canceled. We were told there was an issue with the boat, and were offered no solution for our ruined day. When we asked if we could reschedule for later in the day or the following day, we just kept getting told "I don't know". Beware of small companies like this one, they will have no remorse in cancelling extremely last minute on you, and won't care how it affects you in the slightest. read more

A Fantastic Experience! We've done a number of the Chicago boat tours, including several of the different architectural tours on large boats with crowds of people. This was SO MUCH better! We took my in-laws, who were visiting from out of town, on the 2-hour sunset cruise for six (the maximum allowed by the Coast Guard), and just sailed up and down the lake along the skyline. We loved it! We lucked out with fantastic weather, and Captain Mike was very accommodating, chatting with us when we asked questions and pointing out landmarks when we asked, or just leaving us to have our own conversations. It's BYOB and food, so we brought our own drinks and snacks, and Mike provided a bag of ice to keep everything chilled. We had a terrific evening, and all said we would definitely do it again. Mike said he adjusts the charter to whatever you want, so you can ask him to go to the "playpen" and anchor and swim if that's what you want to do. Also, look for the Groupon! Two notes of caution: as another poster said, it can be REALLY CONFUSING to know where to park and meet the boat. I initially pulled into the wrong area in Millennium Garage- and it does NOT all connect underground- so I had to get validated (free) and exit and re-enter. If you enter the parking garage from the intersection of Columbus and Monroe St., then park in the SE corner closes to the marina. At that corner, there's a pedestrian exit that comes right up at the corner by LakeShore Drive & Monroe, and all you have to do is cross Lakeshore Drive. Then walk OUTSIDE the Yacht Club (don't go through the gates) to the designated meeting point. The instructions say to call Mike after you park, because he sets the pickup point based on harbor traffic and wind conditions. Another caution point: To board the boat, you have to step from the seawall onto the swaying boat, (it's tied up, but there's no plank so you're stepping over water - think "America's Funniest Videos") and then step down one big step (12-15") into the seating area. My 76-year old mother-in-law has bad knees and doesn't walk real well, but she LOVES boating. So Mike helped hoist her on board and my nephew helped her the rest of the way. But it's just something to think about for older guests, who might need several pairs of hands to get them on board. Still my MIL can't wait to do it again! read more
