A tale of 2 Comedy Bars -- east vs west -- Danforth vs Bloor. Bloor is the OG. It does get some bigger-name acts, but tends to focus on the best local talent, improv acts and alternative shows. Bloor looks like a straight-up dive, which I love! Danforth is shinier, like a nice clean pub. The location is out of the way, for sure (unless you're an east-ender). BUT Danforth seems to be booking the most exciting international names in comedy! Unless the comedian is big enough to book a theatre in Toronto, they're booking here. (Or Yuk Yuks on Richmond.) So check the website from time to time to see who's playing, which is what I do. I've discovered lots of cool new talent that way. As for Danforth's main stage, it's okay! The room is quite wide, so seats on the very ends aren't the best. And last weekend (November), the air conditioning blasted me the whole time (why?? So... cold). That being said, it's 5 stars for me because they're booking really interesting stand-up! And there you have it. Huzzah. read more

Attended 2 comedy shows at this location (Mario Adrion & Jason Chenny) It was fairly easy to get to with transit. Staff were friendly. Ordering food and drinks was really easy. The stage area had a decent number of seats and was larger than I was expecting (same with the bar area). read more

Got to enjoy a show here for free and really enjoyed it. I'd definitely pay to go here. The comedians had good material and they have a nice bar to hang out at before/after a show as well as table service that includes food. I'm a big fan of stand up comedy and this is a great place to catch a stand up show and make a night out of it read more

We had a lot of fun here. The cast was great, the jokes were funny. Truly a memorable experience complete with a song I wish I could hear over an over. We saw Tricia Black's last show before leaving to become a big star. Pretty sure I saw TB on a national ad in the US since then. We love exploring different neighborhoods in Toronto and this was a great activity. read more

We caught a Second City show here. I think they're here often since their home stage was demolished to make way for condos. Though it wasn't terribly clear to me where the entrance was - you have to go through the far door which actually leads to stairs for offices, then then go in the door and walk through the entire bar, it was still a nice space. We were late for the show so didn't really take in the the bar, but it was nice from what I saw. The stage area was certainly built for the purpose of being a comedy venue. The did well to make ordering easy by ordering on their website of linking to your table. It was the most mediocre Second City show I've seen, but that was no bearing on the venue. I'm sure lots of great acts will come through here - though it is really far east for me. read more

The show hasn't even started yet but I'm so impressed with the new location. I used Wheeltrans to get here and the driver asked where are we going? To the new Comedy Bar at Dawes/Danforth. We pull up and the place is lit!! Literally! Old school marquee kind of sign with all the lights. So you know you have arrived at the right place! Ha! A wee bit of a step/lip in through the door. Checked in at the reception area. Turn to your right and it's a gorgeous space. You could come here for drinks, it has that downtown vibe. The comedy theatre is down the hall. All accessible. I was walked over to the furthest side to be seated. Parked my walker along the wall and walked to my seat. She did offer to move a chair but it was still a tight awkward space. Would be interesting to see where I would have been seated if it was a wheelchair or scooter. At your table are the QR code to order drinks & snacks and they'll know exactly where you are at your table! Technology I tell ya! The back of the main hallway are the washrooms. Looks like individual rooms. One large accessible washroom with the push button for anyone in a mobility device. The staff are lovely and friendly. Ohhhh! This is also the temporary home for Second City while they get their new space ready. They have the Improv training classrooms downstairs. They'll have Improv shows here as well. What a terrific comedy club! The dining area and bar are very attractive and clean. The menu, although not huge, has more variety than you would expect in a comedy club. The comedy room is separate from the restaurant and bar. The staff is exceptionally courteous and friendly. The comedians I saw when I was there were really funny. I strongly recommend this place as a great night out for any size group from couples to large groups. I strongly recommend this place for a fun night out. read more

This place is amazing! Let me tell you why! Decor is nice and the place is clean. Love the fact that they have unisex bathroom! Staff is great, efficient, polite and friendly. And I mean every single person that works there is fantastic! Food is great too! Their pizzas are delicious , a bit on the pricey side but made with great ingredients and super great! A great spot to go when you want to stay local. Shows are great too and their different rooms are well decorated and comfortable. I have seen 3 shows there and will go back for sure! read more

We purchased 9 tickets at went on Saturday night for the second city show at 10pm This is not our first time but will likely be our last. Let me explain why. Having attended every second city show over the past 7 years some more than once this was by far the least entertaining. To add to that the venue really sucks. Even though we paid over $400 dollars for our tickets , we got the worst seat in the house. Far right without full veiw of the stage ,this place would work for a single comedian but not a show that has a larger cast. Ordering drinks online takes out the staffs ability to use any type of smart serve that became clear when the guy seating directly ahead of use seated well after the 8 of us. Vomited on himself and spit on the floor only to be served another pint minutes later. And hot in the place lord you could have cooked a roast. So now with a poor veiw of the stage, our ability to hear impeded by the drunk and his wasted girlfriend yapping away the night was a total $500 us waste of time. Dinner was good but we did not eat here. read more
